I'm 52. They said I have a cataract in my left eye and a small one in the right. The only reason they gave me was sun exposure as I didn't need glasses until 44. I'm terrified. I was told I wouldn't need glasses after. Is this true?
Had cataract surgery in both eyes extremely painful. Still have floaters. Had to have an additional surgery to fix it two weeks later. Worst experience ever. Had it with a good dr expensive and can’t see as well as I used to especially at night. Still have floaters that make me think I’m seeing bugs in one eye, really annoying. Have nothing good to say about cataract surgery.
im going for the laser cataract surgery i think it will be better not to have glasses anymore, just regular sunglasses that will be great , we all lucky to live in this era, its amazing, my parents had regular cataract surgery it was different in the 90, my surgery is on 09/06/24, hope everything will be ok.
This was the first time I've seen a video where a relative gets the surgery. Following your mother's experience was an excellent approach to explaining laser cataract surgery. After all, this wasn't just a patient--it was your mother! It certainly makes me feel better about my upcoming surgery. Thanks!
I’m so scared to have this surgery awake! Can you help ease my mind? I’m not scheduled yet but I have ALL the symptoms of cataracts! How are you doing now? Did you have both eyes done? Thank you for sharing! 🙏🏼
I just had cataract surgery yesterday. I did the laser with Synfony lense. Everything went as you stated in your video. I can’t believe the difference already with color and clarity. I can’t wait till Sept for my other eye. Thank you for your video.
@@DrRupaWong you video is exactly the same as the direction i got from my doctore, the only thing is about the lens , i have astigmatism i know they do put certian brand does it matter what brand or what company do that? i forgot to ask the doc.

I'm 43 years old and in October 2022 I was diagnose with severe cataracts. I just had laser surgery on both eyes- my right eye was done first and three weeks later the left one. I didn't have an IV though. The entire operation lasted 20 minutes and I didn't have to wear a patch afterwords.
Great video! It's fascinating how cataract surgery has evolved. I had no idea one can have laser instead. Your mother is beautiful! I hope she has recovered and healed well! Keep these videos coming! ❤️😍
Great video ! May I ask how do you manage patients with (moderate) ADHD during cataract surgery with toric lens implant ? Does IV sedation work well or is general anesthesia required ? I'm afraid of moving or not understanding the instructions in time (as often happens to me). However, the idea of being under general anesthesia makes me even more anxious...
Some doctors insert the antibiotics immediately after the surgery and that is it but my doctor wants me to do it for a week post ops. Which is the better way? Thanks!
At 64, I was already seeing halos when driving at night, and some yellowish fuzziness. I also have astigmatism, abnormal saccades, and recurrent corneal erosion. I saw the eye doctor last June, and he said I would need cataract surgery in 6 months. I’m hoping to wait until Spring. Would love to know what you think of using toric lenses.
I had laser cataract surgery nearly two years ago. My doctor recommended the premium lens for one eye but said I would be OK with the standard lens for the other that Medicare would pay for. The premium lens cost me $1,200 but it corrects things the other one won't. In hindsight, I would pay for both to be the premium lens only because I get some blur off the edge of the standard one. I guess you get what you pay for. Since that surgery, my cataracts grew back in both eyes. I think they are call "yags?" I had no idea cataracts could regrow and so quickly. The treatment is simple and easy. Takes just minutes to perform and you can drive yourself home. Problem with mine is that my vision is not nearly as good as it was after the original cataract surgery. I would be interest for you to do a video on Nevis growths inside the eye. I have one that has been monitored now for over 8 years and it is a real chore to go in every year and have it ultrasound and photographed. Not comfortable at all. Perhaps if I understood it better, I might feel differently about having to go in for this exam every year. They would actually like to do it more often but I refuse to go.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I will work on a video on nevus growths. Thank you for the suggestion! Make sure you are subscribed and click the bell for notifications so you can see when I post it.
I had cataract surgery about three years ago, but must have been put to sleep as I recall nothing until waking outside the OR. Shortly after surgery, maybe 3-4 weeks, my vision went from perfect to worse vision than prior to surgery. I had to undergo an additional procedure. Since the surgery I have had to wear contacts which have been changed every few months as vision has changed drastically. (Do recall exactly but slowly from -25 (?) to +250(?) maybe the other way. In the last month I went from -50 to -25. My doctor has admitted that this is very much out of the ordinary but it does scare me as I am blind in my other eye. Oh also developed a torn cornea since surgery.
Greetings Dr Rupa Dub. Any future issues us former LASIK patients may have with cataract surgery? By the way, I love the phonetics of your first name, last name mixed with Dr. There's a medical doctor rap there somewhere.
You could but there are risks involved! Definitely ask your eye doctor about it the next time you go in. And thank you!! A rap song about me sounds hilarious!
In a recent eye exam I was told that I have cataract developing in one eye. But even after watching this video I’m still very terrified of having someone operating on my eyes. I truly think I will have to be put to sleep.

I'm so sorry you're struggling with this! When is your doctor appointment? It could be many things and is hard for me to give an opinion without seeing you in person. Here is a video I have posted on ocular migraines - ua-cam.com/video/SwZio4X9Z5A/v-deo.html I wish you all the best!
If you were near sighted like me, be prepared to need cheater glasses for the rest of your life. I am now 20/20 in both eyes after the surgeries and have cheaters in every room in the house. Eventually I will resume wearing glasses all the time again, just for reading now.

I'm glad to hear your surgery went well, Otie!

@@DrRupaWong yes I did. I am so happy now. I still have some floaters but I was told to still expect that. Thanks for asking.

Just depends doctor to doctor! We all have our own preferences.

Great video, thank you. My cataracts aren't quite bad enough for surgery yet but it's wonderful to see how it's done.

I had this same thing done last week. I got the biggest black eye ever. I think the suction was a little too much. But wow can I see.

You should take blood pressure tablets in the evening .
So when they put anesthesia, are you mostly awake or asleep?

I've had cataracts removed in both eyes. You don't feel anything whatsoever during the operation. It's absolutely painless.
It isn't as bad as it seems for the patients! Start watching at 08:59.
I want to know is laser eye surgery is go be okay at the age of 21 or 22 can get one bc I hate wear glasses since age 4
It just depends. Definitely bring it up with your local eye doctor at your next visit. Best wishes!
