Your husband looks so nervous on camera omg he’s so precious. Don’t worry you’re doing great!!
Haha. He totally was but he loosened up by the end. Trying to get him to do more with me!
I am going for my final lock in session for my LAL today. I had this one “tuned” for reading which makes it a touch blurry for distance, but still 20/30. I have a multi focal in the other eye which does well for distance so it is a great combination. I can thread a needle!
Very nice!
Hi Rupa and Jeff Wong,
I had cataract surgery done in 2008. It was tuly a wonderful experience, since I was previously at -8 Diopters! I chose the fixed lens - and clear vision at 20 inches. Dr. Jeff explains how they get accurate refractive results - that is a great effort that I need to understand!
I thank both of you!
Glad we could help!
I love this vlog! You did a great job introducing and interviewing your husband. Your husband has a very calm and collected manner to explain things easily - I enjoyed following his explanations!
Thank you for your kind words. We had fun making this video!
I’m in the process of having my cataracts removed (one last week, the other next). My insurance only covers the standard lenses. I thought I’d done a lot of research before surgery, but I hadn’t heard of this kind of lens. Interesting!
Yes it’s pretty new in the US and my husband has been very happy with it. He also implants many of the other premium lenses - Symfony, torics, etc but he’s been pleased with this one
I'm getting the light adjusting lenses this week. left eye tomorrow, right eye on Thursday.
Dr Jeff is my Ophthalmologist and it's nice to see him with his happy personality. Usually he's in the background of your videos trying to hide. Haha.
I didn't realize the LAL is monofocal - are they typically adjusted one for distance, one for near? And the new version coming up - is it EDOF (Extended Depth of Focus)? That would be very interesting. A family member recently decided on Vivity which Dr Jeff performed, and she's very pleased. Thank you doctor. I have what he calls "remarkable" vision, so maybe I won't need...
Thanks for the info doc. I have a few questions: Does compound myopic astigmatism get worse with increased screen time? My astigmatism keeps getting worse , literally after every visit. What causes it to progress? Will it stabilize? I'm terrified I might go blind! And I go for check up after ev'ry 6 months. Now the doc asked me to come back for check up after 3 months.
Great content and info. That time (cataract surgery) is coming up soon for me - so this is certainly something that I’d like to have done.
Glad to have been able to give you some useful information :)
Another super video. Thank you
So nice of you!
This video is by far the best one 10:04 I’ve seen in regard to LAL lenses. Great job to both of you. Had i viewed this before I would have come to you for my cataract surgery. And you live in Hawai’i like me!
I Had my LAL surgery last week.I am waiting for my Uv treatments. I am loving my new eyesight already.😎
Did you have one eye done or both eyes?
I hope you have recovered well! I love to hear experiences from my viewers!
Thank You for sharing all the good advice. 🙏🌹❤️
You are so welcome!
How soon after cataract surgeries in both eyes, can the light adjustnent begin ( for LAL)?
Great video.
Wow--wish you all were in Central Florida!! Love the idea of flying to HI for cataract surgery.
Thank you for the kind words! Our website is linked in the description, we would love to see you.
I had my light adjustable lenses placed at Magruder Laser Vision on Orlando. I can only speak very highly of them. I am very happy With the outcome. My final adjustment is in 3 days.
Great video, I would love to know your thoughts on which lens is best for somebody that had RK done in the 90s that now has a cataract
Hello!! This is unrelated, but I have a question. So I just discovered your channel as I am looking and to make up for sensitive eyes. Then I started learning more about I safety with make up. I was wondering if there are certain ingredients to avoid in eyeshadows?
Welcome to my channel! I have a bunch of great videos on eye makeup suggestions, but that idea is so awesome, I have it on my idea list for the future! Keep an eye out for it :)
Can LAL adjust also for some astigmatism?
Hehehe
Well done Drs. I can only imagine the amount of convincing it to Dr Jeff. One can clearly see he has a good sense of humor with the “I’m a big fan of your show Dr Rupa” lol
Thank you Drs
He does have a great sense of humor! Thank you for the kind words.
I have 2 questions: (Q1) I'm not entirely clear about the length of time the patient must wear post-op UV protection. Is this "forever", or is this only for a period of months? In the latter case, it sounds like the lens has a finite period of time when it will respond to UV, after which it does not. A few words on this would be of interest. (Q2) I've often seen polymer products exhibit significant degradation over time. Has anyone independently researched the technology of this lens from a stability perspective, so a service life over 20 years is likely?
Did I understand you guys correctly that a newer version of the LAL is coming out next year with more range?
Yes a new LAL next year!
How do your eyes appear following surgery?
'Aloha, my question is this, are these okay for people with immunity issues? Because I had eye surgery 4 years ago and I think my transplant didn't take very well. Will this pose problems for those of us ?
I have epiretinal membranes and the left one causes a slight blurriness. Would I be able to have this procedure when my cataracts are corrected and are there any special advantages from the lens in this case?
My husband said that you most certainly could have light adjustable lens even with the expiretinal membrane. Usually he won’t put any premium lens Lin patients with these membranes because vision can be compromised. But this lens would actually offer you some advantages.
I have done my left eye retina detachment surgery before 4 year and suddenly l have felt squint and double vision in the same eye and it's vision 6/36 what treatment is suitable for this condition
Question for you or Dr. Jeff. Is the adjustment period only a short time after surgery? Should my vision after the procedure change months after for some reason, are you able to adjust then? By the way, you guys are great together in the video!😄
maam i have different angle of squint at different angles
Dr. Rupa, what did you put in your husband’s food??? I would like to know the ingredients 😂 I am shocked to see him in the vlog. Finally you convinced him to be in your video. I think he should be in your video often because you both focus on different specialities and it is very lovely to see wife and husband team supporting each other and also educating all of us. Please have Dr. Wong in your videos often. Also, I would like to see you interviewing him asking your husband all kinds of professional and personal questions such as what is his favorite food, what is he fond of his wife, what is favorite hobby…etc. Maybe post a video to all of us so we can share our questions. I am sure all your audience we will go easy on the questions. We would love to have Dr. Wong more…Also get his thoughts on Dr.Sanduk Ruik (an eye doctor who helps people in the remote parts of Nepal with cataract - due to living in high altitude areas like in the mountains it seems they are more prone with cataract. From the other end of the paradise - Islamorada (The Keys), Florida.
I will have to convince him to come guest star more often! These are all great ideas, I will definitely look into it :)
When the new adjustable light lens are going to be released ?
Can we put Vaseline on eyelashes??
What is the price range for this lens ?
I don't know about their particular practice, but I checked here in Minnesota, and the lenses are around $5000 for each eye. I'm currently saving up to have this done! :)
what is the price compared to the multi focal lens??
I don't know about their particular practice, but I checked here in Minnesota, and the lenses are around $5000 for each eye. I'm currently saving up for it! :)
My lenses are 3500. Per eye insurance does not cover
@@jackievalentine1857 where are you at? Is $3500 per eye foe the LAL's?
Great inspiration to me as a young eye health worker eye.ug
I am so flattered!
Am greatful...
