9:45 strawberry (Jagoda on Serbian language) is meaning of Red Star (Crvena zvezda) fan Marko Ivković who was killed in Instanbul, Turkey. It was match against Galatasaray. He was killed by turks where he was stabbed from behind several times. Date of tragedy was 21 November 2014, at that time he was only 25 years old. From that on we don't forget and forgive from what they did and he will always be in our hearts. 🍓❤

Basketball isn't very big in the UK but in continental Europe a lot of the pro basketball teams are associated with football clubs and the same supporters follow the football and the basketball. The first 'Europe' one was in Thessaloniki, Greece. Taking shirts off is a football thing ... particularly in winter, the lads take their shirts off to show how tough they are !

When you come to Greece, if there is a matchup of Olympiakos - Panathinaikos or Panathinaikos - Olympiakos, you should definitely go and watch it, either if it's football or basketball. It's one of the most heated matches of the whole season and you won't be disappointed. And if you consider going to a match, don't go to Gate 7 or Gate 13. It's where all the ultras go as you saw in the video.

@@KingBoomer We don't know the fixtures rn, cause the season in basketball hasn't finished yet. We are still in the quarter finals and most probably Olympiakos and Panathinaikos will ne in the finals(best of 5). But i think around mid August the fixtures are getting public in both sports, so i will let you know with a comment if there is such a matchup for you to go.

It's about club culture even tho womens basketball games you can see this kind of crowd. It's coming from roots, basketball like religion in serbia, grece, turkey... you can't compare states and europe.. at states it's like show and about to have fun

Funny thing is that the NBA has put on a few games in Europe but with the NBA rules you can hardly sneeze in the seats before you are removed by Security, the NBA is pretty damn dull as a fan to be in attendance compared to these teams and the NBA especially after the Pistons Pacers brawl in the Palace went a little overboard with the rules.

In Western Europe Basketball is probably the second most played/watched game. But football has such a massive monopoly on our minds and in our societies here that even the second most played/watched game is hardly ever broadcast on tv. Whereas 42 or so out of the top 50 most watched tv shows/programs were football games in a survey a couple of years back in Germany I remember :) In the US there is much more equality and versatility when it comes to your passion for sports

Indeed. In some cases one single clubs owns multiple sports like basketball, football and even more. So yes, it's very likely that supporters of those clubs go to games from multiple sports.

Girls play basketball here at school aka netball. We once played in a tournament with a school a mile down the road. Their nuns watched us get changed for the match. One of their team asked, “Sister Mary-Joseph, why are you watching us in the changing rooms? Shocking to me, American fans of this sport are so ignorant about what happens out of there.
The loudest bball fans are from Balkan peninsula but... if u go to a bball match in Greece or Turkey or Serbia they are top proly from that region. Players literally cant hear their coach.

The point is that these fans are not only basketball fans generally. Almost all those basketball teams who have such fanbases are sports clubs that participate in many different sport branches. The teams included in the video such as Aris, Panathinaikos, Crvena Zvezda, they all have football teams as well.
