There is more to this than meets the eye. The legislature meets in the city itself. Something isn't right. Some questions are in order. Does Jackson have the proper tax base to maintain its operation? If not has it asked for assistance from the state or federal government? If so, what happened? Did the governor know its water purification system wasn't functioning properly? I live in a much larger southeastern city and after one of our major hurricanes the water was unsafe for about two days. We had bottled water brought in but for drinking only and this was for maybe one or two days. This doesn't add up.

people in jackson should seriously consider using rainwater as an additional source of water for emergencies. from the sound of it prob needed before and after this. i use to live in virginia and when you went up to the country area people would have their downspouts from the gutters basically cut short and they had big barrels for the water to run into and it was plummed into their house. i know a reason is some areas dont have city water because of how rural it is and also dont want to pay the city for water but still a good backup. but i will say this, hopefully this incident can turn into a good thing. with all the coverage it may force the city to finally do something
