Hey Perun I would like to give you a little tip, for your militiaman since he has stars in fatigue, I think you should make him a heavy armour kind of character, if you do that you should also probably get him brawny too (and eventually recover) Also if you have a very high resolve character you might want to get "rally the troops" Also also with two hander are very good with rotation (which is already good but with 2h it could be lifesaving) Love that you're playing this game and hope that you go far (seriously hope for that)

@@raidermaxx2324 Definitely. This is one of those "try not to yell at the screen while the guy playing does lots of things wrong" kinds of videos. Still entertaining regardless.
Two things, the gimmick of gifted is that it gives you guaranteed max rolls (irrespective of talents). That is why the rolls are "fantastic". Secondly stamina becomes very important (as others are saying) for certain weapons, longer fights and heavier armor as the game progresses. It can be somewhat mitigated by the recover skill but still...
Yeah. It's not very intuitive how important stamina is. In the early game, you've got barely any armor and it's all light enough to not give much of a stamina penalty, and fights are pretty fast. It's only once you're several hours in and committed by your level ups that you start to realize "Wow my guys are running out of stamina in fights, what changed?" and you realize that all that spiffy armor you've bought and fought for has been taking chunks off your max stamina, and you're fighting larger groups of enemies with better gear that take longer to beat, and by then you're locked in.
It really depends on their starting HP. A low/middling hp brother with high melee defense won't be getting much out of Colossus as opposed to Shield Expert. Ofc, it's a T1 perk, so easy to grab off the bat, but I usually prefer Fast Adaptation on most 4AP weapon builds. Edit: I forgot to mention that I usually run Quick Hands on most of my bros, thus enabling me to use, in a single turn, 2H + dagger, thrown weapons or 4AP melee weapon based on range, crossbow + melee, etc. As such, Fast Adaptation is particularly useful for me, otherwise I'd agree with your assessment regarding the Colossus perk.

Australian peasant militia wouldn't work, you'd die against the first flightless bird. Can't change my mind on that one. Edit: It is Weilers + heim. Weiler = pond, heim = home. If I was to point out something, it is that you want as much as posible, stamina on every level. Once you start wearing heavier armor, those come with absurd amounts of stamina nerfs so if you don't start countering that from the begining, then you won't be able to use good armor later on.
Sure, for late game Battle Forged Bros. But none of these shlups are good enough to keep late game. If they can even survive that long. Plus there are Nimble and stamina neutral builds.
@@sr71silver Sure there are other builds but I think we can agree that this is not the case here. On top of that, I usually use Quick Hands builds, meaning that even my 2H bros usually attack twice per turn, thus requiring a fair amount of aditional stamina. I can certainly see why one wouldn't care for stamina early, but I dislike having my bros die for silly reasons and only allow them the eternal restful sleep if it serves some narrative purpose (such as being sacrificed to Davkul or dying heroically after 1v3-ing orcs for a few turns, thus allowing the rest of his bros to win the day). Glad to see you playing this. I've had it for years and only ever dabbled, I may just be doing something wrong but the "fun" never seems to fully kick in... almost like the game fails to take off and get out of this initial scratching-to-get-by phase. Eager to see your experience and determine if I need to give it another shot.
Battle Brothers is a pretty unique niche for me. I love it. But it's a game I don't get lost in like CRPGs or Strategy games. So it's perfect for when I have an hour or so before I have to do something. Take a couple contracts. Fight a couple battles. Good time. Then about 50hrs in, I've either ruined the company, or it's started to build a story. THEN I'm hooked. Also, Fatigue is very good on anyone you think is going to wear heavy armor. Because the fatigue cost goes up the more you wear.
You don't need to go over the top with rolling your Rs. It's not even done in standard German, but only in some local varieties. Usually caravan missions aren't all that good. You don't necessarily get to fight, so you don't get loot. And the longer ones don't pay enough for the time they take. You also don't have control over where they take you. It may just be where you came from. In general it's better to only take them when you want to go to some town anyways.
If I remember correctly, you can always make ONE attempt at changing your contract pay. I don’t think there’s a downside to it, but I always ask for more on completion when they try to pay me per head on caravans. Doing so usually takes away the per head pay and replaces it with more on finish. Pretty sure you’ll get more overall with completion money versus money in advance so unless you immediately need money or it’s a mission where you may need to bail, (you’ll learn which missions can have a ditch or basically die event) it’s almost always worth it to switch payment methods. It’s been a long time since I’ve played BB though and I am by no means an expert so if I was actually fucking myself over doing this someone let me know. All I really remember is the prison meta that perun showed where you shank snitches for their gear.
Unless they changed it in the most recent expansion, I'm fairly certain every attempt at changing the terms of a contract does negatively impact the faction reputation a little bit (it's just hard to tell, given the quest competion rep more than makes up for it, but there is a cost). I remember testing it out once (I used to bargain quite often, but stopped after realizing this), but it has been somewhere north of half a year since I played Battle Brothers, so there's a small chance I might be mistaken.
@@DarkVeghetta I’ve been doing it since release so I guess I just never noticed. Still I would try to negotiate out of per head contracts on caravan guarding.
@@DarkCrimsonBlade I do agree it's worth it sometimes, though I tend to wait until getting the negociator before doing this - he eliminates the rep cost for any attempt as well.
Always wanted to know if Battle Brothers was any good. Certainly seems up my alley. Sort of banner lord vs might and magic kinda thing going on. I like it 😊 Thanks Perun! Brissy is getting hot... Hope it's not scorching in your neck of the woods digger. Dunno if I should be worried about fires or floods again, let alone drop bears and hoop snakes 🐍
If you like it's art style and flavor, Battle Brothers is probably one of the best TBS games ever made - both in terms of complexity and depth of content. It's up there with the likes of Heroes 3 and XCOM.
I got Battle Brothers roughly a year ago, and since then I've found it hard to get immersed in other games. It draws you in and keeps you there. Be prepared to be killed a lot when you first start to play it though, although you can learn how to minimise this by watching playthroughs
It's also fairly old at this point, meaning it has a LOT of mod support, even to the point of large overhaul mods that add tons of content and mechanics to the game. If you like the style, BB is one of the best TBS games out there.
Oh this is perfect, I bought this back it was Early Access and never went back when it was completed. It'll be nice to have someone else work through the tedium of it.
Hmm looks like an interesting game, seems I never got it on my radar. Seems like the type of game I like to play. If only I had an infinite amount of time.
When playing this game you need to learn FAST what is too strong for you. Unholds and later Lindworms show up looong before you have any business fighting them. Just hunt bandits and maybe wolves while using knives to steal good gear for the first part of the game. Also if you see a little old lady marked "Hexen", RUN.
Unholds are manageable earlier in the game with the right perks and builds. Lindwurms are a fucking nightmare. Even once you get hundreds of days into a campaign where your whole company is well past lvl 11 and everybody is completely kitted out with named arms and armor. I'm just glad they reworked those encounters a bit to reduce the number of lindwurms in the typical mobs. The old ones where they had 5,6,7 per mob...bruh. Of course the most frustrating thing is still the drops. Doesn't matter how many you kill. There are times you might still get jack shit for rewards.
You are the only person I have ever seen who plays the trading caravan origin lmao, respect. I personally cannot stand the -33% renown, I feel like it really slows down the early game and makes it take longer to 1050 and get noble contracts.
I like a lot that this game is basically set in Not-Central Europe. Wo basically HRE and friends names and gear wise. More Slavic,Germanic and Italian elements than French or Anglo.

I am a die hard fan of BB but I did not see this comming. Excellent !
Awesome game, looking forward to how this series goes! (I love this game but somehow never beaten a BB crisis, always stopped before that.)
Love the look of this game, will definitely have to give it a go
love seeing you play Battle Brothers
Oh wow never thought id see this. This is cool
Looking at how excited he is about the supreme "Gifted" rolls, makes me not want to tell him.
Nice new game. Much love, keep up the good work.
This game is awesome I've only ever played on Ironman and I've not even come close to finishing a game but I have so much fun everytime
Excellent choice. Excellent game. One of the best of the last decade imho
Might be just me but the in game texts were kinda hard to read in this vid, a little too tiny for my eyes. Otherwise very hyped for this run!
Battle Brothers? Hype to see you get started!
Watching this makes me want to start a new campaign.
Such a good game.
Thanks for the video. Glad to see you branching out.
I love this game, keep playing it!
good game. i will go play it myself. i like how you explain things.
This was unexpected…and amazing! Itching to see the next episode!
I did not know I wanted a Perun/Battle Brothers Crossover. Now I know better.
This game always reminded me of those old Warhammer Quest games
Breaks are good, this should be fun!
"Base to base contact"
Spot the miniature gamer.
Oh Dang super excited for this! Amazing game.
This game is fantastic. And, the devs are still supporting it with patches even after all these years.
I got Battle Brothers roughly a year ago, and since then I've found it hard to get immersed in other games. It draws you in and keeps you there. Be prepared to be killed a lot when you first start to play it though, although you can learn how to minimise this by watching playthroughs
Heck yeah! Nice to see ya tackle this game.
A mercenary simulator?! Okay it's medieval, but THAT is the kind of game i want it!
It's also fairly old at this point, meaning it has a LOT of mod support, even to the point of large overhaul mods that add tons of content and mechanics to the game. If you like the style, BB is one of the best TBS games out there.
@@DarkVeghetta Don't forget it's also a no holds barred roguelike experience. It is gloriously ruthless, brutal and challenging.
@@raifsevrence Indeed.
The Gifted perk gives automatic maximum rolls for each stat on the free level.
this looks super fun
"shitty flails" are actually super OP in early game to gank brigands of their armor...
Nice! Can't say no to some Batle Broters action with Perun!
Really excited for this playthrough. I personally lost interest in TI after the HF run . I hope you keep this one up!
Hope you feel better quickly!
If you're taking suggestions, I believe I'd find it interesting to see you wrap your head around Shadow Empire
Quite enjoyed watching this
"quick look" in the Dan Carlin sense of the word
Battle Brothers is amazing!
My favourite military analyst plays my favourite game?! No way
Honestly I think a game you may love but is kinda hard to get into is a game called Star Sector
Please keep this up. I am sure it will be good.
I like a lot that this game is basically set in Not-Central Europe. Wo basically HRE and friends names and gear wise. More Slavic,Germanic and Italian elements than French or Anglo.
I really like this new serie
Absolutely adore this game
I love it and would love more of this!
