Many people think New Zealand is a tropical paradise. But it's closer to Antartica than it is to the tropics. Good weather is often only found on postcards.
But when the weather cooperates, it is a stunningly beautiful place. (& the locals are pretty cool too).
My home port of Tauranga. Great to see a sailing video of an area I know. Mayor Island and up to hot water beach then cathedral cove off Whitianga (Mercury Bay). Cooks beach north of Whitianga. Great to see.
Great sailing there, and great people too. We met local people there who have remained friends since.

Glad you didnt drop pick at the south of Mayor Island , Lost a new 45 lb anchor there , Got court up in Volcanic rock , 65 foot deep , On shore gail , Interesting night .

Its Mayor Island, pronouned Ma, like Hair. Same as the elected leader of a city.
I must admit that our attempts at pronouncing place names in NZ are mostly atrocious. We are doing our best though. Hopefully we are getting better as we go.
