As for Rouge's stages, I'm sure like Aquatic mine, there's probably a layout that lets her grab everything, but IIRC, one of Security Hall's emeralds are always in a safe so that would make that pretty much impossible even with unlimited time, and of course, one of Rouge's stages is Route 280, which is harder than route 101 and has open sections you can fall out so it'd be impossible anyway. But if just Dry lagoon (debatably impossible but I don't know all the emerald layouts), Egg Quarters (probably as easy as Death Chamber since it IS easier than Death Chamber due to the stage being a giant ring), and MAYBE Mad Space if you're patient enough. im so glad you still came back to try again even after giving up! i really hope someone out there finds a way to beat the stages you came so close to beating yourself. its always so impressive to me when people are able to find even hypothetical solutions to challenge roadblocks in games.
This is sick. Gives focus to the little design elements of the levels that nobody really appreciates. I'd love to see someone use TAS to solve the parts you understandably couldn't beat.
I've been binging SADX/SA2 challenge videos the past couple of weeks and I just found your channel. Love your voice and style of humor, and what really sold me was the use of OSTs from Catherine (my favorite game). You've got yourself a new sub :3
This is a fantastic video! The Adventure games, especially Adventure 2, are considered the crown jewels of the Sonic series for good reason. Would be cool to see some more open-ended coverage of which emblems are or aren't possible under this ruleset, but it's totally understandable if you're burned out on it!
This would be an absurd amount of work to accomplish however it is a good idea, maybe some day long in the future I'll get back to this and try that out!
Thank you Hennal! Of all the stages Aquatic Mine is probably my favorite because of the sheer amount of lucky coincidences that were ALL NECESSARY. The bare minimum was available to me and I'm happy I was able to capitalize on all of it!
This video was super fun to watch! Your narration is great, but the quality of the editing and production is just fantastic. Keeping the sound recorded separate from the music so you can hear proper game sound effects while the music is playing smoothly in the background is so good. I particularly loved the overlaid Knuckleses running in every direction at once.
The skill and the quality of your content is like someone with 100k, the amount of work you put into this is otherworldly. Insane motivation and determination best sonic channel with 1k subs yet.

It still wouldn't change the outcome of Crazy Gadget, but I swear that the bit with the spring beetle can be entered upside down instead of right side up, allowing you to just skip it by going along the ceiling. I'm not sure how viable that would be without the control stick, but I'm fairly sure it is possible and that you even get an extra life for doing it.
That was actually the first way I went about it! Since I'm used to the speedrun route which does it upside down I thought it would be easier. What I forgot about was that as soon as you leave the glass tube it sends you onto the extra life. Directly under that extra life? A vertical spring that causes a softlock hahaha. I wish that spring wasn't there it would have made that section a lot more fun!
@@Traitor1 ah yeah, I forgot about that pesky spring hidden beneath it. The devs clearly placed that there with the sole purpose of trolling you in this challenge 😂 I am seriously impressed by how much can be done with no stick inputs though, you did a great job with this (we'll ignore Tails letting the side down)!
Yeah can't believe the devs planned 25 years ahead just to spite me hahaha. And thank you I was really impressed with the results myself so I was excited to showcase the results to everyone the entire time I was editing the video!
No way, somebody else finally tried this! I tried doing this a while back as a "Beating the game with DK Bongos" challenge. I didn't get very far but I at least beat City Escape!
Thank you I'm glad you think so! I'm planning on making more challenge videos in the future though most likely with shorter less demanding videos in between so I don't actually go insane hahaha
42:10 "saved on slot 0" I'm not against saved states at all! But your script so far was about how long things took, being relieved getting to checkpoints, and retrying with those, so I'm a little disappointed you weren't upfront with this tid bit. It's ok though, do what you gotta do!
You are absolutely right, I should have been clear about them! In the original script I brought it up in the middle of the intro but was told to remove it because, when talking about how I would use them, the restrictions I had and the purpose behind them it ended up adding 2ish minutes. I still think it was the right idea to remove it since it did not affect the difficulty or results of the challenge but I should have spent the time rerecording some segment of the voice over and adding it in later. Also to be clear: despite hitting save state in Crazy Gadget there, I never loaded the savestate. But I remember in that moment I was definitely panicking about whether I would have to do that insanely monotonous setup again or not. Now that I'm writing this out and checked the footage to make sure I wasn't lying to myself, I could have just removed talking about the rules and just mentioned it was only used in Metal Harbor and Final Rush to skip the extra long deaths... Those being the white fadeout that happens when time runs out at the rocket for Metal Harbor and the really really long fall before you hit a killplane in Final Rush. You can actually see how it was used to skip the death and teleport me back to the checkpoint at 8:16 ! tl;dr I should have brought up that savestates were used in Metal Harbor and Final Rush as a "quick death" function to avoid wasting time just watching sonic fall to the killplane. Thank you for your comment and I hope this clarifies how the savestate was used in the challenge!
That’s about 4320 lives by the end of the 18th hour. as 1 hour is 60 minutes so that’s about 240 lives he spent on the 15 second segment each hour 16:54
Since you weren't doing a challenge run but inventing one, the timeframe makes sense. The resources presented could be invaluable for anyone intrigued by this. (And crazy enough to try it)
Sonic Adventure 1 was the first 3D game I ever played, and I'd never seen an analogue stick befire that point so I didn't know what it was for. I tried moving with the d-pad and all it did was make the camera move. So because I had no concept of how 3D games worked at that point I literally just assume you *couldn't* run and just had to spin dash everywhere. I got several levels into the game this way becauae I literally had no idea there was any other option.
that's hilarious and unfortunate in my early early childhood I was used to my gameboy advance (3 or 4 to 6 or 7) but saw my dad using analog sticks on his ps2 and immediately figured it out when I got a gamecube
Funny thing is, the way you beat Rouge was the way I consistently did it as a kid. Weirdly enough I can't pull it off quite as easily anymore, might be a quirk with the Steam port.
A challenge run? Check. Mind melting difficulty? Check. Practiced screen presence? Check. My favorite series? BIG check. Oh yeah. That's a sub from me dawg.
Hello! I'm here cuz the algorithm. Never saw you before anywhere. I think this challenge is stupid, but I still respect you for being able to do so much. I subscribed. You deserve it
Thank you, I’m glad you liked the video. I’m so used to people asking where the music is from that I’m honestly surprised that people are recognizing it in this video hahaha
let's assume it took about 10 seconds to respawn and get back to the platform each attempt making the attempts around 20 - 25 seconds each, given you didnt run out of time each attempt but always seemed to get below 5 seconds remaining. That gives is about 3 attempts every minute and 180 every hour assuming any of this is close to true that would make it 3240 attempts
Like some games from the 90s, if you put enough YEARS into them, you can literally figure out how to write a new game within the game code once you figure out how to manipulate RAM. XD Have you seen the TAS for Ocarina of time where they literally wrote an entirely new ending where Link gets the triforce and personally thanks the community for keeping the game alive for 30 years, all on console? and Super Mario World has a TAS where they replace the game with a working game of SNAKE and Brick break. One day...we'll figure out how to make SA1 stages in SA2 in engine. XD
The Egg Golem quicksand pulley was my favorite solution. That boss fight was kinda hype. Why is Ancient Light so wild though? I'm always terrified to use it near edges. Anyways great video, absolutely insane stuff.
Yo wait you dont even have 4k subs? Criminal. If you ever come up with more challenges I love these kinds of videos, but I'll stick around even for the other speedrunning stuff. Commenting and liking for the engagement, hope it helps!
14:23 assuming it took you about 16 seconds on average each attempt, you would have gone through 225 lives in that hour. also seeing the bar be that empty with an hour spent is some very well done and (at least in your case) unfortunate foreshadowing, good job (:
Great video. When I was 6 years old this was one of my favourite games. Anyway our dreamcast analog was broken at one time and guess what? I played a lot without it. So I did your challenge at 6-7 yo xD funny thing for sure.
Beware of the many people who are going to comment that you're moving and wanted to watch you find a way to somehow trick the game into warping you to the goal ring. This video is great don't worry about semantics.
I think there's an action replay code where you press a button and it warps you to the goal instantly amusingly enough. I used to play with that a lot. (in stages without a goal it didn't do anything though).
If you told me you were going to do a no-control stick run of SA2, I would not have guessed that Knuckles would be your savior, in that all of his levels were beatable while everyone else had at least one whiff. You'd think he'd be one of the biggest nightmares!
Cut to 99% of the comments saying "Okay but now do Dark Story," when Traitor literally said "I'm never doing anything like this ever again"

Yeah I'm aware of the bounce thing, that's a what creates a tasbounce! But in a tasbounce you do that with speed to gain more speed over and over again. We still don't know why it happens, but I hope we figure that out in the future.
I'll do my best to complete both stages, but for now the only one I'm confident about it PC, although with the amount of tricks we have I think I can find a way through CG's ending.
UA-cam cut off the title at the exact point for it to say "How Much Of Sonic Adventure 2 Can You Beat Without The Anal"
Can confirm its impossible to beat SA2 without anal
8:16 broo I can’t stop laughing at this! 🤣🤣🤣
Could you unban Analog? He is one of your biggest fans and he didn't like being called a mere stick.
Ngl when I saw you only had 1k subs I was completely SHOCKED, I expected like 100k or smth but no, hope you get there someday, GREAT content. Your suffering has really paid off for this video xD
Thank you, I would be very surprised if I ever got a silver play button but I am glad that's you felt it was a high quality video! I'm glad my suffering paid off in some way lol
Bro! HUGE respect! This is amazing work! Watched it 100% and 👍! Hope it goes viral!
Awesome video! The editing was on point and the enthusiasm in your narration was contagious. Can't imagine the amount of effort that went into this. Normally I watch videos this long in a few sittings but you had me hooked start to finish. Well done!
im so glad you still came back to try again even after giving up! i really hope someone out there finds a way to beat the stages you came so close to beating yourself. its always so impressive to me when people are able to find even hypothetical solutions to challenge roadblocks in games.
i really appreciate the awareness to not assume your audience is speedrunners and to explain stuff. that was really really neat
This is sick. Gives focus to the little design elements of the levels that nobody really appreciates.
I'd love to see someone use TAS to solve the parts you understandably couldn't beat.
Someone is interested in TASing out certain sections like Crazy gadget's end so there might be a video like that in the future!
I've been binging SADX/SA2 challenge videos the past couple of weeks and I just found your channel. Love your voice and style of humor, and what really sold me was the use of OSTs from Catherine (my favorite game). You've got yourself a new sub :3
22:55 ah, the knuckles dvd screensaver strat
This was good I am very impressed with the quality despite you lacking a large amount of subscribers
Thank you! I'm glad to hear you feel that way!
@@Traitor1 Yeah, it really would - either way I've subscribed and will be looking forward to seeing what you make next!
Jumping around at the speed of sound, got places to go, got to follow my rainbow!
This is probably the single most impressive challenge run I have ever seen. Bravo!
Another banger video from Traitor
I loved how ridiculous the Aquatic Mines solution was, crazy how much effort went into this
Thank you Hennal!
Thank you it means a lot to hear that!
Deserves more views and subs. Insane video.
Your commitment to the bit in Metal Harbor is admirable enough to earn a sub, my friend
Stu Pickles: "ive lost control of my life."
Sonic: "same"
Tails: "same"
Knuckles: "same"
Shadow: "same"
Eggman: "same"
Rouge: "same"
The skill and the quality of your content is like someone with 100k, the amount of work you put into this is otherworldly. Insane motivation and determination best sonic channel with 1k subs yet.
This is an amazing video. I love video game challenge run videos, but a lot are too easy and uninteresting. I love watching the aftermath of people going crazy pulling games apart just to beat them with using an input
This video absolutely enraptured me. Seriously, you caught me way off guard, but this is great. Real quality work.
Poor Tails.
You my friend are a masochist. And someone who has earned a new sub. Very good video, well edited, well paced, and watching skilled players attempt atrocious challenge runs is always interesting.
Also absolutely using that somersault storage tech thing for a casual playthrough just for the hell of it
this guys the cousin people usually talk about, "my cousin beat this game with a broken joystick".
"My cousin beat this boss in 3 seconds", etc
This is hilarious and extremely well made, I admire your dedication and knowledge of this game
the dedication you need to do something like this is insane. very good video, earned a sub
Banger video, absolutely nuts that you can do this much. Good job!
So happy you finished this! Definitely worth all the time and effort!!
This was a fantastic watch, excellent humour, fascinating challenge, and great presentation :)
This is such a crazy challenge, and I love it. This was really impressive and fun to watch.
Thank you! I thought it would be a fun challenge to work on and I ended up accomplishing more than I thought possible!
"Insane" is an understatement 😂. This was great!
Hahaha I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Heck yeah, great video Traitor! Loved every second, what a wild challenge
Thank you jpet I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! It really was a wild challenge and probably one of my biggest achievements in Sonic Adventure 2!
Please continue your speedrun tutorials! They were incredibly helpfull and made this game. The first game I've ever tried to learn a speedrun (especially because you give beginner as. Well as pro strats). Great video as always, glad to see a new video, keep up the great work!
Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I definitely have the speedrun tutorials on my to do list! The only thing left is knuckles but the script for that is longer than the script for this video so it will take me some time to make 😅
@@Traitor1 oh I bet! take all the time my man the videos are worth it! If I can ask, for big knuckles/rouge levels like mad space and meteor herd, is still better to memorise every location or just say 75% and hope you get lucky (if say your memory isn't so great xD) thanks!
@@misterphill1701 I would say to begin with, learning the most common ones is all you need! When I first started running I memorized very little. If there was a piece I never saw before I would go out of my way to remember the piece for the future and over time that's how I learned all of the pieces!
@@Traitor1 thank you!
Finally youtube recommends a small creator that deserves more exposure. No offense to the other recommended channels lol
Appreciate the work that went into this!
Thank youuuu!
Criminal this doesnt have more views, great work!
The devs clearly placed that there with the sole purpose of trolling you in this challenge 😂
I am seriously impressed by how much can be done with no stick inputs though, you did a great job with this (we'll ignore Tails letting the side down)!
Yeah can't believe the devs planned 25 years ahead just to spite me hahaha. And thank you I was really impressed with the results myself so I was excited to showcase the results to everyone the entire time I was editing the video!
What a crazy challenge to do to yourself. Props to you being able to complete most of the game like that.
No way, somebody else finally tried this! I tried doing this a while back as a "Beating the game with DK Bongos" challenge. I didn't get very far but I at least beat City Escape!
Would love to see more challenge run vids like this, you have a real knack for it
Thank you I'm glad you think so! I'm planning on making more challenge videos in the future though most likely with shorter less demanding videos in between so I don't actually go insane hahaha
Just found your channel through the 180 emblem speedrun I’m baffled how your channel isn’t bigger , awesome work dude ❤️
Thank you I'm glad you think so!
Okay, you got my subscribble. You've needlessly suffered enough.
You can actually see how it was used to skip the death and teleport me back to the checkpoint at 8:16 !
tl;dr
I should have brought up that savestates were used in Metal Harbor and Final Rush as a "quick death" function to avoid wasting time just watching sonic fall to the killplane.
Thank you for your comment and I hope this clarifies how the savestate was used in the challenge!
Took me a while to get to this video but I'm glad I did. You did really great on it!
(And crazy enough to try it)
bro this was an INCREDIBLE video. loved it so much
Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as you did!
this was an insane act of masochism. i'm proud of you.
I got several levels into the game this way becauae I literally had no idea there was any other option.
that's hilarious and unfortunate
in my early early childhood I was used to my gameboy advance (3 or 4 to 6 or 7) but saw my dad using analog sticks on his ps2 and immediately figured it out when I got a gamecube
Some liars in this comment section damn
@@ecciq I'm genuinely not lying. I legit thought that SA1 was a puzzle game.
Funny thing is, the way you beat Rouge was the way I consistently did it as a kid. Weirdly enough I can't pull it off quite as easily anymore, might be a quirk with the Steam port.
hey bud, congrats on the video release a great work. hope you've been well!
Yo Juice! Thank you I'm happy with how it came out and I've been well hope you have been as well!
God I love this game. I could also feel the mental strain you were most definitely feeling LMAO Thank you for your sacrifice
Love to see the end result of the video. Keep up the good work Traitor
Thank you seahawks!
A challenge run? Check.
Mind melting difficulty? Check.
Practiced screen presence? Check.
My favorite series? BIG check.
Oh yeah. That's a sub from me dawg.
Just wanted to say that your editing skills are awesome, love your narration as well, great video :)
This is insane i am surpised you only have 2k subscribers you deserve atleast 500k
"banned analog stick. reason: stick." i can already tell I'm among kindred spirits here LOL
Hello! I'm here cuz the algorithm.
Never saw you before anywhere. I think this challenge is stupid, but I still respect you for being able to do so much.
I subscribed. You deserve it
This was really interesting to watch! Definitely can see why this took a full year but it was worth it!
Thought I was having a stroke when I kept hearing BA music
Great video btw
Thank you, I’m glad you liked the video. I’m so used to people asking where the music is from that I’m honestly surprised that people are recognizing it in this video hahaha
let's assume it took about 10 seconds to respawn and get back to the platform each attempt making the attempts around 20 - 25 seconds each, given you didnt run out of time each attempt but always seemed to get below 5 seconds remaining. That gives is about 3 attempts every minute and 180 every hour assuming any of this is close to true that would make it 3240 attempts
It’s actually crazy you did this on your own.things like the a button challenge are usually a community effort
Subbed because the launch sequence permanently damaged you. Can’t wait to see what else ya got xD
At no point did i think any level was 100% possible let alone a good amount of them. This is just absolutely incredible!!
Never watched an sa2 speed run, but watching the B roll of you beating King Boom-Boo in one cycle was extremely cathartic.
Hell yea he's back! I'm still watching the video rn but so far it's top entertainment, hilarious challenge
Yo wait you dont even have 4k subs? Criminal. If you ever come up with more challenges I love these kinds of videos, but I'll stick around even for the other speedrunning stuff. Commenting and liking for the engagement, hope it helps!
this is the most accurate way to play a Sonic game because Sonic is just doing whatever the hell he wants and you're just along for the ride
14:23 assuming it took you about 16 seconds on average each attempt, you would have gone through 225 lives in that hour. also seeing the bar be that empty with an hour spent is some very well done and (at least in your case) unfortunate foreshadowing, good job (:
holy moly banger video
Great video. When I was 6 years old this was one of my favourite games. Anyway our dreamcast analog was broken at one time and guess what? I played a lot without it. So I did your challenge at 6-7 yo xD funny thing for sure.
An hour well spent 👏Awesome video!
Thank you!
18:08 - 18:30 "Sonic defeats Shadow by doing absolutely nothing"
Luigi: Finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be Legendary!!
"My analog stick is broken! I can't beat the game!"
Big brother: "leave it to me."
This was a great watch. Take my sub Mr Fish Toothpaste Man!
If you told me you were going to do a no-control stick run of SA2, I would not have guessed that Knuckles would be your savior, in that all of his levels were beatable while everyone else had at least one whiff. You'd think he'd be one of the biggest nightmares!
You are a GOAT and deserve more views
Hats off to you for even attempting this, nevermind having as much success as you did.
Great content brother!
