Belphegor - The Devil's Son Drum Cover

- Hello everyone!
Last summer I joined Belphegor for some festival shows and during my rehearsals I got the chance to try the ACD Phantom Pedals. It was instant love and so I decided to make a lil drum cover of one of their fastest songs, regarding double bass runs.
This is pretty much how I play stuff like that nowadays - always a mix of singles and doubles. It helps me stay kind of relaxed but I also want to challenge myself and maintain stamina. I also spent a lot of time working on a more or less fluid switch between doubles and singles and now I'm at a point, where I'm quite happy with it.
Some words regarding the Pedals:
The settings were pretty much “out of the box”. The only thing I changed was the spring tension which I set to around ¾ of max (with heavy springs) and I used the direct drive link. I also tried the belt drive but I'm so used to playing direct drive pedals, that I didn't want to spent too much time messing around with it.
Compared to my Darwins, the beaters were a little bit further in and due to the slightly different design the point where the footboard is connected to the direct drive is also a bit further back. So after playing a couple of hours with the Phantom, I also changed my Darwins to copy the feel and those tiny adjustments made it also a tiny bit easier to control the pedals. And you can't have enough control over your pedals, haha...

@@julianmazzola Yes it's insane. But it's not actually swivel technique he is using, it's more a motion to keep on the beat. I would say it's single strokes and heel-toe of course.
Dude has the best technique. Simply outstanding.
At a glance he almost looks bored but a closer look reveals the clinched jaw, the lowered eyebrows and tightly pursed lips indicating deep concentration and bearing down for the faster parts. Fucking amazing to watch up close plus the song is a masterpiece of technical violence. Nice.

This is incredible. The level of being able to play stuff like that in such an effortless way is around 13 in a scale of 1 to 10. I have never heard of this drummer before and I too was introduced to this drummer seeing a video El Estebario Siberiano put out. Subscribed and looking for more absolutely insanely well played stuff. What an unbelievable show of skill.

Your push-pull technique always blows my mind. I've been trying to develop mine for a while now but I've plateaued so hard lol
I was inspired by David as well to practice it a few years ago, wanted to go too fast too quick and therefore developed unhealthy habits, so I could play 230 something, but I would cramp up etc.
Then I stopped and currently I am relearning Push/Pull, taking it very slowly, bit by bit, focusing on Control and endurance. I'm at maximum 190bpm right now, and I honestly couldn't be happier with how it develops.
Def keep going, my comrade, it'll take some time

@@uglypineapple03it’s so easy to speed it up improperly and cause plateaus. I had the same issue with my right hand. My left was easy to get up to 270 (I’m left handed) but my right got stuck at around 220 for a constant blast.
