Rear passengers need to be belted

- As a driver, you need to be sure your rear passengers are belted - for their sake and yours.
To earn a good rating in the seat belt reminder evaluation from IIHS, belt reminders need to cover the back seat as well as the front.

Another interesting test would be front passenger with feet on the dash
This, those ladies should see what happen
Natural selection will take care of that
That only happens in movies tho right?
I was just about to comment that. People really need to stop doing that. It's not cute. It could leave you paralyzed or dead.
@Lucas Kroon my mom puts her feet on the dashboard of my dad's truck
this is why i wait and make sure everyone is belted in before pulling off, if they refuse to wear it ill keep sitting there untill they put it on or i tell them to get out since they can walk...
then they take it off during the middle of the drive and you never notice until you get to your destination
@Lostpockets 222 true, but I frequently check to see if they're still wearing them during the drive, others might not but that's just me
@@mikushionhatsune4261 more vehicles need a seatbelt light for rearseats as it does for the passenger and driver seat
I guess you are a very good uber driver
As a new driver at age 19 I do this with my friends and family.I never put my car into drive when ever some one is unbuckled.
My dad brought home a VHS tape from work that showed the affects of rear seat passengers not wearing seat belts. The rear passenger hit the bench seat in front of them with enough force to pull the seat out of the floor and jam the driver into the steering wheel. Now, this war back in 1986 and the were using an old 77 station wagon for the demonstration. That was wild and I've never forgotten it 35 years later.
I’m going to screenshot, print and tape this to the back of my seats in my Uber car.
There was a case a while back where a father had his child all bucked-up correctly in his car seat...but he didn't wear his own seatbelt. A vehicle cut him off on the highway and he ended up rolling his vehicle off the road a few times. With every roll, he was flying around inside the vehicle and he ended up crushing his child who would have likely walked away with only minor injuries had the father worn his belt. It was very sad.
yeah, imagine being the safer one and dying because of someone else
Complete negligence by the dad, what an idiot
Unbelted rear-passengers render front passengers' safety useless. Put your seatbelt on, takes about 5 seconds, and it might save years of your life.
Definitely, this needs to be shown at every single driving school.
I love your work, always great to watch and it makes a massive difference!! Thank you!
This brings a whole new meaning to the Quote from the Scout in Team Fortress 2:
"You're like a Car Crash in Slow Motion. It's like I'm watching you fly through a Windshield."
i never let anyone sit behind me without a seatbelt. they might not care about their safety, but i don’t want to get catapulted by another person
Seatbelt 100% saved my life. No doubt about it. My kids are so conditioned, they put it on even if we’re parked waiting and the engine is off. We joke with each other but I’m thrilled that they have this instinct.
I made a presentation about the importance of rear seatbelts during my highschool years. It feels good seeing safety Institutions take this into action.
I'm sure many have heard about the UGA crash with the two players & the two recruiters. Willock was sitting right behind LeCroy with no seatbelt on, which might've resulted in LeCroy having additional injuries and of course to Willock being ejected from the Expedition.
Moral of the story: Wear your seatbelts
This is very educational and should be shown in schools. Thank you.
Finally I have a good video to show my relatives when they visit from India. Passengers usually don't wear seatbelts there so they think it's fine to not wear it in the US too, but obviously, speeds are much higher here
The same thing happens in mexico, most people don't use seatbelts even on high speed roads.
Would also be interesting to see a side impact
Look for the video "Uber Crash No Seatbelt."
Also do not remove your doors, very drafty.
🥶
All the cars on *_Fantasy Island_* had no doors.
sorry wrangler owners
I drive for Uber, 90% of riders don't buckle up, for that they get 4 stars, even if they are good otherwise. Bucking up is one of the core things a passenger must do and is the law in my state. Riders that value their rating, their safety and mine buckle up and get 5 stars.
You can lose your license for driving with unbelted passengers.
This is a 35mph full overlap crash, you can walk away from the crash uninjured if you take 5 seconds to fasten your seat belt. Conversely, if you don't wear your seat belt, I bet both the driver and the passenger are seriously injured.

monika done being a crash test expert☠
I always remind people Princess Diana likely would have survived her accident had she been wearing her seatbelt. Obviously crouching down to hide from paparazzi would have made that impossible, but a body is a missile at these high speeds.
Some people keep objects like those dancing flower toys, phones, tissue boxes and etc on the Passenger Airbag cover. Do a experiment on that.

Because the euroncap their test are outdated and even don't cover extensively the whole possibilities in case of an accident, they guess a "perfect world" where everyone buckle their belts but the reality is not, is not efficient system or airbags if the whole passengers at cabin doesn't buckle up, instead the backseat passengers in case of any kind of crash might turn a projectile if is not buckle up
Now I need to have every seat belt clicked in any time I put something on the back seat
Pretty easy to bypass. I cut the wire for it in my car. It was annoying because it would set the parking brake when I took my seat belt off.
A lot of people who do backseat driving don't even wear their seat belts.
Aynı kazayı yaşadık. Kesinlikle haklısınız. İnsanlar üşengeç ve tedbirsiz. Devletler bu videoyu kamu spotu olarak göstermeli.
Significant, yet another round of important refund information
The dummy flying over the seat made me laugh
2023 and we still need to explain this.
If someone doesn't fasten rear passenger seat belt, they go to afterlife 'together'
The amazing thing about this they got the exact same car with the exact same paint color with the exact same wheels and exact same trim.
You also need to do whiplash tests for the rear bench seats.
watch the crash scene from the movie “grindhouse: death proof” to see an exact example of this
Drivers as well as passengers, you really need to fasten your seat belts every time you drive, otherwise you will put yourself and other people at risk.
Any unfastened object in a vehicle will become a projectile in the event of a crash.
My friends get so mad when I make them put their seatbelt on. I used to just stop the car and wait when they refused but now when they say no I wait till it’s clear and slam on the brakes and watch them slam into the back of the seat, then I say “would you like to test your luck going faster and into another car or do you wanna put that seatbelt on?” They always put it on after that!😂
When he was young my son had the bad habit of unbuckling before the car was stopped and parked. One time in a parking lot I heard him unbuckle while I was going at about 20km/h, I braked suddenly and he fell on the floor (he was in the rear). After that he never unbuckled until the car was completely stopped 😂
You should try dusting 2012 Toyota Camry se
It's official: essential details about refunds
Hold on... Are there any fatalities in the first test with the belts off?
I always wear my seatbelt because this is what I actually feared after that one moment when someone cut in front of my mom, causing the brakes to lock up, and I felt the seatbelt lock up on me, keeping me from hitting the back of the seat.
İ don't wear seatbelt

those wrists though even with seatbelt
I wish the IIHS would also do one of these tests but the rear dummy isn't wearing the seatbelt properly. I noticed some people have the lap portion on correctly, but the shoulder portion is behind them
2020 bmw x7 does chime when the rear seat belt is taken off. But if someone doesn’t put it on to begin with it, then it won’t chime. Only if it’s on and then taken off after.

Apply seatbelt and airbag will never damage?
What about 3rd row and centre jump seating if available? Are those covered by the seat belt reminder evaluation?
The third row is not currently part of our rating, but we have seen some automakers include the third row. The current protocol only focuses on front and second row so that it can be applied to all vehicles. However, we are testing the third row when available in the event that we update the protocols later. We evaluate a randomly chosen second row seating position from all available for evaluation, and manufactures attest that all seating positions behave the same way.
I admit i don’t where one in the morning on the way to the bus stop (as a passanger not a driver)
That's brutal. Yikes!
The main rear seat belt deterrent for adults is the annoying locking belt. If the rear seat belts were like the front ones, there would a lot more usage.
Just don’t pull the seat belt all the way and it won’t lock.
@@smoguli Which car have you tested that on? I have two Toyota and they both lock up.
@@frankmartin1325 all cars I’ve owned, this is how we used to secure baby seats before there was the new seat anchors. If you slowly pull on the shoulder part of the seat belt, you’ll notice that when it’s completely out it will click, and now it’s in "ratcheting" mode, it only goes in and will lock if you try to pull it out. If you release it and let it retract completely it will unlock. I use this also when transporting large objects like a computer monitor or even a box. I pull on the seat belt until it’s ratcheting, buckle it, and let it retract on the objet I want to secure. Then the belt will be locked and the object won’t fall when you brake or if you’re in an accident. To remove it you only have to unbuckle the seat belt.
I always found it extremely uncomfortable when the rear seatbelt buckle rides up into my stomach (above my hips) like it's doing to the dummy in the back of this vehicle. Why is the rear buckle so high above the hip point? My current model of car (22 Mazda 3) keeps the rear seat buckle below the hip and therefore the lap portion stays below my hips.
Sit up straight.
what do i do if i have no seatbelts at the back??
vehicles must make that annoying beeping noise for the rear seatbelts too
If I made this test:
Driver with seatbelt
Front Passenger with feet on dash.
Rear left without belt
Rear right with belt.
That Explorer should have the inflatable seatbelts
What’s the car that crash in the video
Why did the driver seat collapse forward in the unbelted test? Is that really expected with the force of the rear occupant?
Uh… yeah. They don’t usually do that otherwise lol
Well usually if you chuck 150 pounds of human flesh and bones into something at 35 MPH, it’ll most likely break
Why didn't the big bag come out?
There's no front-collision airbag for rear passengers in any vehicle.
This needs to be shown in drivers ed class. Idk why it's not.
I want to know how they managed to get two identical explorers
I have absolutely no clue, but maybe, just maybe, the Ford dealership where they have dozens of them lined up.
Idk, with money?
Even the person at the front dies becoz of that. 🤔
Remember this: Princess Diana would’ve survived if she’d have put on her seatbelt. She died because she wasn’t wearing her seatbelt.
Mane almos done fell out da whip😹😹👎
For the backseat, flying might be better than belt whiplash
I dont see the belt guy survive too

IIHS should test this with a car to car crash, with two of the same vehicle. one car has the rear seat passenger belted, the other does not. This would be good to test to see just how much more significant it is when you're hitting another car, instead of a wall.
likley owuld not be very different. The dummy is going to experience similar forces
@@hondajohn6948 it would be interesting to see the effect on the car with the belted passenger
@@hondajohn6948 if it was a head-on collision then no, the force would be much greater than just hitting a wall

Princess Diana would likely still be with us today had she worn her seatbelt in that back seat.
0:02 fatal💀💀💀
I don’t get why some people refuse to wear a seatbelt. It’s not uncomfortable, it’s not even noticeable 97% of the time when it’s on, but it will save your life in a crash
If you dont wear your seatbelt, any safety features from the car that you spent so much money on, will not work at all.

Sad that technology needs to be implemented to "remind" people about something so simple and easy. People are so lazy
