  • This very well loved Dyson that lives in Ireland came to Oxfordshire for some repair work. In theory this is a simple job, some new parts and a light service. However, it's not that easy....

    Great video Sam. You can't help but admire these lovely old two tone DC01s with their brittle plastic. I've had some dodgy brush bars too in the past. I've still got a couple of these, yellow and a blue. They still work well, although they don't see much use these days.

    Fantastic. The greenish tint actually looks good as it has affected the whole vacuum.

    Love the DC01 :). I’ve had a base plate from that same seller, I remember as I got one of them leaflets too. Mine didn’t really fit my DC07 properly either, it took me nearly an hour to put it on after its refurb. I definitely won’t buy one of them baseplates again

    I can't count how many dc01s I've had and passed through my hands including very early ones and even a very early da001
    The dc01 was the first vacuum I used in adulthood in the house me and me ex girlfriend shared - it was gifted us by my would have been mother in law and even then it was on its last legs. We got an 04 after that.
    Let it breathe Sam! Unclog the old lass and let her live lol 😂

    Nice DC01. I do like the YDK ones. Those pattern soleplates aren't that bad. The fitting is a bit meh, but is ok. That brush roll sounds awful. Have those pattern brush bars always been that bad?

      I'm still not fully sure if it was the baseplate itself or the cleaner that had warped. The brushroll is less surprising, I've seen it alot on dc07/14 non clutch brushrolls, to the point I'll but a decent used spare if anyone needs it!

    It’s those pattern qualtex brush rolls, they somehow misshape themselves and make that horrible grinding noise, I’ve had 4 different duds when ordering a cheap set for a clutcheless dc07

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  5 місяців тому +1

      Yep, it's very annoying, especially as qualtex's quality is usually very good! I keep used non clutch brushrolls about now

      @@beko1987 perhaps it’s down to the bearings or end caps, they seem to lose their cylindrical shape and create a lump on one side much like a burst tube on a tire

    There comes a time when it's best to say goodbye, and lay the old beast to rest, and move on. It's too old and knackered Sam, and the cheap Chinese parts just dont cut the mustard. She'd have been better spending her money getting you to send her a nice, late model DC14 with the non brittle plastics, probably would have saved you a whole load of hassle as well. Lets just hope the delivery firm doesn't smash it on its way back home.

      I did offer that to her, but she declined. And it got taken back luckily, not posted! (they have a 2nd home out there. Next time she messages I'll offer an upgrade again, not working on it again 😂)
