The main styles behind Team Bergamo are the "Rossi Kun Tao System" and "American-Filipino Kun Tao".

that all being said below, i don't have much experience breaking, i have broken a coconut (don't ask) but beyond that i don't really know much, im a mma fighter, not a breaker; but i am in med school so take my word a skull by itself may be structurally weak, but if you want to hurt someone a head put completely together is VERY strong.

@AlexExodia...unfortunately you are worng on all counts. The blocks were from Superior Concrete in Portland, CT. You should post a video of yourself breaking some concrete showing how easy it is : )

The reason many injured their hands is bad mechanics, you need to have the coconut stabilized, or deliver enough force in the center so it doesn't move, you need to strike with a force straight down, and you need to put it on a surface that won't give (a wooden table will NOT do)

First of all, i don't wanna offend, this video was great and the breaks were amazing, just i felt the coconut break was for show:
i have no idea who drew is, but if you watch his hand holding the coconut i bet you it didn't move much. (which is actually pretty impressive).
Second about people hurting themselves, i can't really judge unless i watched the break. But without good technique your gonna hurt yourself.

A cocconut varies in difficulty, but on average is harder than the human skull. I have seen many martial artists injure their hands after multiple attempts to break a cocconut.

sorry i was throwing some engineering in there, i can't explain it without maath but it's sorta like this, if you take two chopsticks and try to break them standing up you can't but if you lay them on the side you can break it. With the coconut the difference is MUCH less, obviously but still it is an adantage.

How do you build up your shin bones enough to kick through a bat

i would disagree the cell structures are both very different. coconut is fibrous while scull is more squarish.

cept you have to keep the wood dry or is is much harder to break.

As to your other comment about bad mechanics. Stabilized or not, hitting the center or not, people have hurt themselves, plain and simple. Also, some people, including Drew, have broken a cocconut while holding it in his hand. What about that smart guy?

hackinmage...What exactly is the "weaker angle" of the cocconut? It is sort of round you know. Go to the store, buy a cocconut, and start wacking it with your hand. It is not as easy as it looks and there have been many who have injured themselves thinking so.

This is only the inside of a cocnut- a whole coconut would be more than a human skull.
If you tap one of the small coconuts it breaks- a human skull takes a soild hit to break.
Course, I'm not an expert here.

i'm going to tell you exactly why that coconut break is not as impressive.
First, he is attacking the weaker angle, second the coconut is already against something hard it makes the break MUCH easier.
Second if you want to compare a coconut to a skull, the reason a skull is hard to break is because it is filled with csf and brain matter, the coconut has water in it but there is enough of a hollow to actually ASSIST with the break since that is weakening the overall structure.

    Coconut bust. Cool.

  • @Ebuverthebicepcurler
    @Ebuverthebicepcurler 16 років тому

not the inside part- go and get the inside part of a cocnut and tell me when you break it that your skull would break as easyly- anyone who has triped and bonked their head knows its not that weak.
The whole coconut is infact stronger, with the fiber and such.

hackinmage...OK Einstein. Go ahead and throw some math our way, I'm sure your not the only engineer. Your chopstick analogy is just silly. Cocconuts are round, there is no weak angle. Some cocconuts are easier than others...that has to do with nature. On average, here is where mathematica and statistics come in, they are hard. Harder, lbs per square inch, than a skull.
