    "Boards don't hit back" Bruce Lee

      You are NOT cool or skilled because you can quote Bruce Lee so please fucking stop it right away.

      A martial artist who does not like Bruce Lee let me know how far that will take you :)

    • @aperson8906
      @aperson8906 10 років тому +2

      Brian White I never said I didn't like Bruce Lee. He is phenomenal. You, on the other hand, is just an idiot for quoting him on a video of someone breaking things. It shows that you know absolutely nothing. Honestly, that statement is retarded. Why would my opinion of Bruce matter when it comes to my skills within Martial Arts?

      Boards DO hit back, if you hit them without enough force they shock goes back up your arm and hurts like hell and if you do hit it with enough force then the boards break and hit your arm/leg as they break - 'hitting you back'
      Either way they hit you back.

    well folks , lets see him do the breaks with out spacers, and also shorter 1x1's, all of this can be explained with physics, this is not a novel performance, this is just so much side show hype for the uneducated masses at this event

    • @hybrid5568
      @hybrid5568 4 роки тому

      Actually as a martial artist I agree. It would be more of a challenge to break the bricks and boards WITHOUT spacers. Martial arts teaches us to rise to the challenge no matter what and that would be a great challenge to try

    everyone keeps on saying "where's the martial arts?" . People, read the title. It's just a segment of a martial arts show. This guy has probably studied martial arts for a long time, but now he's just showing you the kinda condition his body is in now. It's capable of handling these breaks without breaking himself, withstanding the pain, and walking away undamaged.

    I have worked with this man and he is one the sweetest men I have met in a long time. He has no ego and the jumping is to help him mentally prepare for what is next/ Dont judge what you see if you dont know what you are talking about. you need more than jumping and screaming to do what he does every day. As for the bow at the end it is to show respect for the judges who are watching him compete. If you dont know what you are talking about dont comment. If you would like as a question

    @mcrtributedrummer What wood did you use? Also note that hitting most woods with (not against) the grain, when the plank is dried enough, makes it easy to split most boards. Did it myself years ago. Also placing the materials at the very edge of the supports, such as the piles of bricks or boards right at the edges of the supports reeeeally helps facilitate the breaks. BUT the coconut breaks and the bat break are really well done. Those are harder to do then most people think.

  • @geminilibra
    @geminilibra  12 років тому

    @Brainwave36...This was part of a competition. All materials are bought at the site and are not treated in anyway, from supplier to stage. Competition in a reputable sanctioned event, search USBA/WBA, is alot different than doing a demo at the mall.

    Wow it's sickening to see so many haters out there. There's nothing fake about anything this guy does. All the material is inspected before attempting any breaks and as for the bat it's actually a Louisville Slugger. And he's not acting like a tough guy, he's trying to keep himself psyched up for the next break. Why do people always have to hate on what they can't do? Does it make you feel better about your own incompetences? Get your facts straight before you bash what you know nothing about.

    I watched lots of videos about breaking bricks or concrete, and that's one question always in my mind
    the bricks or layers of concrete are often separated by tiles placed at the edges, leaving a small gap in between, what's the purpose for that?

    @miraclemuaythai I agree with you, if your talking about running through an entire Kata. If you learn katas, and what the reasons for your steps are, then your body begins to learn muscle memory, and instead of having to rigidly go through the steps, your body can reflexively act against an attack.

    Drew is my close personal friend and bodyguard. Yes, I remember when he was a young acolyte anxious to learn self defense. I told him to wash my car. His birth name was...Kung Fu Panda. I said.." You won't get too far in the world of martial arts with a silly name like that." I rescheduled luncheon appointments with the Pope and Queen Elizabeth in order to give me time to come up with the now World Famous name...Drew Serrano. I turned down many movie roles in order to give my full attention to Drew's training. One of them was a 20 million dollar non speaking role in the soft porn classic..." The mute dude who satisfied 101 nymphomaniacs ". Directed by Frank Capra and released by Disney. Seriously though, I would want this dude on my side in an alley fight.

    @Useless02 ...For competitions run by the USBA/WBA and ISKA carpenter pencil spacers are common. For Power Breaking, spacers allow for a greater variation in amount broken making it easier to determine a winner. It also decreases the chance of injury by allowing some "give" even if all of the material is not broken. For example, 3 concrete patio blocks without spacers would be an impressive break, but such a small amount limits variation from competitor to competitor.

    that what u called boast, pride. but the main thing of the martial art is to be humble and lay down urself not showing them what uve got and how tough u r.. always remember the power/purpose of this art is to protect but not to impress anybody. martial is about discipline, control, protect. is about peace of mind and stay calm. not pissed off mind and stay dumb.

  • @shkotay
    @shkotay 14 років тому

    @highic My bad, I had a brain fart about the chi thing. However long thin staffs tend to flex/break off when you hit them in the middle, while at the same time not delivering too big an impact. The hard force drives the end to bend heavily, and wood will shatter after a certain point. Gotta train for it yeah, but physics explains those breaks quite easily. That being said, breaking anything isnt easy and one does have to apply themselves. I havent done it in years myself.
