Oddly enough I have the DeWalt and the Milwaukee M18. I love both for very different reasons. I find the DeWalt is great straight on with the trigger system. For turning the tool in certain situations the Milwaukee is great. They both perform great with the trigger control on the DeWalt handy for variable speed situations. The Milwaukee I find is great where the constant speed is used. You cannot go wrong with both!
I just got mine yesterday. It was a free tool when I had to buy a battery /charger combo as a promo sale. They have fixed the problem with the sanding head. It no longer slides on but that gave them the ability to make the tool required problem go away. It can easily be done with fingers now and my hands are bigger than yours.
Just got mine today, from Home Depot . The bundle for 99$ plus tax … comes with a 1.5 battery plus the dual charger, one wood blade, couple sanding pads and a Milwaukee tool bag… 99$ for the win 😊
I've got a small bunch of Milwaukee M18 stuff, and I've been looking at this multi-tool too. All my kit is the 'basic' non brush-less versions which many people will scoff at but - my tools are not for my job, they are for home DIY projects, most kit spends 99% of the time in its case in the garage! The brushed kit is perfect for me - the price difference is significant. Nice review, I reckon I'll look for a deal on one of these. Nice review!
Thank you! I have tools that I have been using for years in the trade, and they are not brushless. If you don’t need them everyday it’s not worth the extra money. They still get the job done. Thanks for watching!
That was very helpful to me. I just bought a house last year and have to do some work where I needed this tool. I bought the cheaper one because as you said, I don’t know how often I will use it. I am going to be doing some cutting and light sanding. Thank you!
Hey Brad. Thanks for the heads up. I just got this Multi tool from my son for Christmas. Just a homeowner who likes to do as much as I can to save a buck around the house. I think this tool is a pretty cool addition to my bag. Going to try it out for removing old tile on a countertop. Should do the job. Glad I already have a decent sander for bigger jobs, but I think for cutting it will get it done. Good video. Thanks.
@@hammerandhome Had issues with the M18 1.5 battery dying out fast. Besides that worked out well. Any upgrade battery recommendations? Really dig the tool, just frustrating having to recharge it so often. Thanks!
I appreciate this review. I just bought my 2626 and appreciate you showing how to change attachments - I needed to use mine today for sanding. I didn't understand what FUEL meant until a week ago, even though I have 3 other Milwaukee M18s.
Thanks for answering my question about the 3 different blade rotation angles. The other videos did not mention this feature and it was crucial to my needs.
I'm a carpenter and my platform is milwuakee the small exception of carrying a screwdriver wouldn't change a thing you could get an electrical testing screwdriver its only the width of a flat pencil so its un noticeable
I'm a homeowner. Almost ten years ago now i bought the Milwauke M18 combo set to replace my 14.4V NiCad Makita drill and it was a great decision. The lithium ion batteries are light years ahead of the old tech. I'm considering one of these multi-tools, which is how I stumbled upon this video. I saw another video where a guy was using one for cutting vinyl siding. [side note: i've seen people using snips (cheap), reversed saw blades (ok), and a multi tool (great), but the best method of cutting siding that I saw was using a cordless cutoff saw.] My father-in-law has DeWalt gear, and I like some things about DeWalt, and others I like better in Milwaukee. ALL of my Milwaukee batteries have a 4-bar power gauge. The DeWalts only have it on the bigger batteries. My Milwaukee drill and 1/4" impact driver have a little LED under the chuck that really doesn't adequately light up the work area, as it's offset. The DeWalt pair has 3 LEDs around the chuck in a triangular orientation that works so much better. My Milwaukee lantern is awesome, but DeWalt doesn't make one. I have a Milwaukee stick LED light as well and DeWalt also has on; no major differences here, but I think the DW is more flexible and the MW has more hooks for hanging it... Bottom line is that they both make good gear, but not everything is perfect. It seems like these brands, and Ridgid, Makita, Bosch, and maybe a few others really make decent stuff. It's a little pricey, but it lasts.
I bought this over the fuel because it's a good tool and a lot cheaper. I just saw it on eBay for $78 (July 2024), hard to beat, the fuel is twice that. I don't use it everyday but it's handy when I need it. BTW Milwaukee redesigned the sanding holder, now it's flush.
Thanks Brad. First time viewer. As others here have said this is just the review I was looking for. I am not a contractor and I just want to know if the tool is recommended for occasional home use. Period. My tools are just for that and I am in the market for an oscillating multi tool. The tools I have are the M18 line and I am very happy with their performance. I’ve been looking into this tool or the fuel model but you can’t beat the price if the performance is there. I suspected the fuel would be overkill for me but it’s reassuring to hear it from someone who I’m sure has more experience than me. Enjoyed the review and I will check out your others
Thanks for doing all these reviews. I bought the set of these older tools at home depot and thanks to your reviews on all that was included I feel like I got a great deal for 400 and included a xc 6.0 battery to boot. I always have buyers remorse so thank you even more for being so thorough. I'll upgrade to fuel slowly.
Sweet! My parents own a Servpro franchise and have great prices on these tools for the guys. We might place an order with corporate for these tools to take advantage of the special pricing they offer.

Spent $129 on this plus taxes. Didn’t go for the Fuel because it’s for projects here at come. I had such a hard time figuring out how to change the blade therefore I came here. Thank you for your review on this!
I too like the Dewalt Trigger, but my platforms are Milwaukee and Makita. I just used a Dewalt to open up some lath and plaster, wow I was taken back by its power and ease of use to replace the blades. My old unit is a corded Bosch, 17 years old.. works great, but the cordless and the technology these days is pretty amazing! Guess I need to go fondle the tools at the Poe House and see which wins.. It would be nice if I could actually test drive each tool first.
Currently (16/05/23) screwfix (U.K.) is selling this for £99.99 body only comes with one wood blade and the sanding attachment with a few sandpapers (this isn’t including a battery but I got mine today and apparently there’s a code going that will get you a battery with it for a better price)
thanks.. I have m18 batteries so the M18 is the go to. I see your point re the superiority of Dewalt but the sunk cost in batteries is making my decision.
One of the problems with this Milwaukee Oscillating tool is that after a lot of use, the locking mechanism does not work very well and you are forced to make sure the bolt is tightened good with a screwdriver or the tool eventually comes loose. I guess if you don't use it a lot, it isn't a problem but, generally, people are not going to spend the big bucks on a Milwaukee tool that is rarely used when you can buy a Ryobi Oscillating tool for much less that does the job. Plus the Ryobi stands up on the battery, which may or may not be an issue. I did notice the Rigid Oscillating tool is similar in design to the Milwaukee where it doesn't stand up.
Mine died after doing drywall (3 levels) in a home for investors im employed by. I blew it out daily and plan on taking it apart to see if I can rebuild it. Mine didn’t see heavy daily use till a couple months ago. In meantime, I was going to buy the Fuel version for around 240 bare tool, but was at Lowes and picked up a Dewalt XR with a 1.7 power stack battery for 183 out the door. I know the Fuel is quicker, but I had issues with the adjuster dial being locked in same speed etc. I believe the M18 Brushed is faster initially over the XR I just bought, but I can’t afford to not even get a year out of a power tool. Personally, if one is working in heavy drywall dust, a mask for your lungs and Brushless tools for longevity. If you’re working in a wood shop with no drywall dust and are an occasional use DIYer, the M18 Brushed will be just fine. I’m really hoping to rebuild my M18 Brushed Multi Tool when I have free time.
Just got this m18 tool from HD for $90 including battery- not a bad deal. Apparently Milwaukee has addressed the sanding attachment issue-on mine the screw sits up much higher so your fingers don’t have to go into the hole to tighten, problem solved!
This tool has saved my butt a few times when doing repairs around the house, most recently in repairing rotten subfloor panels. Blades for these things are expensive no matter what brand. One other thing, these tools won’t cut anything soft, it probably won’t break the skin unless you press really hard. They are basically just like the saw a doctor uses to cut off a plaster cast.
i would disagree on the skin. if you have a wood blade on this, forgetabout it, your getting stitches. Ive walked passed this thing and got cut up. the metal blades or fine tooth blades are perhaps not as sharp but definitely not a tool to ignore.
I just used my Milwaukee version for the first time yesterday. Bare tool was $99. I can say I don't care for the blade change. I also see that Lowes has the DeWalt with battery and charger for $99. But once your married to Milwaukee for all cordless tools, you might not want to switch. I don't want to leave the house with only 1 battery. Nice review. Thanks.
Great honest unbiased review. I'm a Milwaukee guy only because I'm married to the battery system at this point. I do like a lot of things about the Dewalt multi tool but then I'd have to start another battery ecosystem so it's a tough call for me. I don't know about Dewalt but Milwaukee has some spectacular deals on older new stock if you don't mind being a generation behind the latest and greatest model. I'm actually leaning towards a Dewalt because I love the quick release blade changing system.
Great review. It answered many of the questions I had. As a side note; the first time you put a blade on you practiced safety by removing the battery first. After that, you didn’t; even when both of you were holding the sanding pad. Just saying. Thank you for time.
Thanks for the review! I am looking to buy some first time tools for my husband and I'm just doing some research on them. Would you be able to use this tool to make ceiling holes?
you can but if you need to make round holes for pot lights i would recommend a drill with a hole saw bit, This is a great tool for home Renovations, so many applications.
Hello, Im looking to get tools to keep in the house for projects and so on. Im settle on any brand yet. I noticed Home Depot has a deal you get a drill, and impact plus a tool of your choice between a multi-tool jigsaw and a huge speaker. Im not new to tools I know how to use them, and the difference that good tools make when doing something. What you guys recommend? Psa can do m18 impact gun be used to remove lugs from a tire?
both Milwaukee and Dewalt are great brands, as well as bosch and Mikita. I have a lot of all of them. for woodworking type jobs I find dewalt is the best option, they have lots of sales on, the battery platform is great, and they are tough tools, Milwaukee is more geared to plumbers, electricians, Mechanics etc. they have great tools but can be a bit more pricey and they dont have as many sales. hope that helps a bit
Milwaukee doesn’t use the starlock system, I haven’t tried fitting a starlock blade on it, but it is possible it might. Sorry I couldn’t give you a definitive answer.
I think the fuel is a bit better on vibration than this one. all multi tools are bad at vibrating, if i have to use them alot, I will put on some thick gloves to help.I haven't used the Makita so I can't say if it's any better,
Does the size of the battery affect the power/cutting strength? How long does a 1.5 battery last? I’m just starting out buying tools for the first time and really want a multi tool! Thanks!
Technically the size of the battery shouldn’t effect the power output of the tool. However I have found that it does affect some tools. The 1.5 really don’t last very long and it all depends on how hard. You are working the tool. I try to get the 3.0 cp for most of my tools. And if I need larger run times I will go to the 4.0 xc
Once you buy a milwaukee, it becomes very expensive very quickly because trust me, you will want to keep adding to that range, I started with brushless impact and drill kit, then got fuel grinder, fuel circular saw, fuel sawzall, sander, soldering iron, rotary tool, strimmer and now bought this multitool. Is there an AA like clinic for tool addiction? (that sounded wrong). For sanding it great, random orbits are great, but this can go in where the orbital cannot on rectangular areas such as stairs.
I think you are right on point..what are you using the tool for..how often...those were my questions and I went with this model...I just purchased it during the Home Depot Black Friday Sales, I purchased it for $99 USD with a 1.5 Battery..I used it yesterday to remove some chair rail and base board as I was installing door casing ... ate right through it... was happy. I too don't like the on/off switch but not a game changer...really never used the sanding block. Thanks for verifying my purchase. BTW nice video.
Thank you! It’s definitely all about what each individual need. Everyone has different likes and dislikes when it comes to tools. So happy we have so much to choose from. Great buy by the way. Thanks for watching
i bought that multi tool and it scrapped several of my batteries the locking brakets became worn very fast and even the holding brackets on the tool worn to a point that the battery became loose. i also had to force the battery off because the release buttons would not release the battery. i changed the casing and got the same problem. i ended up returning the tool for a refund and bought instead the big radio :). Anyways not sure if i was just unlucky but this tool was a disaster for me. has anyone else had this problem?
Used mine for 45 min brand new and it took a crap. Then home depot makes me pay 30 dollars to return it to get refurbished. It didn't even work new. I want my money back
As someone who used porter cable before having enough money to buy milwaukee, this oscilating tool sucks compared to the porter cable one. With the porter cable one I can quickly detach the heads and offset them, this one I have to loosen a screw? Why? The inferior product wins in this competition...
This was some really good info. Reminds me of the tool shows I use to watch with my Grandpa on Sunday afternoons. BTW, (grabs blade) "That's h o t...." Said every tool guy ever. lol.
No your making shit up. No doubt the nob that you twist to hand tighten the particular tool attachment is metal and designed for a flat head screw driver. How spoiled are we? You could have used one of your keys or a dime. It’s an awesome tool. The bigger question is the new brushless model worth the extra expense. Is it as dependable?
Milwaukee dropped the ball on the damn screw. My brother has the Dewalt and being able to change on the fly is great. I am apart of the red army so I went Milwaukee and it works great but changing heads is.much easier with Dewalt. The yellow just looks horrible with everything else I have. Lmao. I guess 1 out of a dozen tools Dewalt had to get 1. Lol
Yoh anyone need any tools i can get you what ever tool and what ever quantity. As long as its not a damn lawn mower or something. It has 2 be able to fit undwr my pants and not be bulky:) Sike!!!!! But, i am remembering how many tools i barrowed but never returned in my teenage years just to take my girl friends around and have fun. Its sad and its depressing feeling like shit knowing how expensive and the work ppl do to own one of these. When some ppl including my stupid ass would resale them for stupid cheap. It aint worth it man. The feeling you get from a tool that you have worked hard for is priceless especially when u complete a project. I dont know bout other ppl but i felt bad using stolen tools
i'll never fully change, just like seeing whats out there, I have been on the bosch, festool, milwaukee and Dewalt platforms for ever. time to check out the RED. thanks for watching

It’s for a small spot here n there not an every day sander. Most guys use em as a dedicated cutting tool
I got the non fuel m12 sawzall, it's smaller than the fuel and gets the job done with a 6.0 battery and a diablo demon metal blade
nice set up, thanks for watching
Is this the 2626-20 model?
you can use the round edge of the blade as screw driver to replace the blade
another reason why I like the dewalt, but that's a great tip! thanks for watching
can you use a 6.6 battery
is that tool compatible with both old and new starlock system blades?
Milwaukee doesn’t use the starlock system, I haven’t tried fitting a starlock blade on it, but it is possible it might. Sorry I couldn’t give you a definitive answer.
Thank you
How is the vibration on this vs the Fuel and the other newer ones? Would love to get Makita's newest one, but i can't justify the price
I think the fuel is a bit better on vibration than this one. all multi tools are bad at vibrating, if i have to use them alot, I will put on some thick gloves to help.I haven't used the Makita so I can't say if it's any better,
How does it do cutting round duct? Yes they have great tools for cutting duct, I'm just curious how this would do.
i don't think it would be the greatest, just use wiss snips
Does the size of the battery affect the power/cutting strength? How long does a 1.5 battery last? I’m just starting out buying tools for the first time and really want a multi tool! Thanks!
Technically the size of the battery shouldn’t effect the power output of the tool. However I have found that it does affect some tools. The 1.5 really don’t last very long and it all depends on how hard. You are working the tool. I try to get the 3.0 cp for most of my tools. And if I need larger run times I will go to the 4.0 xc
Like your review Brother, Thanks for the time.
Thanks you, happy you liked it!
Reviewing the red tool with all the yellow ones behind you. Is this not going to be biased by default?
Lol. I don’t think so, I have tools from every brand you can think of. I just happen to mostly be on the DEWALT platform.
Yeah I definitely have a bit of a tool addiction, always looking for that deal. I’m definitely loving my new m12 fuel multi tool.
Tiffany did great camera work!
Thanks!
What??? My friend just sold a brand new one for a 20 dollar bag of dope????:0
What is the serial number on this tool
Is the “FUEL” version that much better? Thinking of getting one for Christmas for my pops
It is! It’s night and day.
@@hammerandhome thx for your reply 👍
i bought that multi tool and it scrapped several of my batteries the locking brakets became worn very fast and even the holding brackets on the tool worn to a point that the battery became loose. i also had to force the battery off because the release buttons would not release the battery. i changed the casing and got the same problem. i ended up returning the tool for a refund and bought instead the big radio :). Anyways not sure if i was just unlucky but this tool was a disaster for me. has anyone else had this problem?
The FUEL version has almost no vibration in the handle making it much nicer to use for long periods.
This one vibrates a lot more?
@@carlandrews5810 I've only used the FUEL version which has almost no vibration. Couldn't have done my kitchen reno without it.
I don’t get why the hell every multi tool doesn’t have the dewalt style quick release
good question!
Good video but it looks like it is made mostly for wood! Not sure it could out preform I grinder ??
definitely pick a grinder over this any day. or a sawzall with a metal blade. I almost never use it for metal
Lots of places I would rather use this as it doesn't create sparks like the grinder.
Thanks for the info
You bet
Is this thing brushed or brushless?
this version is Brushed, check out the M12 Fuel, it's amazing
Thank you for your insights.
Your welcome, thx for watching
Right now northern tool has a sale you get the tool a 2ah battery bag and charger for 99 dollars. Can’t beat it
sweet!
Mine was 188 plus tax Canadian got it.free.w a battery tho
I got the brushed one to see if I like it. I’ll be getting a fuel when this one bites the dust.
Good plan. Thx for watching
This one being reviewed is brushed?
Not a fan. My first one quit after about a month. Milwaukee replaced it. The new replacement quit a month later. It's now in Milwaukee e-repair.
Try the m12fuel. It’s my favourite so far
I like the on /off button......I will never be cutting nails with mine
Is this tool brushless
Watch the fckn video and pay attention me mentioned it multiple times
Have problem changing all blades with gloves on. Mouse are noisy too
Yeah I can’t believe how noisy multi tools can be.
Where can I send you some wine and cheese?
Used mine for 45 min brand new and it took a crap. Then home depot makes me pay 30 dollars to return it to get refurbished. It didn't even work new. I want my money back
wow thats crazy, sorry to here that
Is a screw driver that big of a deal ? 🤔 But good point on the sander head vs the orbital sander.👍
it's not that big of a deal, ive been using dewalt for so long it's just another step with the Milwaukee
You dont need a screwdriver if you open the lever fully to 180°. Gives you plenty of slack and fingertight is plenty
I agree, I use the m12 all the time and realized that a while ago. Cheers
I like the Dewalt oscillating tool wayyyyy better!
me too
Was there no sand paper on the sander? 😂😂 edit nevermind there was.
6.2 battery
Just the warranty alone would persuade me to Milwaukee over Dewalt. Milwaukee 5 year, Dewalt 1 year
good point for sure
As someone who used porter cable before having enough money to buy milwaukee, this oscilating tool sucks compared to the porter cable one. With the porter cable one I can quickly detach the heads and offset them, this one I have to loosen a screw? Why? The inferior product wins in this competition...
This was some really good info. Reminds me of the tool shows I use to watch with my Grandpa on Sunday afternoons. BTW, (grabs blade) "That's h o t...." Said every tool guy ever. lol.
Home depot has m18 multi tool kit with battery and charger on sale for $99 .
Sweet!
I have the m12 fuel and it definitely cuts better than this model. It’s all I use now.
It’s been a year later and maybe someone was listening to you because they elevated the pins and now they screw easily with your fingers:-)
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Milwaukee dropped the ball on the damn screw. My brother has the Dewalt and being able to change on the fly is great. I am apart of the red army so I went Milwaukee and it works great but changing heads is.much easier with Dewalt. The yellow just looks horrible with everything else I have. Lmao. I guess 1 out of a dozen tools Dewalt had to get 1. Lol
lol, I almost always use the m12 fuel version. It’s fairly quick to change the blade. And is far better than the dewalt
Both Milwaukee and DeWalt great options!
Yoh anyone need any tools i can get you what ever tool and what ever quantity. As long as its not a damn lawn mower or something. It has 2 be able to fit undwr my pants and not be bulky:)
Sike!!!!!
M18 Fuel oscillating saw really rocks. It is far better than this Milwaukee.
Why you chanching to milwaukee you are a dewalt guy
i'll never fully change, just like seeing whats out there, I have been on the bosch, festool, milwaukee and Dewalt platforms for ever. time to check out the RED. thanks for watching
This guy complains to much lol. I love removing that blade function without having to look for the stupid Allen wrench. If it’s hot stick a flat screwdriver or anything flat easy removal. But the Dewalt easy detachable function is a lot nicer
It's a screw driver who cares. It is a dumb design 🤠
Stick to dewalt
Total garbage.Not worth the money
