Tuning the Fisher 1225X Metal Detector

  • Here is a demo of how I like to tune my 30+ year old metal detector - the Fisher 1225X, specifically for coinshooting but with the chance for a ring, too!
The 1225X has a Discrimination knob that goes from 0 to 10, and a Sensitivity knob that goes from 0 to 10 as well.
It has a Pinpoint button that sets Discrimination to 0 to pick up all metals, and is turned on/off by turning the Discrimination knob counterclockwise past the 0 setting.
Additionally, the 1225X's Sensitivity knob doubles as a Battery Tester by turning the knob counterclockwise past the 0 setting.
There should be a steady and loud signal when the test is good. If the sound fades, is low in volume, or fades, it is likely the batteries need to be replaced... do recommend using the Headphone Jack to prolong the battery life.
For reference, I have my 1225X set at 5.5 Discrimination and 6.5 Sensitivity. It allows for finding Nickels, some trash like foil and pull tabs but at least there is a "crackling" noise, Clad Coins, and Silver and Gold Rings!
    Hope this helps!

Thank You Very Much for making a Video for this Detector. Got this one 25 years ago and forgot how to use it.

Would there be a big difference between the fisher 1265X model and the current metal detectors on the market, please?. Thx!

Not certain... I liked the 1225x and the simple button layout and feel it is as effective for coinshooting as newer detectors.

That Fisher is very similar disc wise to my Tesoro's. Thanks for sharing!

Cool! I have had to change it up or down .5 depending on the ground conditions... but these settings seem to be spot on in tot lots.

A good detector, my deepest find is a swedish coin from 1680, was around 40 cm deep in muddy soil

I had an old RadioShack set but it finally quit working after many years. Currently use a Bounty Hunter purchased on Amazon. Mainly use headphones that have volume controls since the 1225x does not have one.

Не впевнений, де продається котушка. Вдалого пошуку. 1225X зробив для мене добре!
