I have an identical 1235X that I inherited from my Dad. I used it a coupe of times, but now it is completely dead. You mentioned restoring yours. Is there a common failure point in these metal detectors? Thanks!
Honestly, no. They're usually very reliable. It won't power on at all I'd start by checking the battery connections for corrosion or broken leads. I did "restore" this one but everything I saw inside was well made and sturdy American quality, they were not cheap units in their day. Fisher has pride in craftsmanship. I'd take it apart, follow the wires from the battery connections and maybe you'll see something. Or, see if you can take the coil connection apart, maybe a wire came off it's solder post. That's the plug at the end if the long wire. Should be a tiny screw under the screw collar and 2 that clamp it onto the wire. There's 4 or 5 colored wires that can break off from being bent too much or pulled too hard. Great machine to learn on because you don't have a screen to pay attention to, just your ears once you set it up. Good luck, and at the very worst it still doesn't work but you'll always remember where you got it.
I bought one of those new and its had very little use, actually going on a fun seeded hunt tomorrow and bringing that out to use it because they don't allow PI detectors.
thanks, that was our Indian Summer and the temps hovered aroung 40 all week, we got about 4 or 5 inches of thaw and got rid of a lot of snow, but of course, today and yester day we got another 8" and tomorrow might bring us another 3-5.... I'll be digging in a couple months, thanks for sticking it out with me. SBD, Jay
Thanks, I have millions invested in my camera crew, equipment and theatrical training, and when all that failed i got a cheap point and shoot camera with video and faked it all, lol. Thanks for watching.
The 1235x is a good machine I sold my back in 2000 and bought a CZ7A pro, Wish I had kept it also. but my CZ is very good at finding gold rings, even chain.
Good deal JM! I hunted there a couple times and my first find there one morning before work was a silver ring. Besides that I've never found anything good there, but hey you never know! Boy you got that machine working like a champ. A man of many talents!
thanks Guy, I like that place because there is no bleacher and people just sit on that little hill and stuff falls out of there pockets, tons of clad there.
thanks, I'm asking $200 or best offer. I've seen this machine sell on ebay (when you can find them) and they go for anywhere from $175 with major wear, to $300 in pristine condition. This one looks better in person and the photo I used is just a generic one from google images. Same coil but the one in the pic has the "1235-X" on the face plate where mine says "Fisher M Scope". It's from when Fisher was not with Texas First and still in Cali not Texas.
Nice find. You should have no problem in selling that Machine after the demo you just put on..won't last the weekend. Send the Merc to the new buyer as well. Loved it.
thanks KeithK, No offers yet but it's the dead of winter too that might be why, plus I don't have it up on ebay yet and don't thing alot of people look on youtube for used detectors...
It was a total shock. This field has been reworked to make the soccer field like 20 years ago so I could have come in with a load of fill... But I'll take it. Thanks JJ.
Well, i only bought it to restore and sell, plus i've got new machine on layaway so I don't want to dip into my savings to pay it of ya know. But if it doesn't sell, i guess that'll be ok tool
It would be a good first detector to learn the sounds of targets and not have to depend on a VDI or number read out to tell you what you might get and have it be wrong most of the time... If you figure out a way to get the money or make me and offer, let me know.
Right? well I already put a deposite on a new machine and it's on layaway with Russ B so if this one doesn't sell by the time uncle Sam is done with my money and gives it back, maybe I will keep it. It's a cool machine and performs better than I would expect for a 20+ year old machine.
Strange how the old analogs work so well. New ones may get better depth and tell you more about what you may have but they're just as wrong as not knowing. If it does not sell by tax returns I just might keep it and by the new one anyway lol. I do like it.
Nice Work! Maybe I should try something like this with my Whites Coinmaster 6000/D G.E.B. If I pull a 1978 penny, I may be able to get what I paid for it. It was also an eBay item. Good job! My normal detector is a Minelab Xterra 305. Much nicer on the shoulder. Good Luck!
For some reason all your comments have been missing the "Reply" button when in the comment section of my vids, I found that in "COMMUNITY" (here) there is a "Reply" button so I'm replying...better late than never I 'spose... thanks.
I may have replied in Google+. I use a tablet most times. Which sucks because the UA-cam app will not let you reply separately to comments. They make you use a computer for that.
Ill make a video tonight and post it from my phone about the metal detector i use so you can give me intel on it. Great video of yours. I am sure it will sell quick.
Hi NH, nice video, nice first coin! if you dont sell the fisher, then you could use it for a prize? lol :) i look forward to more videos soon HH,cheers,g.:)
Lol,almost makes ya wanna keep it when your test dig it finds silver don'it?Lol Happy Hunting Oh,as soon as I have the funds I'll send you that pinpounter to fix for me. Latter
No sweat Thomas, send it when you can. BTW, not trying to make you buy it but a machine like this one would be great for you, especially since you can hip mount it, weighs nothing then. Just saying, I can work on the price with you if you were interested. There is no number ID or anything and it's single tone with volume for depth. Take some getting used to but a damn nice little machine even though it's 20 years old.
Yeah thanks for the thought, but I really want to get one that has the number readout so I have a better idea of what I may be digging up. I like the hip mount part, but I really need a machine that will give me a little more info, thats why I'm looking at either the F2 or the Eurotech.
No prob man, I understand. I just wanted to give my peeps first dibs before I throw it up on ebay. I think either of those machines would do you just fine, they're almost the same really, both made in the same factory by First Texas, just like Bounty hunter ( I think the discovery 3000 is that version), Kinda like Ford, Mercury and Lincoln... good better best, Bounty hunter, Teknetics and Fisher.
Still keep my 1235X with the added 11in coil for quick recons in new sites.
Great ears only machine.

the first whole you dug was absolutely perfect in roundness, even with one hand very impressive!!!!
Haha, thanks man.
Sweet detector, I really like the hip mount option. Nice find on the dime too.
Thanks, it really lightens up the machine but counterbalancing it make sit pull down on your wrist less but this doesn't have that option....yet.
i have a goldbug but different M-scope, i think mine is much older m-scope
Joms F i do like the " ears only" machines.
gonna keep mine for a while and maybe will try to modify it
Silver bingo that was awesom. congrats Iknow i am a little late.
I'm late too, it's ok lol.
Way cool big guy! We really enjoy your diggin' vids.

I promise i did NOT plant that dime... NOT MY STYLE, and was I surprised....
I read on a forum that the 1235X is good on salt water beach sand. Can you substantiate this?
Whom ever you hears that from probably knows more about it than I do. I have heard the same.
nice start silver jay cool :-) ...looks like a good machine
It's pretty nice, simple but deadly accurate and pretty deep once you get used to it.
Perfect picture quality. I'm allways learning techniques from your vids.
Thanks, I have millions invested in my camera crew, equipment and theatrical training, and when all that failed i got a cheap point and shoot camera with video and faked it all, lol. Thanks for watching.

polunu880 I've heard great things on the CZ line too.
Good deal JM! I hunted there a couple times and my first find there one morning before work was a silver ring. Besides that I've never found anything good there, but hey you never know! Boy you got that machine working like a champ. A man of many talents!

the target was slightly on edge , i can hear it clippin' and doublebeep -and yes i have the 1235 myself
Thats a good md ..what are you asking for it ?
thanks, I'm asking $200 or best offer. I've seen this machine sell on ebay (when you can find them) and they go for anywhere from $175 with major wear, to $300 in pristine condition. Sweet score and start to 2014:)
Thanks Axel.
Great review video Jay, and how surprised were you at finding that Merc in the first hole?
It was a total shock. This field has been reworked to make the soccer field like 20 years ago so I could have come in with a load of fill... But I'll take it. Thanks JJ.
used one for a summer back in the day scored a nice ring with it!!
Hi Jay. So your first find was a Merc? You sure you wanna sell it? lol Nice restoration Jay. ttyl -Drew
Well, i only bought it to restore and sell, plus i've got new machine on layaway so I don't want to dip into my savings to pay it of ya know. But if it doesn't sell, i guess that'll be ok tool
That would be awsome to buy that it seems to work great and would be a great first detector if i had the money

Great video. I just purchased one for $15...I will let you know how I do.
+Lori Rehfeldt Nice deal Lori... they're really great machines, I paid $60 for mine and sold it for $80 a few months later. Best of luck with yours.
How could you possibly start the year off any better. Maybe you should keep that machine. LOL GL&HH
Right? well I already put a deposite on a new machine and it's on layaway with Russ B so if this one doesn't sell by the time uncle Sam is done with my money and gives it back, maybe I will keep it. It's a cool machine and performs better than I would expect for a 20+ year old machine.
Remember that old White's Coinmaster that I picked from Craig's List, that 80's machine dominated the nailboard test.
Strange how the old analogs work so well. New ones may get better depth and tell you more about what you may have but they're just as wrong as not knowing. If it does not sell by tax returns I just might keep it and by the new one anyway lol. I do like it.

Will do id love to get into the hobby
Hi NH, nice video, nice first coin! if you dont sell the fisher, then you could use it for a prize? lol :) i look forward to more videos soon HH,cheers,g.:)
