    When i worked at a used car dealer we would have guys come through introduce themselves as a new detail business. We would ask about pricing and to see examples of their work. Sometime would have them detail a car so we knew the before and after. If we had work for them we would send it

    Ive started with mainly family cars. And also passed out cards. And i think cards still work. Older ppl or whatever there are still people that take cards, flyers, pens, whatever into consideration. When im givin out cards flyers etc I feel like theyre lookin at me being a young black female like ok i see u out here doin your thing. That's not something you see often. But i feel like passing the cards specifically to ppl is more personal they see who's doin the work. And i guess it could also work with u havin ur face or showin u do the work on social media perhaps but u could also possibly get closer to closing a deal right then too. But yea I'm taking it all in. Thx

    Hi Oscar! This is a simple yet great advice. I am also planning to start my business and as start I need, most probably, do few friendly detail while I'm discussing with them how do they find how I clean their car? are they aware that their car can be cleaned like this, are they willing to pay me such money for this kind of service. Then there goes the recommendation and their support for you. Looking forward for more practical tips. :)

    Oscar, I have a friend that is wanting me to detail trucks that he has for a hot shot business. He has seen my work I've done on my car and he is always impressed but I've only done basic stuff. He has a friend that has a very small car lot and they contacted me about doing them. Think I'd be biting off more than I can chew? I have a full time job and a family.

    • @DetailGroove
      @DetailGroove  7 років тому

      If that's the case, then simply start doing it on the weekend. By no means should you leave your day job for this. Talk it out with them and see if they want all their cars with a basic car wash, maybe the cars that can make more money should be detailed, maybe you can come in on a few days throughout the week, maybe you can just come in on the weekends, etc... I would go for it, especially if it's basic work. But do this as a side business for extra income, do not leave your day job

    Hey there, my name is Adrian, company is Revive Details based out of Cape Coral, FL. Ive been detailing for a while now, worked for a guy that was a national trainer, so I learned a lot. Now Ive had my own been business for about seven months. Started knocking on doors got my first few customers that way. Now I’ve slowed down, and honestly getting worried. I try fb ads all the time, small return of calls that usually don’t lead to jobs. So my question is, what is my next best option?

  • @CodeCodeM
    @CodeCodeM 7 років тому +2

    Hello,
    So I am just starting out my business and after I get off my feet I was thinking about going to go door to door to houses with preferably dirty cars and ask them if I could detail their cars and give them flyers and business cards. Have any of you guys tried this out or do you think it would be worth the time?
    Thanks,
    Cody

    • @DetailGroove
      @DetailGroove  7 років тому +2

      Just because a car is dirty does not mean they want/need/care for getting their car detailed. If you walk out in any parking lot, 80% of the cars will need a headlight restoration. How many of those people are willing to pay money to get them done properly? Maybe 10%.
      In my opinion, door to door doesn't work because most people aren't going to open the door, talk to a complete stranger, and then pay that complete stranger $X to get their car detailed.
      That's just my personal take

    Do you ask for permission to do so ahead of time?
