  • Should you install electric cooling fans in your ride? Here are some things to be aware of.
Note: I forgot to mention in the video that when converting pusher/puller fans, in addition to reversing polarity for proper airflow the blade may need to be flipped over.

Interesting video, I put a very entry level 350 sbc in my 82' z28 it never had problems cooking with the 305 but afterwards it would get hot in many scenarios particularly heavy traffic or the drive through.
I went out and bought the champion 3 row aluminum rad with the dual shrouded puller fans and relays. It works really well. I'm going with an upgraded top end this summer so I'll have to keep an eye on the temps

Excellent video. LOVE that clear distributor. I live in Arizona and My F150 is always struggling to keep cool. I have an electric fan that I helps mostly in traffic and at lights. Part of my issue is that my truck is lifted so the fan stays with the engine and the radiator and shroud stay with the frame so its only cooling the bottom half (the cooler half) of the radiator. You really have me thinking about the efficacy of each fan, I'm not sure that measuring the power needed to run each correlates with cooling efficiency although my gut tells me you are correct. Thanks for the great video. What about bypassing the clutch? I'm sure that would keep it cooler but at the cost of fuel efficiency.

Thank you for information and all videos I see in YT is only switching from clutch to electric and "HOW COOL ELECTRIC FAN " I like clutch fan why : easy to maintain and better cooling, low cost so on.

good vedio! My problem is why the Japanese offroad car, lc300 or lc200 still use clutch fans?

Good video, but next time, please use a lapel mic. It allows us to better understand your words and cuts background noise.

Not everyone wants, or has the ability to just go out and get a mic

@@probiethetank8825 I understand. Burt someone told me that Apple sells a very affordable mic for iPhones. Not all lapel mics work with iPhones. Good luck! (From you clip I did learn to keep the motor fan instead of going to an electric one for better cooling.)

This is kind of bull cause there are electric fans that will flow 5000 cfm all the time and that clutch fan probably only pulls that much at peak power witch you rarely ever in …

Listen more carefully to the video. I mentioned there are more powerful fans available that wouldn't fit my application. Still, no electric fan will pull as much air as a 200 HP V8 behind a clutch fan.
