The 3 Stooges demonstrate Curly's new atomic bong. From the '80s show Fridays. That is Larry David playing Larry. This sketch only aired once due to protests from the estate of Moe Howard.
The drug lord's name in this Three Stooges parody sketch is Vernon. I think he was named after the actor, Vernon Dent who played as the Stooges' nemesis in the Three Stooges shorts with Columbia Pictures.
These guys have the Stooges nailed. With the drug humor on top of the Stooges routine I laughed my buttcheeks off. Wish they'd done a full lengh feature like Cheech & Chong.
Holy crap, this is amazing! I'd seen one other of these Friday's Stooges sketches before but not this one. I don't think anyone has ever nailed the Curly persona better than John Roarke apart from Curly himself!
+brian leblanc THE FIRST ONE I SAW WAS "THE NUMB BOYS" JULY 18TH 1980 I WAS 24 AND WAS HAVING AN ACID PARTY THAT LAUNCHED ME BACK IN BUSINESS. @@BigG833I don't know if they had anyone in the cast (besides John Roarke) who could play Shemp. Michael Richards wouldn't pass for him. Besides, the Moe, Larry, and Curly trio is considered the most popular trio if we're talking about Three Stooges history. Also, Fridays only had two or three Three Stooges spoofs. They stopped when Moe Howard's estate threatened to sue them for using their likeness without permission.
They did a very respectable job,I laughed my ass off,Its hard to pull off the 3 stooges, but these guys did a good a job as Ive ever seen! # 3Stooges,Rock on.!!!!!!!!!!!$ ever!!!
This was Brilliant, they caught a little of every aspect of the stooges best moves, and dialog,This is a master work on many levels,I was very impressed Its like a little bit from many episodes put into one episode,Pure Genius.
I saw this when it was first on. The show fridays was doing better than SNL for a while. At the time the 3 stooges were very popular and many movie theaters had midnight three stooges festivals. These festivals were around for many years and only stopped when the Rocky Horror Picture Show replaced them.
Hey about some love to the hero who uploaded this. My old man told me back in the day LD did the best Larry impression before Billy west was crowned king.
The best Stooge spoof I have seen, though MAD TV's "De Trey Stoogez" comes close. Too bad the Moe Howard estate objected to the sketch. They, of all people, ought to have seen how faithful the writers and performers were. They even named the dealer Vernon, after longtime Stooge foil, Vernon Dent, who was in the film, Bedlam in Paradise, where they were trying to sell a gadget to him that wouldn't work, like the atomic bong in this sketch.
Thanks! I remember watching this and cracking up, while doing bong hits, lol. BTW, when this first aired there wasn't much pot humor on TV, maybe a first? It's so epic that it was one of the first things posted on UA-cam!
A classic. I remember another one they (same 3 actors as the stooges)did on "Fridays" where they ran a stop-smoking clinic. I think Michael Richards was their customer. Anyone have this one? Rockvision?
Whether or not you agree with the Three Stooges smoking weed, Larry David, Bruce Mahler and John Roarke all did very well mimicking the Stooges. Plus, I wouldn't have done the same thing but you look at three guys who are funny looking, act dopey, kick the crap out of each other but spend all their time together and sleep in the same bed, you'd say in 1980, "They existed today, they'd be on drugs." Plus, Moe's estate was overly sensitive.
I don't know why but this feels like watching a live action Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comic more than anything. Yes, I am referencing the fact that the Stooges were an influence
SOMEONE ONCE TOLD ME THEY CANCELLED THE SHOW BECAUSE IT WAS NOT IN LINE WITH RAGANS WAR ON DRUGS. I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH OF THAT WAS TRUE, BUT I'M YEARS OLD AND LIVED THROUGH 2 WARS ON DRUGS. STILL THEY KNEW WHEN TO QUIT. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE WAS NEVER REALLY FUNNY, WORSE NOW THEN EVER.
Three Stooges in a late 70s early 80s setting! In this one they're stoners! Anyone else laugh at the Jimi Hendrix poster? No sketch comedy shows in this day and age would do a sketch on the Stooges!
The ONLY bits are remember from the few times I watched Fridays back in the day are of the 3 Stooges getting stoned, that shit still makes me laugh! Pretty lame show otherwise but those bits were funny as shit! Thanks for posting!
That was pretty stupid. But worth a bunch of chuckles. And I'm not even stoned. : ) I really want to see the "That's Meshuggah" sketch from Fridays. I remember seeing it when it originally aired.
Moe's son-in-law, Norman Maurer hates the Fridays parody version of them. He probably thinks they're more in vain of The Three Stooges than a modern tribute and dedication to them. I don't think it was supposed to be in vain of The Three Stooges. Besides, the Three Stooges themselves have been smoking and drinking alcohol in their shorts.
Interesting, mildly funny but not much else other than novelty value. Beware of Comedy III (The copyright holders of The Three Stooges). They'll sue you before you can say Ticonderoga. If you can say Ticonderoga.
Also, I think that character was named after the actor, Vernon Dent who often played as the Stooges' nemesis in the Three Stooges shorts with Columbia Pictures.
Yeah, Urkle was great alright! Those funny glasses and that voice! But what's HE got to do with......Oh ! You said 'ORACLE'- not 'Urkle'-Sorry I'm stoned!
George Costanza: "Elaine, let me explain something to you. Nobody walks into a barber shop and says "Give me the Larry Fine!""

One of the best Curly impressions ever!
John Roarke ranks high with other great impressionist such as George Kirby, Eddie Murphy, Frank Gorshin and Rich Little.
First time I saw this! Love it! I'm a BIG Stooge fan. The guy doin Curly sounds just like him.
I miss Shemp. In fact, there should have been a Shemp on that show.

same bro.
That's from "Fridays!" I seem to recall them doing that routine a few times. Larry "Curb Your Enthusiasm/Seinfeld" David as Larry Fine!

You are a 'Stooges' scholar, indeed. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk, Prof! 🙂
I just think it's cool that Larry David got to play Larry, because that's what his hair actually looked like in the early eighties.
This is all full circle! He actually plays in the Three Stooges movie in 2012 as Sister Mary-Mengele
I didn't know that was him! Lol.
now go get the bong!!! lmao this is perfect!!
Thanks for posting, it's been AGES !
WoW 30 years !!!
more then 40 now! Time flies!
I just wish someone had "On Golden Pond" with the Three Stooges on Fridays. It was a blast.
Larry David is playing Sister Mary-Mengele in the upcoming Three Stooges 2012. (Funniest Sister Name ever.)

Lol at 1:35 the sound effect didn’t go off and all you heard was Moe actually hitting Larry’s skull
Funny as hell, laughed my ass off
'Larry' is Larry David and 'Moe' is the guy who played the rabbi on Seinfeld.
whoa
Fun fact: Larry was also the voice of George Steinbrenner on "Seinfeld".
I saw this the night it aired, have not seen it since.
Have never stopped quoting it the whole time.
Oboy, Peruvian blow !!!
nyuknyuknyuk
At least this is better than the 2012 movie.
I love the ‘memememememe’ snoring!
Shemp would do it a lot. That was his personality.
How did they get through this skit without cracking up?
They almost didn't 4:14
Check it out, that's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" Larry David as Larry!
Three Stooges are funny with Moe Larry and Curly
Yeeeeeaaaahhh
3 Little stoners or Bong to be Wild.
Larry David as Larry Fine is histyrical
That painting of Jason Mamoa in the background tho...
OMG !!! This was great stuff !!!
This was a very funny show back in the day. Where have all the years gone.
I know Fridays was a bit of a fly-by-night venture, unintetionally, but this needed a bit more work, and more love for the Stooges.
This is funny as Hell!!
Haha, these guys were spot-on!

Vernon is a great actor. Who played “Jekyll and Hyde together again”.
Moe & Larry are great, dead on: Moe is David Birney tryin' to be.

Bruce Mahler. Did a Seinfeld episode once. And as we all know, Larry David and Michael Richards we're a huge part of that
@@MrGreg830 Bruce Mahler did a few episodes of Seinfeld, the Rabbi was a recurring character.
Who would be dumb enough to front the 3 Stooges a pound of weed? lol

Oops; meant Larry & Curly.
Funny how this becomes a place for weed arguments. Just enjoy the spoof.
Larry was played by Larry David.
Aside from the controversial content of the script, those guys did a great job!

I thought it was going to make me laugh. It didn't. I did like seeing Larry David from the past though.
Nice, good to see them smoke some.

I agree, the Curly especially! Curly did act dumb, but he was at least funny.
spread out!!!!
It strikes me as very funny that so many of the "tough-guy" bald headed wannabes today look just as rediculous as Curly in this vid.
Lol A funny parody
for the record, i hate anything dealing with drugs and secondly i like anything three stooges sir.
Isn't the whole idea of a parody, to do things the originals wouldn't do? I think it's lame of Moe's estate to block this
