In this video, I talk about these Leatt Knee and Shin Guards. I really love these things and don’t like to ride without them anymore. I got these on Amazon, but you can find them other places as well. They are about $99 USD at the time of this video. They offer great protection for the knees and shins. Keep in mind that these are not knee braces. I will be doing a video of a pair of knee braces soon.

I've been running these (along with matching elbow pads) for the last year. I've tried MANY different brands in the past 12 years that I have been riding/racing and these are by far the best I have used to date. I like them because they stay in place, offer good protection, and aren't bulky at all. I highly recommend them.

I ordered this model and sent them back to RMATV. I felt like they didn't have enough impact protection. I tested them by dropping on to my knees with them on and seemed to feel the impact more then I would like. My 2 cents.

I used those all the time when I was riding my quad Raptor 700.
When I bought my first dirt bike I crashed with them on hard pack with little rocks and they did protect my knees but the side protection is not that good, I had pain in the side of the knee for 1 month...then I bought POD K4 knee braces and they're awesome!
If you want good (but not best) protection and 100% comfort these are for you! once they're on - you forget about them.

I have the enduro version. Shin guard section is a little shorter. Have had them for 3 years. Love them! Occasionally they do chafe you on the back of the knee on long rides.

I have these knee guards for two years. They are very comfortable even if I wear them all day. It fits under a pair of slim jeans too( I ride a naked bike)
I have had a crash when a car pulled over me, it hit my right knee and shin...if I wasn’t wear protection on my leg, it would probably broke! So I can highly recommend this really good product!

I ride with the Leatt knee pads and elbow pads, the knee pad saved my arse last year on a pretty hard fall, I would also recommend these :)

I'd strongly consider a set of knee braces over these, i run the pod brand with the fox moto socks. I use them for many different sports at this point. These are a candle in the sun when compared to a basic knee braces level of protection.

Thanks for the review. I personally use mtn bike armor. That industry has been in the game a lot longer and has many choices. It’s only been recently the Moto world has embraced armor. I use POC as a knee protection.

I use Leatt knee and shin guards also.. Might be a different model.. Been using them for a about 3 years and love them. My only complaint is the velcro is starting to lose its strength and wear out... great review!!

I`d be afraid to ride, especially race without knee braces. The body is not flexible after 30+yo and it takes only one crash to destroy the knee beyond repair.
Within the braces - Mobius X8 is the best fit (those who had custom made CTIs also confirm Mobius X8 fits better). However they are way too hot and I havent tested them in the summer yet - wonder how bearable it will be.

Yes TLD pants and shorts seem to run on the small side as to where the TLD jerseys run on the large side. So strange the way they do that. I worked for a online bicycle retailer that sold TLD moto pants. The amount of Moto pants we had returned because they were too small was unbelievable. After awhile the company I worked for added a disclaimer that recommended people to buy a size or two larger than they normally would.

30% higher in price now. Everything going up when the markets are sabotaged, except your pay check. I don't know when the total collapse will happen, but I hope to get in a couple good summers of riding in before that.

They look like I will get a good feel for the bike at the seat and tank with the inside of my knee, and not get sore. A set of Fox knee guards I have feels like a thick plastic sensory repelling barrier between me and the bike, and that I don't like. :)

My knees are shot after 40 years of riding . I use cti knee braces they are the best on the market . With out them i would have to stop riding . If yours are uncomfortable they are not fitting properly. Get some cti s . Expensive yes but what price being able too walk and ride.

I was considering these but I would like to have the option of wearing over my pants for dual sport/supermoto days where I just want to throw them over my jeans. Seems like these are limited to off-road only where you're usually committed to your gear for a few hours. Taking my shoes off to slide the sleave design on would reduce my desire to wear them for short errands, etc. Think I'll go with the alpinestars sx-1.... Thanks for review! By the way Wal-Mart was out of long John's this winter so I grabbed those same thermal leggings haha. Good for winter tennis matches, etc.

Its funny that you uploaded this today, because I was just shopping last night for knee braces/knee guards. Ended up with POD K4, and Leatt C Frame, trying to decide between the two. I broke my hip and injured my knee last June when I whiskey throttled into a tree after casing a jump, and before I get back on the bike I wanted to buy a knee brace to help prevent any further injury to my knee. (Reason why I havent got back to riding yet is #1 my bike was destroyed so ive been slowly rebuilding it and #2 it was winter lol)

    • @jasonlawrence7283
      @jasonlawrence7283 6 років тому

Matt D yea I looked at the X Frame also, they seem to be really good too. One thing to note about the K4's though is that they're a multi-sport brace. So if you need it, you can detach the guards and use it for other sports as a regular brace.

What things should i consider when choosing which is best for what I will be doing. I'll just be riding a lot of flat ground and learning jumps starting small, and ride around 2 or 3 times a week. Thanks new subscriber looking for help

It is better than anything we had in the 80's and early 90's. This guy, (who is a bit of a baby sitter IMO), will say you need a exoskeleton aground your body for MX, and the speeds are faster today, (thanks to the 4-stroke engine), but I am pretty sure I will crash less if I can feel the damn bike, (especially the foot controls). I don't do MX anymore now though, just aggressive whooped out trail riding, and want something over my knee, and into my boot, (and this one will fit in my boot nicely).
I would use them for MX. With my lighter TCX Baja boots, I will feel the bike very well again, (tank, seat, shifter, brake), and I will crash less I am sure.

I currently have the Leatt Dual Axis Knee and Shin guard, but they are a little bulky and seem to restrict a little movement when I have my ridding pants on. I was thinking of going with the 3DF Hybrid EXT as they seem a little less bulky and seem to have a little more movement. Not sure if you have tried the Dual Axis. BTW, where are you in the beginning of the video?
