This channel exists to document unit counters within StarCraft 2. Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen from Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a coop commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units will independently use their abilities, in a basic way. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 esports controlled by the likes of Serral, Maru, and ByuN. The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy!
By popular request, the Hyperion attack speed bug was baked into the unit. It doesn't strafe though. Should it?
What’s that bug even? I have no idea.
@@estellebright2579 The Hyperion is noted for doing almost triple the damage when it is moving. That's why in Raynor co-op guides, they stress the importance of keeping the Hyperion in motion once called down.
Previously, the shots that the Hyperion makes made it immune to certain mutators like Fatal Attraction or Moment of Silence, but this is no longer the case.
@Tya You are missing the Broodling Gestation upgrade in its dialog box.
@@estellebright2579 Hyperion attacks several different targets when moving for the same DPS against each target effectively tripling its damage output when moving but not letting you focus fire as effectively.
The fact that it still whooped some ass while stationary is great.

@@jar3dl339793 Its from continuous clicking on units. Its a blizzard thing that if you click long enough on units, they say different dialogue. It even happens in Heroes of the Storm.

To be fair, the Hyperion was still brought down pretty low. And that wasn't even the entire Golden Armada - there were no motherships or void rays. :p

This is why back in StarCraft one when Tassadar gave himself up to the conclave even Zeratul was out of options but Jimmy was just like:
"Wait a second. I've got a battle cruiser! The law doesn't apply to me!"
And everything got sorted out real quick after that.
True but the Hyperion was an actual unit back then, and it was nowhere near what it is now.
@@Eonflare55 it was a massive flag ship and got upgrades over time from swan so the hyperion is likely still a powerful ship.
@@alfianna2578 they mean in-game. The Hyperion was powerful, but it was nowhere as ridiculous as it is in Starcraft 2.

Man Vanguards are just sick. Dragoons are no pushover but they smashed them so hard. This is why game balance is important xD Lorewise, the Hyperion would have struggled for its life against one Carrier.
lore wise how powerful is the Hyperion compared to modern battlecruisers? I know she's an old ship from past wars but Swann has been keeping her in good shape
@@ham_the_spam4423 The Hyperion and other battlecruisers(Behemoth-class) from the old era are much bigger than the ones employed in SC2(Minotaur-class). So at the very least, the Hyperion would stand a much better chance against the protoss than the modern ones.
The Hyperion itself was also a flagship that belonged to Arcturus Mengsk before Raynor managed to steal it from the Dylarian Shipyards some time between Episode I and Episode II, so it was probably a bit more powerful than other Battlecruisers of the era. She has been retrofitted and upgraded over the years and seems to still be in good shape even 10 years later.
Lore-wise, Carriers had a planet cracker that fired through their bow. Given it's designed to pierce the crust of planets, it would have vaporized a Battlecruiser. One logical reason why it can't be used in tactical battles is that it is a long-range weapon that cannot be easily steered and takes a while to charge up... think of a cannon during the Napoleonic wars. At long range, it decimated armies, but once the distance was closed, they became far less effective, and then completely useless once the enemy was point blank (so long as you don't stand right in front of the muzzle!)
@@ThisIsntAUA-camr Size may not be a good indicator of power though. This is not a particularly good example but the Yamato from WWII was a HUGE warship but it would probably lose to a modern frigate or cruiser that is much smaller.
@@WaterCrane Yea this can make sense since the planet cracker is designed to neutralize very large stationary bodies. If it takes too long to charge, the BC can steer away. Still though, a lore accurate Carrier would certainly have more than 8 interceptors, each of which can easily down multiple Vikings and Wraiths. It would also have on-board weapons as well. The Protoss ships are just ridiculously powerful in the lore haha.

It should be noted that the literal only units in that entire protoss fleet that were doing more than 1 damage per attack were the tempests, because the Hyperion's base armor makes pheonixes and carriers useless against it.

There are a few Coop units I've still yet to see, one of them being Vorazun DTs and Karax's Fire Collosi
There still a lot co op unit left zagara, Kerrigan(only her wol version was use), Mengsk (only 2 units was use), Tychus crews, Stetman Gary, stukov (only 3 units was use), Fenix (2 Fenix form and Kaldalix was use ), Vorazun( I believe the only unit use was void ray ), Karax units haven’t been use in any battle

I don't think I've seen her Stalkers either. I actually worry those would be unbeatable in this kind of fight by anything that can't one-shot them.

Tal'darim are strong! And I never expected zealots to be so mighty against Nova's elite corps.
They only have 150 HP so if they don't dodge the AoE attack it's gg.
To be fair, this is pretty much what Aiur zealots are built for - taking out large amounts of lighter units. That said, Nova's units are tougher than the standard, so...
They are just human.
Nova's marines wasted the healing on their first stim (Assuming I'm remembering correctly that the Nova campaign stimpack was a heal+steroid instead of a self-damage+steroid).
At long last something smashed apocalisk. The next one is Dehaka.
I think it'd be pretty cool to see different campaign versions of units (like the zerg evo paths, protoss unit choices) go up against each other

3/5. I expected the firepower of the Golden Armada to overwhelm Hyperion. Vanguards vs Dragoon went exactly as expected - the vanguards opened up and roughly 30 Dragoons died. Rinse and repeat. Artanis' zealots are really durable so I expected them to win that. Thought the Hellbats anti-light would win that fight - and then the surprise broodlings popped up.

Tya, you have to use the cutscene Hyperion in Wings of liberty, zero hour. Probably the most powerful unit in the game.

In reality the high tech would always piss on the old ships. There is no way to have 10000 years more advanced warfare technology and still be "close enough". Like a club vs an assault rifle, which is better?
@@Leonhart_93 Pretty much true. But also in reality, I think, every race (not even sc2 ones) appeared at the different time, had different way of evolution and technologies. So yeah, ancient machine (super godly club) could be stronger than first assault rifles. Its all about lore and timeline of this universe, nothing else.
If sc2 was hyper-realistic - Tosses would oneshot everything on their way I guess and Zergs were nothing more than animals for a zoo. Oh wait... That's what actually happening on ladder kekw

Stukov's infested can jump too and would have surrounded them anyway so the hellbat jump's stun and temporary +4 armour actually helped in this case
