    This channel exists to document unit counters within StarCraft 2. Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen from Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a coop commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units will independently use their abilities, in a basic way. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 esports controlled by the likes of Serral, Maru, and ByuN. The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy!

      I feel like the self damage from stimpack did more damage to the Marauders than the Adepts did.

      @@joshuakim5240 It's worth it; sure, the adepts don't do much damage, but neither do the marauders. Stim helps a lot to have decent dps against unarmored.

    The Marauder vs Zealot fight shows the importance of micro. The Zealots would have gotten roflstomped if the Marauders kited with their Concussive Shells. That being said, no amount of Marauder kiting can handle the manliness of Immortals :D

      same to say if stalkers dance around, hit and run and DT is for sneak atk, not for frontal combat. we are judging the fish by climbing trees

      Not really, I think their Win/loss ratio in the Episodes IS less than 50%.

      @@bernardoheusi6146 It mostly depends on Tya's mind. Whe choose numbers and he don't bind em to anything. Not to their cost nor to limit. So basically he decides who wins.
      And speaking of archons yeah they actually counter every bio unit in big count so their extra damage vs bio and their splash fully works.
      Guess only ghosts from Terrans is their biological counter unit

      In this video that's certainly true. 360 EHP and no attack bonus weaknesses is a big deal,. Basically they can just dawdle around and take hits all day. In this scenario, the Marauders needed 648 total shots to defeat them!

    Mauraders do well against most Gateway units. Yes mass Zealots can counter them but not really with Marine support.

    I do wonder how Tya chooses the numbers. Like the HT matchup in particular seemed hilariously unbalanced and I'm not sure why there were so few of them?

      They all went into the Archon round, where their cost and numbers were much higher.

      I've always assumed that for most matchups (excluding the ones that include Dehaka), Tya puts in varying amounts of units until the "closest" matchup is found. As Spirit of the Law has pointed out in his videos, 1 extra unit on one side can cause a cascading effect that greatly changes the outcome. The HT matchup, for example, did you see how much damage the psy storms were doing to the marauders. One extra HT very well could have been enough for them to win

      Sometimes just adding a single extra unit to the other side makes it even more hilariously unbalanced. It's tough at times. Glass cannon units like HTs are really "all or nothing" when it comes to surviving.
      It's also the reason why I rarely use widow mines or disruptors. They're even more problematic in that department, because they either win in their opening volley, or slowly spend 40 sec being picked apart by the survivors.

      @@kostadinpantev What Tya meant is that units if spammed they can wreck almost anything but if you use only a few they have no chances. It makes the unit completely unbalanced and rarely usable a fair matchup.

      no concentration of force for the marauders. the first line gets in range and fires, blocking the second.

      Vikings are the only real counter to Colossi massed in such numbers.

      @@norberthiz9318 it's 90 supply vs 100 supply, and about equal resources. I'm not sure what micro could win, since Colossi can kill Marauders with stutter step as much as Marauders can kill them.

      @@rozmarinideas5340 90 supply of tier 3 robo unit vs 100 supply of basic infantry. What micro? You seriously have no idea how Terran units can be microd? Stutter stepping and focus fire easily would have won the fight. The colossi can't kite since they are waaay slower.

    I swear Marauders are the bane of the Protoss. This should be reflected in game-lore, they seethe at how many of their legions were lost to these primitive yet effective Marauders.

      Indeed, gameplay wise they rock, but lorewise, a single Stalkers shots should kill a Marauder, not to mention a Marine, or Zergling

      Well that's what happens when your mobile ranged strider unit is a stilt-legged walker with a stupid turtle-head poking out the front, and crap damage output with its pansy laser. The Protoss devolved, while the Terrans adapted and improvised.

    This one really shows that the AI is messed up for adepts. If it's going to try to use shade for escape, they need to cast on the first hit, or they need to shade directly into the fight. Where it's at right now is just a sarcastic use of that infinite micro.

      Aegis Guards do perfectly vs every ground unit. They're incredibly strong. And if their target is armored they become super mega overpowered unit.

    Zealots vs marauders just blown my mind... How is it even possible... mayby my terran hit&run theme is just on "autocast", idk :D
    Also colossus vs marauders ended poorly for me - lack of focusfire was fatal... Yet, I assume it was still closer than it might've ended

      I agree and while they did a lot of damage with the storms, the meaning of the videi is that the cost effectiveness is insane. That's why GiantGrantGames used cannons and and HT in the Protoss Last Stand in WOL. Their storm power is insane to *anything* so long as they can fire it off once or twice. If it was 50v50 , it would be insane how many storms would go off.

    Wait... The transition between shields and Life
    Is It Just like if i have 100 hp and 1 shield then i take 2 damage i end up with 99
    Or the shield absorbs the 2 beacause Life can't go down with a single hit cause technically the shield Is Active untill It reaches 0

    Zealots win, but only because no kite.
    Stalkers has no chance, they armored.
    Bet against adepts. They both tickle each other, but Maruders more tanky.
    Bet against DT. Their strength lies in the cloak, which is not present here.
    I guess Maruders can survive the storm, which is not stack, after that they will be massacre the HTs.
    I guess Archons will win, beating the win streak.
    Winmortals, no doubt, the Maruders are armored.
    Well the last one is tricky. Not really sure. Maybe the Maruders have this, but not sure... Well they did not handled it. It was close though.

    Maradeur is only one good and more or less ballansed terran unit in SC2. Other units are weak against opponents and expensive.

    Marauders are at a significant disadvantage because the shield upgrades make the protoss units very valuable. Easily 1000/1000 more resource spent on upgrades for protoss.

      But Marauder still trade better resources wise than almost anything. Only Zealot, Immortal and HT are more efficient but zealot is easily kiteable and immortal is only a little bit more efficient.
