This channel exists to document unit counters within StarCraft 2. Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen from Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a coop commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units will independently use their abilities, in a basic way. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 esports controlled by the likes of Serral, Maru, and ByuN. The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy!

Because destruction wave has very long cd in Direct Strike, but every time he consumes a suplicant, that cd is reduced by a lot. Now consuming a suplincat happens only when he receive a fatal hit. He also regenerates hp when an enemy dies.
So if he does not get low hp=no consuming suplicant=no destruction wave...

Really surprised how strong aegis guards are. But I've never made more than 5 at a time to see how strong a mass are.
They also have the high-grade stimpacks upgrade in the ghost academy to get double attack speed for a while. Not usually worth getting if you're not making ghosts/emperor's shadows but still a powerful upgrade.

Level one: 400hp shield
Level two: Attacks deal 20% in a cone behind their target
Level three: Stimpack which increases attack speed by 200%
If the 300 stalkers simply blinked on top it would be gg from start.
They are by far the best of the royal units specifically for their cost and supply. They are very thicc as well, especially when buffed by a blackhammer or healed by the medivac.
Legit the only downside is their inability to hit air.

What the actual hell? Devourers in sc2 are op af. That's ridiculous damage. Also, that love shot between the Pride of Augustgrad and the Mothership was awesome 👌

Just imagine Abathur's devourers at 100 biomass: they demolish air and are unkillable.
And with Abathur P1 they are even scarier.
the other big part of their destruction was that they have splash damage which vs air in this type of fight is devastating because everything bunches up
I once read a guide to each unit of Mengsk's Royal Guard units, which went in order from most niche to most general. Aegis Guard were last, and the guide said "I described a lot of royal guard units like the Shock Division as force mulitipliers; Aegis Guards are the force."
Imagine if it can shoot air.
You look at them and see "Oh, a Marauder, I bet it has good damage vs armor, but falls off late game". Then you see at max level they deal 150+ damage per second, they deal 20% of that damage in an AOE cone which also slows once upgraded, have a temporary 200% attack speed boost ability, and also get 300 HP shields that stuns around them when it breaks.
Seriously, this channel always shows off how Immortals ALWAYS win in fights, but if Aegis Guards were to show up more often, they'd real quickly show off who's ACTUALLY the king of ground to ground combat.

Its not far off. But they are generally worse than Emperors Shadow and ShockDivisions.
Absurd as hell in some matchups.
Between hunting that lone stalker in the middle and attacking the full health one at the end, Alarak seemed like he wanted to lose.
I feel like he's not making full use of Destruction Wave though people here have said that it has longer cooldown in Direct Strike. Also he got separated from his Supplicants and left them to die instead of tanking for them and consuming them.

It looked like he refused to use it when his allies were within a certain cone of degrees. That's my conjecture.
I assume that there weren't enough units close together for the AI's destruction wave conditions to meet. He eventually started using it again because of the zealots but the stalkers were spread out too far to meet the threshold.
The AI needs conditions to be met for it to use abilities
Those devourers didn't work like they do in BW :(

I didnt expect Taldarim MTS and PoA BC are on the same par strength
The Tal’darim mothership was only using 1/4 of it attack it has 6 attack but needed to get closer in order to use them
The PoA could have use both it yamato charges in quick succession dealing 1800 damage that 3/4 of the mothership health
Pride is stronger, Because his Yamatos have splash of 2 tile radius and they are blastin enemy waves in 2 charges

I did not expect devourers in Starcraft 2 to be THAT strong wtf.
The default ones aren't. But everything in coop has to be on roids, losing is a special event there.
When you see air zerg with devourers, you know to avoid building air.
Day 1 of asking you to put Alaraks mothership with 200 supply of destroyers against something (just as Alarak p3)

At last Mengsk! Arcturus' units definitely deserve love though he's a power-hungry nuke-obsessed maniac. And this battle between Pride of Augustgrad and Tal'darim Mothership was epic as Horus Heresy. It's good that enemy Terrans don't have such powerful battlecruisers.
There should be a video on Royal Guards vs their campaign counterparts. It will be one-sided, but entertaining.

Mengsk Stats, since this is his first showing:
Mengsk's "Royal Guard" units gain experience level up as enemy units die near to them. As they level up, they gain increased armour (+1 per level) increased damage (+25% per level) and increased hp (+25% per level). Additionally, the units gain a buff with each level up. All Royal Guard units can level up 3 times.
Aegis Guards are Royal Guard Marauders. At level 1, they gain the Aegis Barrier ability, which works a bit like the Immortal's Barrier, it absorbs up to 300 damage and is always active, refreshing every 60 seconds. If depleted, it explodes, knocking back nearby ground units, which can be useful to get melee units off the Aegis Guard. At level 2, their attacks start dealing 25% splash damage to enemies in a cone behind their primary target, making them effective against tightly packed groups. At level 3, they gain the Enhanced Stimpack ability, an autocast ability that triples their attack speed for 15 seconds after activation. Aegis Guards can also be upgraded to have Suppression Shells, making their attacks slow enemies in an area around their primary target.
Prides of Augustgrad are Mengsk's Battlecruisers, and a contender for strongest coop unit. They have 1600 hp at max level along with 6 armour, and they do about 80 dps against ground and air. At level 1, they gain the ability to hold 2 charges of Yamato Cannon and Tactical jump, as well as refilling those charges on that level up. At level 2, Yamato cannon deals damage in an aoe about the size of a psi storm, so a 300 damage insta storm. At level 3, Yamato Cannon fires 3 shots in quick succession, dealing 900 damage in a massive area and targeting new enemies if the primary target is destroyed. Intensly powerful units all around, but very expensive and quite supply heavy.
Royal Guard HP and Damage increased by 25% of its basic stats per Rank level.

3 PoA can kill multiple motherships stacked with a single volley of yamatos.
Its so OP that many players loose trying to build one on Direct Strike, because they are expensive as F.

Alarak did good, it's AI that screwed it. Basically, 1:50 when Alarak attacked two Stalkers instead of going for the group. It was painful to watch LOL.
Devourers look so powerful, they endured Yamato shots and annihilated all those battlecruizers. Why Abathur's Devourers in Direct Strike Commanders are so terribly weak in comparison?
Cheap flying AoE unit with close range and little to no hp, yet still with a massive tag.
One thing I've noticed is all the Starcraft 1 units that are in Starcraft 2 have *significantly* worse voice acting in Starcraft 2. All the deliveries in Starcraft 1 are a little hammy, sure, but the SC2 ones just sound like they're bored and reading directly off of a piece of paper as if they saw it for the first time.
Maybe it's just me but I find stalker match ups extraordinarily boring. Their blinking drags the vs on for too long, imo.

They have 300 shield that recharged to full every 60 second and a stimpack that give them 200% attack speed with no health damage
And last an aoe attack that deal 30% to anything behind the target in a cone for good measure

@@hungcuong606 And don't forget they deal 70 damage vs armored units with a 1.5 second attack speed. With the attack speed buff up, that's nearly 150 damage per guard, per second, and without even counting the AOE damage. Add in the attack speed buff from Mengsk's blimps, and you've reached the objectively highest non ability DPS in Coop.
No wonder it took the full swarm AND Raynor's raiders working together to take down Mengsk in HoTS if these are the basic ground troops of Mengsk's personal guard...
Aegis Guard is my favorite unit in the game. Chonkiest of the chonks

1 - I play Mengsk a lot in co-op. Aegis Guards are one of the most absurd anti-armour units in game.
2 - a draw, you don;t see that very often in SC2. I wonder how Soverin BC with it's mini yamato canon would do in same scenario
3 - Goddamit Alarak's AI is trash :D

5 - Abathur wins ofc. Splash in AA atacks is so usefull becouse air units almost always pile up. Fully biomassed devoures with maxed out Abathur are practicaly invincible.

Every time I see devourers in an air battle, I feel sorry for the other side.
Went 4/5. Cheapest army wins almost every time. The Alarak vs. Stalkers & Zealots was a surprise.
Nothing beats reavers. The single strongest starcaft unit in sc1 and sc2
Are those Devourers from Abathur, or NPCs? Either way, I thought they’re supportive air units, not ones that go toe-to-toe with BC after eating Yamatos.
Should be abathur's, they deal splash damage (an upgrade), and also the weird goop that reduces armor. They also deal some bonus damage vs armored. Honestly the way devourers are noe, they are anything but a supporting unit.
That was insane. There were equal numbers of BCs to Devourers and all the BCs firing their Yamatos should have killed at least 30+

Devourers have 250 hp, yamato does 240, so most of the devourers were left at 10 hp, but the battlecruisers attacked mostly the full hp ones, letting the 10 hp devourers hit very hard. (39 vs armored, i think full splash, also the acid is aoe debuff -3 armor -12.5% attack speed, up to 3 stacks)

So much of the later changes to the Terran BCs feels inspired by Halo Lore. The precise jumps reminds me of the covenant, the triple Yamato reminds me of the Pillar of Autumn’s special MAC cannon. Idk, I just think it’s neat
ok. Just, Halo didn't invent jumps. Neither did they invent yamato canon like weapons.

dude i was like 1/5 all time low. this game. I assumed blink stalkers 300 of them can get a nice surround and beat a measly 20 beefy elite maruaders. Beliefed the tal darim mother ship was just gonna do boss things, believed alarak wasnt gonna be autistic as fuck, believed bcs were gonna tear down devourers even tho devourers r anti air and strong cuz bcs have the yamamoto and way more hp and it was a 1 to 1 ratio.
Devourers do splash damage, so they shred everything when massed. (Though also die to mass viking, sky furies, and maybe some other burst splash damage)

unless all the bcs stack on top of each other which doesnt happen its just an a move fast with a minor spread
@@jujucasar2003 if they are deimos vikings, 60 are plenty, even 30 might be enough. For normal vikings, i honestly don't know if 60 is enough, but maybe? Viking splash damage is no joke. There might need to be some more because they'd get one-shot by yamato.
Either way, biking is long range 2x17 vs armored, devourer is short range and does 39 vs armored, bigger splash radius and full splash damage
