Would've passed on this if it wasn't for my love of Chip Zdarsky's run of Daredevil. I feel like Hasbro simply nailed the head sculpt and called it a day.
IMO the 'armored' DD that came from the Spider-Man retro wave is still the best Marvel Legends DD figure thus far. The DD from the 3-pack with Bullseye and Elektra is a close second.
"They aren't worth owning" - this is the realization I came to about 6 months ago. I'd rather put other stuff on the shelf space I have that most of the new stuff coming out and if they're just going to continue to produce garbage, then I have no point in keeping some of the unfinished teams I have.
There's too many companies making all kinds of better stuff to spend money on rather than Marvel legends if they're just going to continue being lazy and cheap.
While I don't disagree with your criticisms, I still think it's a solid figure that's worth owning, especially when you consider the source material that it's pulled from.
"made with crayons...then painted with melted crayons!" oh ahaha (spills coffee)!!! Hasbro ML comic book based action figures are overall a hot mess. Take a gander at the MAFEX Daredevil when you get a chance. From the images I have seen on Big Bad, I can state with a degree of certainty that no crayons were harmed manufacturing THAT Daredevil.
now if we could get a MAFEX Bullseye I would be the happiest collector in the world. And I LOVE my Man-Thing BAF wave Bullseye already... need them to make up for what they did to the Squadron Supreme figures....
Those knees look almost as bad as the ones on the Halo figs. This figure really "Kneeds" some help. Probably didnt get fist hands, because they would have had to sculpt them and you know that would have shot the price up another $5.
12:56 That weird additional elbow space could have been removed, then the elbow joint would be higher up, which would make the red wraps have no black joint on them. Also, I'm pretty sure there's a Rival Clans figure with near identical pants design, yet it has way better range in every direction, hmm...
I’ve had this figure replaced because I had a paint defect with the red appearing on the lips and even the replacement had a problem with paint on the lips too
Well, GI Joe is actually Hasbro’s baby while Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black series are step kids…. 😂😂😂. There is probably less love and control. Shame.
@@brianng8350 I get you, but there’s no reason why they can’t go the extra mile. Even the POWER RANGERS as mishandled as they were by Hasbro, they were more articulated and always came with more accessories than that of a Hasbro Marvel. They don’t own Power Rangers. Look at NECA. They don’t own any of the properties, just use the licenses and they go above and beyond. Mattel don’t own Jurassic Park or WWE. Yet they produce quality figures. Marvel doesn’t tell them to reuse 75% of the moulds. That’s a Hasbro corporate thing.
It has nothing to do with the teams, Dan Dwight and Ryan are only showing the figures and deciding what characters they do with what hasbro gives them. It’s the company to blame for the laziness of some figures
Q of the Day: I haven’t read the books, so I’m completely ambivalent to this look. It’s great for fans of this particular Daredevil run, but from what I can tell, most of the customer base doesn’t really keep up with contemporary comics. So Hasbro’s decision to put so much of the budget into this figure and give Luke Cage an overlay with holes around the arms big enough for mice to climb through is a little baffling. A newly sculpted torso would have solved most of the problems with that figure. The idea that they dedicated so much of the budget to a story arc specific Daredevil and still didn’t get it right just adds insult to injury. At least before the common belief was that they just didn’t want to spend the money. Now we have to question if the problems go much deeper than that.
Ever since they teased this fig, this has an unfinished look to it. Very weird, cause the design of this DD is very awesome but the figure is just weird. wished they had used the legs from Fist Ninja, the knees looks horrendous on this😮💨
i was so happy to hear you point out the lack of black for the fingers hallelujah!!!!! i had to do a swap with my DD black and red that did have the black for the fingers but they could’ve at least given us GD fists I love DD but Hasbro keeps doing him bad
The sculpt for this great costume is fantastic, but the articulation is… r o u g h. My shelf has two Daredevils already, but I’m curious to see what (if anything) MAFEX or Figuarts does with this design. Pass on the Hasbro version for me
I like this look, this and the Darelektra look are really striking while still being obviously Daredevil. Not sure if it's the lights or something, but man the details on the mask are lost. Could've used a wash and/or painted eyes, especially with how Marco Checchetto's Daredevil tends to look.
Was really looking forward to this wave😡I am convinced all of Hasbro's efforts go into the GI Joe classified line and everything else is phoned in. All they had to do is pretty much follow the Daredevil Elektra design and this woulda been perfect
Another crap churned out by Hasbro. I wonder at this rate hasbro Marvel Legends are putting out crap after crap at premium prices, I wouldn't be surprised if the line cease to exist eventually.
I'm not interested in this design for Daredevil, but the comic art looks cool. But the Marvel Legends representation of this design looks like garbage. Also, I can't comprehend why Hasbro's knees and elbows have been getting worse. During this review, I took a look at my ToyBiz Daredevil (Scarlet Spider custom now) and he has 180° elbow and knees joints and they look relatively clean. Same with Sinister Six and McFarlane Spidey, among many others. But Hasbro can't seem to do it anymore
Hasbro making it super easy for me to save money. I have super limited interest in any designs after 2010, they really have to be standout figures and this isn't even close. He looks like a hobo.
Those have to be the most mediocre looking knee joints I've ever seen, it makes the figure look broken. Such a shame too because the Elektra looked great
I was digging this look for Daredevil but after the review the little details really piled up. No fists and wrong hinge for weapon holding hands at this point in time feels insulting. Bad paint (face) could be fixed if I paint it I guess but I'm tired of that excuse when their prices are so high for what they offer. I don't have a particular attachment to this design for the character but I would've gladly add it to my collection if it was great.. but sadly it isn't. Might give it a try if I find a really great deal, but I'm done getting Legends at full prize.
Bobby Vala, the CEO of Action Force, used to work at Hasbro, and he's repeatedly said Dwight doesn't understand proportions. He said Dwight usually was responsible for arms too long, super wide hips, lower shoulders and tiny chests, big heads. I don't know about Ryan and Dan, but they're relatively newer ML designers (compared to Dwight), so they might also be bad at making figures. As a reference though, Bobby was responsible for making the Venompool BAF, along with Venom and Carnage from that wave.
I really do wonder if the sculptors are lazy or they work overtime/overburdened with projects to the point where they don't care to make each figure better, like the tweaks you mention
What's even more sad is that they already have sculpted fist hands that would fit this guy. They came with the black suit DD that had wrapped hands. They literally have the mold's made already. Also how do they release a limited articulation DD after they produce the boxset version. They constantly go backwards when they release products. It's pure laziness
Got this guy in the mail last week…while it looks good standing on the shelf, the sculpt work and weird articulation cuts left a terrible taste in my mouth.
I was going to get this cause of Chip Zdarsky's run. But those knees are a huge turn-off. But as I said. it feels like the only figures they put effort into were females...........and Longshot. I'm still dying to see you do Black Widow. My only issue with the figure was people tried to say she was like a Mafex. Mafex she is not. And they have reviewed Mafex. Yeah well for a legend I will say her articulation is pretty good. I mean if you sit there and play with the Jada Chung Li, then Black Widow's articulation isn't that impressive. But then you remember it's a Marvel legend, so for a Marvel legend, it is good.
Gosh, Hasbro...B+ for effort. Otherwise, It is truly an F. Why does this always happen...Half Good, Half Bad, Mediocre designs standing in the way of success!!! Legs are bad, but, well proportioned (2 steps back, 1 step forward!!!) Ab crunch, neck, Sad, No fists, Really!!! More Cons than Pros. The Armored Daredevil still kicks AZZ!!! Thanks for another informative and eye-opening Review!!! Peace!!!
I bought this figure because of my love for DD and because I already have the woman without fear. I still like the figure but goddamn they messed up so bad.
I think it's a good looking figure (when not zoomed in) but the knee joints are crazy ugly. I won't have him posed as dynamic as my other one in his more classic costume.
First glance from a far, looks pretty good. But just the beard looks horrible, hes too thin, and he needed fisted hands. The bended knees and bended elbows look horrible. Head won't turn up. I prefer the more classic version of Daredevil
In my Opinion, Anthony, Brother, this is a Solid Deuce Floating in the toilet, out of (2/10) Ten. Man, that really is an ugly poorly made figure. It's as they didn't get any test figure. It's like you said, they made the digital render, sent the info to the manufacturer and pat themselves on the back shoving out mediocre crap. These dudes don't care. You care more than they do. Buying them just to laugh at them. I think you have to someday come to the conclusion to stop reviewing this like. I'm leaving a Comment on this vid as I watch the BLADE review you made. I laughed when I first seen it, too. Why the heck don't they give that figure a different head that's neutral WITH the head he came with. When you gave this Daredevil a close up to show the lack of movement from his neck articulation, I laugh at the Cheesy Doritos Face he had. Don't waste your money reviewing these figures. They are not worth it unless you find them at Ross for $6
