1979 - What a year! I remember cruising all over hell and half of Georgia in my fire engine red '79 Trans Am with this song blastin' on the stereo. What great memories, seems like it was only yesterday!
There was a period of time, from late 1979 until about 1982 or 83, when there was a lot of experimentation in music, as the industry was trying to figure out what was going to be the next big thing after disco. This album, Rise, was a perfect example of the plethora of post-disco, pre-Michael Jackson Thriller music, which was by and large wonderful, timeless music.
Completely agree. It was a time when a completely instrumental song (with a lead trumpet, no less) was a Top 40 staple. Thank goodness for satellite radio, so this kind of music still gets decent airplay.

I worked at a Musicland record store back in 1979 and this album came out then. When it was closing time and we would shut the gate and close out the books, count up the sales and do the deposit, we'd often play this, really loud throughout the store and loud enough for all the other people closing in the stores around us to hear it to. So much fun. Herb Alpert is amazing. Used to skip around the house when my mother (who I'm pretty sure secretly had a crush on him!) would play TJB records on the turntable stereo in the old console stereo. I was very young when this song came out. I took a train to work and while standing and waiting for it, I used to see a most attractive guy also waiting for the train. My grandma passed a while back, I took her records and saw this one. I’ve always been into old music so I was so exited. Every time I play this it reminds me of her
Herb Albert's music donated in the 70's another good song of his was The lonely bull"
Legendary Herb Alpert - musician, composer , painter , producer, co owner of record company A&M , wonderful 👌🙏🏻

your music is to my soul and heart ...
I'm old enough to remember Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass in the early 1960's.
Dope bassline!
Love this tune and "magic man".
2019 and this song is forever timeless and still incredibly sensual. Spectacular ❣️
Words can't express all the emotions and memories this song brings to my mind and heart. Touches my soul man 💕
Thank You Herb!
Originally came across his music played over the PA system as a passenger with Air New Zealand DC10 taxing on the tarmac after landing at Auckland New Zealand in the morning after a overnight flight from LAX via HNL to Auckland in February 1981. A Herb Albert beautiful piece of work transmitted on my Air New Zealand DC10 at sunrise into Auckland. Great memories. Yes Rise! With thanks!

I was very young when this song came out. I took a train to work and while standing and waiting for it, I used to see a most attractive guy also waiting for the train. Couldn't help but notice he was always looking at me too, but we never spoke. Whenever I heard this song back then, I thought of the sexy guy on the train. Nice memory.
One of the good guys of the music industry who knew the business from both sides had talent and knew how to spot quirky talent that other people couldn't see. A and M was great record label - oh yeah hell of a groovy track
Touches the heart and soul❤❤
Great song; great musicians. Medicine for the soul.
This song brings back beautiful memories I was so surprised to see that Lani was wearing the same style as I would wear palazzo pants and boots. How I long for those days of great music such as this. Congratulations Mr. Alpert on the UCLA school of music dedication to your name.
100% Class Act straight out of Eastside Los Angeles/Boyle Heights who is simply an Awesome humanitarian and he and Lani still display their love just like this, they still hold hands at their concerts lots of love and respect between them KUDOS to Herb and Lani for their loving example ...Love me some Herb Albert and this 70's music!!!!
This one of my favorites. Used this music to teach students to clap and walk to the beat of the music. Excellent!
3:10 Got me feeling a little Hypnotized
Listen to this and Mr. Magic from Grover Washington Jr. and you have two of the smoothest jazz songs ever!!!
