Everything! Page by page please!!!
Well, if this isn’t the best bedtime story I’ve ever heard. 😂 what a fabulous piece of history! It’s awesome to see how American society was changing in those post-war years.
What a delightful treasure! Thanks for sharing the cost of other items at that time, and the appreciated cost of those dresses today.
Loved it! Yes, more please!
I love this catalog! Thank you very much for sharing!
Matilda.
Love this! How I wish I could go back in time and purchase everything from that era❤️
Thank You! Would love to see more 👍
I would love to see the furniture :)
Absolutely love this type of video. Thank you for sharing, Christine. So much good information!
You are so welcome!
What a fabulous treat, can't wait for you to give us part ll. My own dresses are based on many of the looks in the illustrations. I love the materials, colors, patterns, and the flow of the garments. I also love the shoulder length hairstyles featured in the photos. For work tomorrow, I'm going to use your tips from your video on how to deal with frizzy hair, and style it in the pageboy shown in the catalogue. And also I'll be wearing one of my flowiest frocks.
Sounds wonderful! I'm sure it will look lovely.
Yes, I'd love to see everything! I remember mail order catalogs when i was growing up and sitting on those piled up with a pot at the dinner table! I'd prefer that method, honestly. The cost of a car seems expensive when you compare it to the cost of a house. So interesting!
I thought the same thing!🧐
@@wrinklesandsprinkles I just checked and the average price of a car in 2021 is....get ready for it....$40,472 😳 I don't know who the average folk are, but I guess I don't make that cut! Haha For reference, the average cost of a house in 2021 is $400,000
@@vintagedoll4850 That’s why my car is a year 2000 & I don’t own a house! My income does not keep up with the increased cost of goods. 😉
Love this video! I believe The Closet Historian does videos similar to this- the more the merrier! Thank you for preserving these cool fashion documents in video form!
I'd love to see any and all catalogs-I love finding things I own in them, on occasion. PLZ HATS
Yes, I would love see everything! Mom talked about getting the Sears catalogue in early 1960s.
Dear Christine, thank you very much! Oh, you are so lucky to have such an excellent catalog! What wonderful models. 😍 I've never heard of a brunch coat, if I heard correctly, sorry for my poor English 🙈. Thank you for the 1947 retrospective, it was so interesting! 😃 And of course it is interesting to see everything of this catalogue, including furniture! 👏 Special thanks for the music. It was like I visited some spa while watching the video, so relaxing beauty! 😌 🙏 Do you have some similar models in your wardrobe with which ones we saw in this catalogue?
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I do have some similar dresses in my wardrobe, mostly the house dress or shirt dresses. And yes, you heard correct, it was called a Brunch Coat! That was a new term to me, but I love the idea of it.
@@TheGlambassador Thank you, Christine 🤗. Oh, I would love to see your similar dresses compared to this catalog.😍
And I wonder why this dress is named brunch coat?
That was the year before I was born.
That was 👍🏼 great, yes please show more. I really love it.
I would love to see the Lane Bryant!
I have a couple of blog posts with my Lane Bryant catalogs, the most recent one has the full 1942 catalog as a flip book. But I will absolutely do a video for my Lane Bryant catalogs. chronically-overdressed.com/2021/05/27/1942-plus-size-vintage-styles-from-lane-bryant-catalog/
I would love if you keep doing these, it feels like a time capsule. So many nice dresses that I would buy for sure 😄
Thank you, I think I will. I just got a Spiegel catalog from from 1939 that is absolutely divine!
Good morning Glambassador! You posted a video a couple weeks back about a pin in braid you use. I can't find the video anymore and I'm hoping you can share it again. Thanks so much
Hello! That was on my blog. Here’s the link for you. chronically-overdressed.com/2021/04/29/1940s-braided-headband/
If there are kids clothes, I'd be curious to see them-my aunt was a year old, and my dad arrived in early 1947, so my grandmother was clearly buying clothes for them during this year (and like, every year going forward, he's one of 9 kids.)
Related: Grandma had some hella fashionable maternity options there.
I especially loved the aprons! Do you know of a supplier for vintage aprons?
I find most of mine at flea markets, antique shops or on Etsy.
Are there pets in the catalog? My friend said her mom purchased a monkey for her as a girl. I’m curious if pets are in the catalog.
At 24:04, why does the girl all the way on the left have my face, haha?
Oh my gosh! She does look like you!!!
Hi..could you check out if catalog contains any wood or coal burning cock stoves
As soon as I unpack all my catalogs from my move, I'll have a look for you. I have a few 1930s Spiegel catalogs as well that I can check for you.
