I know this was filmed before he passed away, but it still feels surreal to hear you two talk about his addiction. He was ripped away from us far too quickly. Rip Matty. ❤
The fact that Matthew wanted Zac to play him if they ever made a biopic on his life really breaks me while watching this movie again. Hope you're cracking jokes and making everyone laugh in heaven Matty.
This was a lot of fun. Thank you for watching 17 Again. And thank you for liking it! Much appreciated! And yes, Zac spent some time with Matt leading up to filming in order to learn his mannerisms.
On the topic of Zac being super nice, I got a whole new respect for him when I watched his Netflix documentary Down To Earth, he’s just such a laid-back guy
I loved this movie so much! I thought Efron killed it! And Matthew Perry was fantastic as well. People didn’t give this movie a chance because of the stigma of Efron had being a Disney teen from a super cheesy Disney Channel movie. And anytime I heard someone say something negative about Efron around this time I always would urge them to watch this movie. Because this movie absolutely changed my perspective on him completely.
There's a K-Drama that made a remake of this as a show, and it was really great too! Highly recommend it to those who aren't aware it's called 18 again.
This movie is awesome. I haven't laughed this much, from a reaction video, in so long. This and "Fools rush in" are my favorite Matthew Perry movies. RIP Matthew Perry
If you enjoy this movie, then I suggest watching the kdrama 18 again, which has the same premise but delves much deeper into the whole story. It is an amazing heartfelt drama.
Thanks for doing this, gentlemen. Good movie, good review, and great input. I agree with Jaby about the message. It might not play well in present society, but it doesn't mean it's wrong.
When I first saw this movie I was working at a school and was kinda freaked out at how cute Zack Efron was. Then I realized we are the exact same age! He was definitely in his 20s
We had jock ass hats like this in my school. These movies embellish it for the drama like anything else, but they existed in the 90's at least. We had one pair (Josh and Jason) Basketball & Football dudes who basically treated everyone not in the cool kids click like trash. Pushing people out of the way when they walked down the hall, steal your food, beat up/pick on the littlest kids in the locker rooms.... Because they were the "stars" of their teams and the teams were consistently in the top 5 for NY state they got away with just about everything. Didnt help Jasons father was also the head gym teacher, & football/basketball coach.
I always wonder why people like that behave that way. You would think given their status and looks and everything great that comes with being popular, that they wouldn't go out of their way to treat others like shit. That never made sense to me. Luckily, most of that crowd were pretty cool at my high school. Granted, there a few that fit the stereotype, but the jock and cheerleader crowd was generally nice. The delinquent crowd, on the other hand. Those guys were the assholes.
Forgot to say, one of my go to movies.. loved it.& your homage to Mathew Perry, Chandler Bing was really nice & heartfelt. He always made me laugh out loud. I watched that series on loop during the best time of my life, when my boys were little & worst time of my life, after I lost my brother…that show has been part of my life for years & I’m listening to his audible book, wasn’t sure if I could, thought I’d be too sad but he still has that ability to make u laugh whilst talking about addiction & I’m paying attention. I’d hate to think what the rest of the cast are going thru. The World’s has lost a Friend 😞❤…never thought I’d see that in my life time.😢RIP Matthew Perry..gone way too soon.not fair.
Honestly, what kind of mother/woman would give legal paperwork to a highschooler she barely knows, on the word of her son simply saying he's some uncle's random bastard... Lmfao. I haven't watched this is years, but that is the most illogical plot point. 😅
you might want to check out "oh baby" if you havnt yet...its a telugu movie which is definitely inspired by 17 again, but has enough distinction from it
I haven't seen that many of Matthew Perry's movies, but this is one of the few I did see and really dug it when it came out. I could relate to his character so much. Granted, I wasn't good-looking and popular in high school, nor am I married on the verge of divorce with two kids who hate me, but I definitely connect with feeling like my life could've went in a better direction if I'd made better decisions. Also, Jaby, are you sure meant to say Tobey Maguire when you mentioned Spider-Man? Because Andrew Garfield's movies didn't come out until a few years after this. As far as the self-respect thing, even though Mike is well-intentioned and coming from the place of a dad, it's still kind of problematic given the context of the scene. He's basically slut-shaming them and you know that nobody ever lectures guys about "self-respect" whenever we're horny and trying to get laid. There's nothing wrong with wanting to scratch an itch and leave it at that. Your situation with that drunk girl is a very different thing. And good on you for being a gentleman about that. A lot of guys, especially when we were growing up, would've taken advantage.
since y'all have been reacting to kdramas recently, there's a kdrama version of this called 18 Again starring the guy from The Glory. I'd recommend you check that out too.
Okay I do not think that was mansplaining, it was just a fatherly advice that a father was trying to give his daughter and her friends. It wasn't coming from a place where a man thinks he knows better than someone who has experienced life as a woman but rather it was from a father who has seen life and is disappointed by how shallow and misguided teenagers often are.
@@Insomnia1029nah he's great at dramatic roles but not the right fit for Johnny storm. I would pick zac but I feel he's a bit too old for the role. Someone who's in his mid 20s would be great.
I like this channel and most of the content but everytime Jaby is on here he just has the worst takes and unnecessary comments about women. I really don’t get it. Doubling down on outdated tropes from 2009 makes no sense. Really thought we were past the idea that women wanting sex means they don’t respect themselves.
Well he's not wrong. Modern day women especially in California have the habit of acting trashy and have a preference for bad boys but also complain that they are treated like shit by those same guys. All jaby is asking is to have better standards for yourself which is a very normal thing to say.

The relatability and vulnerability that Mathew Perry brings to Mike are what truly elevates 17 Again. RIP you comedian legend
I know this was filmed before he passed away, but it still feels surreal to hear you two talk about his addiction. He was ripped away from us far too quickly. Rip Matty. ❤
Just a very unexpected death for sure

That’s what I’ve been saying fr years Zack efron is friggin underrated.

RIP Mathew, loved his work, loved this movie. I wish they made more movies like this but that's too much to ask for these days I guess
Can't even watch 😢
Rewatching this movie with you was a treat. Getting to see Matthew Perry at one of his best again was great. RIP.

Fun movie and underrated soundtrack.
R.I.P. Matthew Perry 🙏
Finally, the type of reactions Jaby is known for. Loved to see how much you enjoyed the movie as much as I do whenever I watch it ❤
One of my all time favourite movie. Miss You - Mathew Perry
This movie really touched me the first time I saw it..." You were the best decision I ever made, I just forgot." ❤️ that line there...

And rip Matthew Perry.

Strange coincidence. There’s a previous version of this movie made with Keanu reeves as the teenager, Matthew’s nemesis. It’s called Young Again”
I love this movie...feels very nostalgic✨
Happy to see jaby doing this tribute although some people don't see the love in this video and think that he's trying to monetize his death

I feel like Zac gets a lot of shit because he started out on Disney but he’s actually a great actor, he’s had some great films

nope, I'd rather go back to being 7 again!
Funny movie
Not to put any shade on Matthew Perry whatsoever, but the K-drama remake of this movie, called "18 Again" tells the story much better.
Jaby's eyes are way too red.. Seems like my bro had some good stuff before recording the reaction 😉🤫🤭

south korea made a series outta this movie
Why can't Scarlett O'Donnell played by Leslie Mann enjoy being called Scar?
Nooo… That wasn’t mansplaining. That was an adult trying to give three kids a confidence boost.
If that girl was my daughter I would have her in therapy
