@@BudgetBuildz Not hard to rub it down,Mask it up, put on some Primer, Rub it down, mask it up, Paint 3 coats, Rub it down, and then wax it. lmao Just found your channel. You have a great Accent. Good Luck with it all Matey. From Australia.
Take the rear bumper off too. On the front either fill in the holes and add the blinkers back , or make a custom bumper pulled close to the body, with the blinker lights back for safety purposes.
I would keep the original wheels, they suit the car much better. Keep up the good work, it's fun to watch making all these cars run again on a shoestring!
Nothing is more satisfying than FastForward interior vacuuming/shampooing. Trucks lookin good! I like it with the bumper. If possible, I'd try to find some GTI rims for it.
Thanks for motivating me to work on my 1993 Subaru Sambar, now I just have to order the parts I need (timing belt, water pump and head gasket to start). The interior came out great, fantastic job!!!
Looks much nicer than before, I would try to remove the carpet maybe clean the floor pan from any surface rust if it has any and apply a coat of underseal or something similar for protection. Thumbs up for the mk3 steelies.
the Dash looks great! I like the stock rims WAAAAY more with those chrome centercaps. !!good move on finding a parts car I just acquired one myself for my W115 diesel project.
I think the interior looks very nice. Great work! The wheels not so sure. I would rather leave it stock if possible. I'm loving the videos on all your projects. Good job! Keep it up! Greetings from Argentina!
You can get dye for the carpets and the seats pretty cheap and make them look brand new. Not sure if you plan to leave it more original looking, but it's a fun and satisfying DIY option. Nice progress
The truck will be a great daily-driver, I wish I had one like it! The only thing I'd do is see if I could make it 4-wheel drive. In NY State we have to have bumpers on our rides to pass inspection, you might want to look into what your State requires. Your little girl is adorable, you're a blessed man, peace be with you bro!
Great work on the build. I think the new wheels will look good with tires. If possible, consider using the lights/grill from the parts truck. The round lights look much better.
I think that the interior came out just fine. It is nice when things aren't all torn up, so what you did was worth doing. It is not a restoration, so some honest wear and signs of use are completely acceptable. It is clean enough for the Boss (AKA wife) to ride in in her good clothes, now. Personally, I would put cloth covers on both seats, first to preserve them and, most importantly, who likes sitting on a vinyl seat that has been sitting in the hot sun or in the cold overnight? I would also condition and UV protect that "new" dash if you haven't already done so. Good job.
Hi Buddy and glad you had a good family time on your cruise 🚢 😃 Now I’m glad your back doing videos as it’s a pleasure watching an ordinary guy fix up motors in his back yard 👍🏻 VW looking great but when it’s complete look out for better seats other than that keep going on what your doing Cheers Stevie 😎🇬🇧
That carpet cleaned up a lot better than I thought. I wonder if one of those upholstery cleaners with the scrub cap would do anything g on the stains that are left. And the seat too. Lots of elbow grease. Just like real life. Keep up the good work!!!
Wheels looks good! And personally I would not be bothered with a new carpet. The origianal one have a charecter that new one will not have. Anyway, you have a good taste in what you are planing to do with this awesome machine. Love it!
Rims " hubcaps " look good spray 9 is the best for degreasing anything with and it's safe to use on alot of things taken an old tire spray it with spray 9 let it sit then take a brush to the tire and rinse you will be shocked at how well it works 20 years of detailing experience. Oven cleaner works well on heavy engine grease as well as spray 9
Michael, the interior cleaned up nicely, especially considering it's a 1980. The steel wheels are fine, unless you can find nicer wheels for a good price. Can wait to see more of the Porsche.
looking good I remember when my parents had a VW rabbit that color back in the day and it was brand new the rims look wider than the stock ones but don't like the hubcaps would look good with the stock center caps from the truck and inside looks good but you can put seat covers on it and paint the carpet with carpet dye paint to change it up really like these kind of builds that's how I always did it buy it cheap and fix her up.
You're going to need a bumper (unless the truck develops its own defense shield) & front turn signals. Just so oncoming traffic doesn't have to guess at which way you're going to turn. Just an idea. The seats & carpet look o.k., & probably smell worlds better. And finally, I think the original wheels would look better once their paint has been freshened.
I installed honda civic hx wheels on my caddy. looked perfect. i had to widen the center a little bit but it was worth it. super light wheels and looked and handled great on it
Magic eraser works great on vinyl, Give it a shot on the seats. Also, I've had good luck getting stubborn dirt and grease out of carpet with dawn dish soap. Also, I personally think the hub caps aren't the right look for the truck. Great video!
New dash looks awsome , find a cover to help keep it from cracking, awsome job on the seat and getting the carpet cleaned up, should try and find some Blue Rabbit floor mats that would set off the interior for sure . One thing that puzzles me is i wonder if the steering wheel is rare . I had a 79 rabbit in this color combo but it had a black steering wheel .
Looks a lot better bumper-less. I'd just look into finding a way to fill the holes left in the valence. I honestly think the new steelies would work pretty well with that truck. I'd consider going with them if the tires were easier or cheaper to source than the original size tires.
This actual vehicle continued to be made and sold in Europe well past the year 2000. But it was badged and sold as a Skoda, another VW company. They were very common in the the U.K. and Portugal in particular. There will be many spares, new and used available if you can find them via the internet . There really was very like changed, they were a simple rugged cheap working truck.
Keep the bumper off. Back in the early eighties we students filled out our wheelarches with bigger steel wheels fitted with wider tyres. Massively cheaper than alloys. I had a mk1 Golf (Rabbit) which originally had 145/13 tyres on it. Then I found that 175/70 tyres went on the same rim. They looked chunky!
A little elbow grease goes a long towards the clean interior, I dig it. As for the wheels, I agree they are a little plain but they look way better than what you had beforehand so for a budget build I say throw some good tires on them and send it. Keep up the good work!
Paint the original wheels and keep them on. Keep that thing as original as you can.
I prefer the old wheels, those really match with the overall style of the car. Great video as always!
I like the original wheels better, Great Work!
Try to find a Euro spec bumper or later style one
The steelies looks good and period correct, they need a good clean, maybe a paint idk
Keep it standard just refurbish the bumper and wheels. That’s an ultimate budget build. The interior looks so much better. 👍🏻
Boy I sure hope you keep that paint, the patina and decals look amazing on this rabbit. I like the look of the new wheels!
I definitely will!

Good Luck with it all Matey. From Australia.
gotta get some 80's BBS wheels on it. I've always wanted one of these trucks, thanks for sharing.
Take the rear bumper off too. On the front either fill in the holes and add the blinkers back , or make a custom bumper pulled close to the body, with the blinker lights back for safety purposes.
Great idea to bring the interior back. I like the wheelcovers. I would repaint the bumper and put it back on...just me. I like your methodology...
I would keep the original wheels, they suit the car much better. Keep up the good work, it's fun to watch making all these cars run again on a shoestring!
Definitely an improvement and keeping it "original."
I'm 25 ways envious over your acquisition of this sweet little truck.
😊
You can see you videos improving everytime and your becoming more relaxed in front of the camera. Keep going the way you are and you'll keep growing.
Thank you so much! 😊
I am thrilled that the bumper is off, the car looks way better now. Additionally, I think the interior refresh turned out great.
Chromes with baby moons would look nice 👍
My friend fixes dashes ,cracks, cuts anything ,looks perfect can’t tell
You are killing it on the Caddy. Love these trucks. Keep up the good work.
Nice work. Spray carpets with shampoo and work in with drill brush. Then suction off with wet vac.
Thank you! I’ll give that a try!
75$ for a clean 80 dash!!! You did good that was a steal....
Nothing is more satisfying than FastForward interior vacuuming/shampooing. Trucks lookin good! I like it with the bumper. If possible, I'd try to find some GTI rims for it.
😃 thank you! It’ll have a bumper again, don’t worry! Sounds like a good idea!
Truck looks super clean with new interior!
Try a brush attachment for a drill and some good carpet cleaner and have a go at the carpets again.
I just love the Rabbit Caddy. I had three in high school and college - diesel though. great little almost trucks.
Haha Yeap, almost trucks! 😄
Thanks for motivating me to work on my 1993 Subaru Sambar, now I just have to order the parts I need (timing belt, water pump and head gasket to start). The interior came out great, fantastic job!!!
Awesome! 🙂 thank you!
Budget Buildz anytime and the steel rims look great too.
Surprisingly the wheels look good I just wish they were bigger
Looks much nicer than before, I would try to remove the carpet maybe clean the floor pan from any surface rust if it has any and apply a coat of underseal or something similar for protection. Thumbs up for the mk3 steelies.
the Dash looks great! I like the stock rims WAAAAY more with those chrome centercaps. !!good move on finding a parts car I just acquired one myself for my W115 diesel project.
The interior looks original, as if it’s been cared for better than the old one. It doesn’t look new, and that’s probably a good thing, for this truck.
Interior looks 100% better, well on its way to be finished. Great to see another video, keep up the hard work. 😉👍🏴
Thank you! 🙂
I'd say the steelies and trim rings are the way to go. I'd stay away from white walls! lol
Need to see them tires on the rims and they will look way better. So far so good!
I think the interior looks very nice. Great work! The wheels not so sure. I would rather leave it stock if possible. I'm loving the videos on all your projects. Good job! Keep it up! Greetings from Argentina!
Thank you! I’ll definitely keep that in mind 😊
I like it with the bumper on the truck, just repaint it, dont care for the wheels though, repaint the originals. Interior looks great. 👍
I ve always liked the Rabbit pickups. You've managed to do quite a bit so far. Good work !
Thank you!
You can get dye for the carpets and the seats pretty cheap and make them look brand new. Not sure if you plan to leave it more original looking, but it's a fun and satisfying DIY option. Nice progress
GTI snowflake wheels would look pretty cool
The interior looks great. Good to go! Add floor mats and you are done!!
The steam cleaning helped. 👍
The truck will be a great daily-driver, I wish I had one like it! The only thing I'd do is see if I could make it 4-wheel drive. We don’t have to here but I’ll definitely be putting one back on! 4wd would be so cool! Thank you so much 😊
The patina on that thing is awesome
Great work on the build. I think the new wheels will look good with tires. If possible, consider using the lights/grill from the parts truck. The round lights look much better.
The interior came out fine remember you are Budget builds ! If the truck makes the cut down the line you can always revisit that part later 👍🏻
🙂🙂
The wheels are fine 👍

Now for the rust 🧼🤔
That interior is super clean

Bumper-less is way better looking. Like the new wheels.
I like the wheels,be even better with some window tint to make it pop,a thumbs up for that!!!
I think that would look great too!
That carpet cleaned up a lot better than I thought. I wonder if one of those upholstery cleaners with the scrub cap would do anything g on the stains that are left. And the seat too. Lots of elbow grease. Just like real life. Keep up the good work!!!
I’ll definitely work more at it! Thank you! 🙂
Looks good!😃 Seats, carpet, and wheels. You could cover the seats with plush throw rugs.
The rabbit truck is starting to look good, I would paint the bumpers black or chrome them, the rugs I would dye them black.
.
I think those Jetta/Golf covers look pretty good on it.
One thing is sure:That interior is better than yesterday!Keep it up sir!
Wheels looks good! And personally I would not be bothered with a new carpet. The origianal one have a charecter that new one will not have. Anyway, you have a good taste in what you are planing to do with this awesome machine. Love it!

TX for sharing
man you're videos make me miss my little MK2 Golf. I still own it but its half way across the country and probably wouldn't make the drive.
Rims " hubcaps " look good spray 9 is the best for degreasing anything with and it's safe to use on alot of things taken an old tire spray it with spray 9 let it sit then take a brush to the tire and rinse you will be shocked at how well it works 20 years of detailing experience. You should try a brush for your drill to clean the carpet
Fit for purpose. Looks good.

Thank you! I can’t wait to share more! 🙂 this week!
Some fabric dye in a rattle can would probably work wonders on that carpet
looking good I remember when my parents had a VW rabbit that color back in the day and it was brand new the rims look wider than the stock ones but don't like the hubcaps would look good with the stock center caps from the truck and inside looks good but you can put seat covers on it and paint the carpet with carpet dye paint to change it up really like these kind of builds that's how I always did it buy it cheap and fix her up.

Plasti-Dip makes a great rattle can solution to all that lightly rusted paint, too!
For that carpet you need to use a stronger degreaser. Purple power and a carpet brush on a polisher. It will foam up and wipe off.
Thanks I’ll give that a try!
I installed honda civic hx wheels on my caddy. looked perfect. i had to widen the center a little bit but it was worth it. super light wheels and looked and handled great on it
www.vwtruckforsale.com/1982-diesel-1-6l-5spd-in-sacramento-ca/
Sweet! I vote no hubcaps.
Magic eraser works great on vinyl, Give it a shot on the seats. Also, I've had good luck getting stubborn dirt and grease out of carpet with dawn dish soap. Also, I personally think the hub caps aren't the right look for the truck. Great video!
Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll give it a try! Yeah, I’ll come up with something 🙂
Interior is looking good
I’d do a disc brake conversion and throw some old school GTI rims on there.
They always look good with the euro bumpers and the 84’ GTI front spoiler.
Interior looks great!
You got lucky with that dash. That thing is mint. Cool that this is a manual shift. For some reason, I thought they only came with auto. 👍
Really like the wheels, and yes they'll look better with tires! And bumperless is the way to go! Following this and the Ford truck build, subbed!
Glad to have you!!
Inside is good with the wash.for the wheels, keep the original with small chrome hub caps, they look better.
In my opinion the wheels look nice, they give off a Porsche vibe
Comming along nicely!
I'd say you successfully made "chicken salad" outta "chicken sh*t" regarding that interior. Well done!
😂
You have a great channel. Can’t wait to see how the 911 turns out. Keep on keeping on!!
Thank you so much! 😊
Looks a lot better bumper-less. I'd just look into finding a way to fill the holes left in the valence.
I honestly think the new steelies would work pretty well with that truck. I'd consider going with them if the tires were easier or cheaper to source than the original size tires.
The Steelies fit the vibe - wider too! Better salvage the turn signals out of your bumper.

Awesome vid, I like how you keep it on a budget and how clean and practical it’s coming out.
Thank you! 🙂
Maybe get a steamer off of Amazon. That would help with the stains in the carpet and the vinyl seats. Good job bro
Thanks I’ll probably end up doing that!
it really looks nice . that's a amazing vw rabbit .i had a 87 rabbit, man i miss that car.
It looks great.
Makes me miss my A1 GTI.
New rims look much better!

I had a mk1 Golf (Rabbit) which originally had 145/13 tyres on it. Then I found that 175/70 tyres went on the same rim. They looked chunky!
Sweet!! Hubcaps look good but imo would look better with just the black steelies with chrome lugs
That interior cleaned up really nice
Like the newbies with tires
I really like the steelies
A little elbow grease goes a long towards the clean interior, I dig it. As for the wheels, I agree they are a little plain but they look way better than what you had beforehand so for a budget build I say throw some good tires on them and send it. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much!
Go to a carpet ( seller ) shop and get 4 discontinued samples to use as truck mats !
use the steelies but get some moons or even dog dish hubcabs, maybe original VW bug chrome hubcaps on black steelies
Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see the rust gone of the hood and roof but that's just my ocd.
Thank you! The hood isn’t rusty 😕 sadly that’s the primer under the paint where some of it has chipped off.
I'd use the steam cleaner on the seat bottom as well.
If your going to keep the colour the VWwheels will look good with the tyres depends on the colour of the body ...
