The "Emperor has not clothes" line is a homage to a classic tale of an emperor ordering a new robe. Agree about the note with Last Rites intro... I think all I had heard was Symphony at that point, so when I put on the debut and I hear that as my true intro to the band... it certainly leaves an impression. And then right into that AWESOME riff

Are we really still doing this 40 years later? There's really no "better than". You can like them both or you can say I like this megadeth song better than that metallica song or vice versa. Ie, i like wake up dead over most metallica songs, but i like several metallica songs over some megadeth songs. I like battery over most of KIMB songs. It's personal preference. I don't think either band is particularly more talented than the other. They kinda even out. I will say I've never really cared for Kirk's playing. Some leads are ok. But its a lot of pentatonic stuff and wah pedals and what I call geometrical playing. Dave does a lot of that too. The same pattern in different locations. But never anything too complicated. Chris Poland is still my favorite. I'm rambling. Percocet makes me do that.

There are a few misses here and there, but Dave has always been pretty quick to self correct after each of his misses. This in contrast to Metallica who has just been one long string of miss after miss after miss after miss on everything after the black album. There are two Metallica's, the old and the suck; whereas there is only one Megadeth who mostly hit but sometimes miss.
This is exactly it man. Metallica highs are nearly undefeatable, but they defeated it themselves by ruining their image. Megadeth remains consistent, and so in some sense, I prefer Megadeth
