I just had dental-implant surgery. I got two in my upper left side of the mouth. The doctor said I have “great bone,” but this video makes me worry that my implants may not last.
Hi also have left lower 2nd molar implant with some bone loss. It’s a zirconium cera root implant. I’ve had it for about 5 years. It very sore around the outside of the implant toward the cheek. It’s very pink. I’ve been on antibiotics 3x, oil pull, use castor oil, peppermint oil, oregano and rosemary oil at different times together healing. Still sore! It’s always felt like the skin was stretched around the implant. I’m ready to have it removed because of the discomfort. It’s not worth the pain it causes. I can’t have metal implants either. What are my options? Would lasering the gums help remove the infection or make it worse? Your expert opinion would be appreciated.
I recently had a implant (3 weeks ago) I made mistake of putting my old mouth guard in one night. Big mistake, it must of pushed down on the implant and now I'm in quite of bit of pain. Not sure if it will heal or should I have it removed and repack with new bone graft. My surgeon says wait a few weeks or months, but the pain is not getting better.
what was the outcome? i have the screw in my jaw and its been in maybe 2 or 3 months. and i have my flipper that i dont wear often unless im around someone. the other day i had a electrician here for about 5 or 6 hours and i wore my flipper that long and then the next day as well. i think my flipper might of put to much pressure on my gum. and its throbbing almost all day day and a little yesterday and day before. my gum doesnt look swollen or infected. i cant find a answer anywhere if throbbing here or there is normal. every single page immediately goes to "infection"
Didn't answer the question he asked on n infections at all and how to treat c or symptoms just bone loss only nothing before and after infection and treatment a complete waste of time and video
How do you kill the bacteria when antibiotics don’t work? Can any dentist remove a zirconia implant or should it be done by a surgeon. I know they can’t be unscrewed.
Hello, Doctor, my wife recently had the final stages of the implant a few months ago, but still indicates that there is pain around that area. She went to her dentist, who removed the implant which caused her excruciating pain. Initially, the dentist used no local anesthetic but finally used a local to finish the removal..Because of the pain involved with the procedure of removing the implant, she wants no further treatment or replacement. How would you react to a patient requesting a full refund? Thanks......(Great Vid)
if you have bone loss around the implant. you'll do a bone graph and add bone correct??.... do you than put the same screw back in (cleaned up of course) or put a brand new one in??
I had a dental implant placed about twelve years ago. The cap wasn’t placed properly. The dentist eventually replaced the cap but the implant always hurt when I chewed gum or just generally every time I chewed on it. I had to see a few dentist. Each dentist told me they couldn’t find anything wrong. I finally found a dentist that told me the dental implant might have been placed too high or too low but he wasn’t sure. How does a dentist determine how to place a dental implant? He informed me of this after I had the screw and abutment replaced twice
It is stories like yours that cause me to be afraid of getting an implant. I'm afraid that after all the expense I won't like it. But, I don't have much options.
I know some periodontists talk about various parasites found in the mouth that can be shown under the microscope periodontitis such as spirochetes, trichomonas amoeba, spinning rods, gliding rods. Are they proven to be the cause of periodontitis? I thought bacteria forming plaque which then becomes tartar and when not removed, causes inflammation in the long run and is the culprit of periodontitis. Would love that you educate us about the real causes of periodontitis so we can have awareness.
I had implants denture 4 in 1 top bottom. They had to do a bone graft and I also told them that I grind and clench dentist said it didn’t matter It’s been 4 years since the implants and I’m experiencing TMJ which I never had before the implants even when I had teeth, I’ve been getting really bad headaches , anxiety, wooshing and hearing a beating sound inside my head with a very hot sensation inside my head and I’ve been getting neck and shoulder pain that I’ve never had before the implants, I constantly get a reading on my blood test t that my red and while blood cells are high. The last time I visited my dentist he says because I’ve been clenching and grinding so hard that you can see the metal on my dentures , if im grinding so hard doesn’t that mean the implanted are moving up and the bottom down ? Please answer my question I need help I’ve been unwell and I do have nerve damage but I don’t know if this was before or after my implants They are titanium implants
I got the exact same problem! I'm thinking getting them all out, very tired of them. I had two of them removed and felt better. How have you handled your problem?
I got an implant 4 months ago, they did the torque test and they said it had integrated. A hole in my gums formed and has a little pus coming out. Is it worth saving or should it be removed. I immediately got on antibiotics and now most of the pus is gone. Dentist appointment next week
i just had an implant put in a couple months ago, and i noticed it getting a bit loose, well i must of bit into it and it just fell out ,the whole thing.will he be able to just put a thicker one in or use the same hole of the one that fallout and put a thicker one in ,or am i screwed here?it the tooth next to my front teeth?
Dr. Choi, you casually say that if the bone loss is great, that you take the implant out and start again with the new implant. Does this mean that I have to pay again for the new one? Also, my regular dentist wants to do the whole job himself. Is that wise? He also never said what is the implant's quality. Just the price. No options. I' m affraid of complications as I can barely afford it. Would you advise people to do this with regular dentists? I live in East Europe btw.
My centre tooth implant was placed at angle as bone density was minimal. Even at angle the abutment was placed with difficulty and when the torque was applied slight movement was seen. 3d x-ray and x-ray showed movement. I was injected with penicillin in the site and taken 875 mg of augmentin. 6 weeks check up. If no b9ne growth he wants it out. My question is in 6 weeks can I create sufficient bone scaffolding for that implant? If not it out. I guess
My daughter has just been told her dental implant screw didn’t fuse with her jaw and thus didn’t work, she is back at the dentist in a couple weeks to have it removed, it is her front upper tooth, what other options does she have
i think my flipper pressed on my gum to long the other day and irritated my gun. ive had horrible throbbing most of the day today, and then 2 other days i had a few moments of throbbing. ibprofin isnt working. i hope this goes away and isnt a failure. i have the screw in for 2 or 3 months now. still need to get the crown put in. is occasional throbbing once in a while normal
My mother will soon have implant retained dentures on 4 implants and this is exactly my worry about implant failure. Although the dentist who will do the implants is an implant specialist with qualifications from various universities in the UK my worry is iff the implants begin to fail half way trhough the integration phase we have thrown large amounts of money away. My mother is 70 with only 3 teeth remaining which will be removed before implants.
@@northtexasdentalsurgery the CT x-rays have not been taken yet. This is what we are debating if to have them taken because even those x-rays are expensive. Will the CT show bone density?

I am going through the process right now and have been using the temporary "fixed" dentures for about a year now. For context i had bone loss and Dr. Did grafting process. However, there are two spots in my gums that when the temporary implants are tightened it hurts! No problem I say to myself trust the process! Forward to a few days later and my screwed a.k.a. "fixed" dentures are so loose they make sound as I try and speak 😢 what could be the reason? Also, today I got the call that my permanent fixed dentures are here, i want to be excited but I can't help it but to be worried help?😢
My gum area is inflamed and/or infected near the bottom back leftIs it really important to keep the back molar (implant) intact and cleaned or should I have it totally removed?
I’m about to have mine removed. Had it 5 years. Sick and tired of the irritation and pain! I’ve done everything from antibiotics to oil pulling, essential oils, castor oil, rinses and salt rinses after all meals. It don’t matter! I just had the opposing upper molar removed due to an infection from a cracked root being root canal! Another huge mistake…..Root canals. I’ll probably be in a top denture by the time I’m 60..better than being infected. All my grandparents had them and got along fine. I’d rather have my teeth. The rest are in good shape. If everything heals ok, I’ll get those molars redone. I can’t have metal. Nor will I out it in my body. This one is a cera root zirconia
So if you spend all this $ on a implant and it fails a year or few years later. Your out the money and the tooth? Being in constant discomfort from a implant scares me from not doing it. That and the cost
Hi Dr Choi, is periodontitis uncurable? I understand that bone loss and gum recession (results of the disease) are irreversible but if the disease (symptoms gone) is halted by appropiate treatment, and best oral hygiene continues thereafter, does it mean it is cured? I get all sorts of mixed answers from dentists. I am thinking if peri-implantitis can be treated successfully and save the implant, it would be defined as 'cured', so does that not apply to natural teeth as well? I would really love to hear your opinion as I know I can trust your expertise on this. Thanks so much.
