- From PlayStation announcing they'll be at TGS to Xbox teases about Activision games finally coming to Xbox game pass the PlayStation News and Xbox News today seems great. However, they both come with caveats as both PlayStaion and Xbox also had projects canceled and Xbox had layoffs announced. Here's the mixed bag of news from these two leaders in the gaming space.

'Singularity' should have been a franchise. So good! Hope they find a team to remake/remaster it.
I enjoyed the hell out of it. Reminded me of Soul Reaver with the shifting realities. Singluarity being time, while Soul Reaver was an alternate plane.
I loved Singularity. I made a review for Singularity and I even managed to interview a developer who worked on it. I really hope that Raven Software gets to make more.

I'm sorry Destin, love your channel, but maybe get off the soapbox about the layoffs at Microsoft when you wont talk (or not allowed to talk) about the layoffs that happened at IGN after they bought out their competition.
I hate layoffs too, but it seems drastically hypocritical of you to say that. And i remember a live stream you did a week or so ago when someone superchatted and you cut of reading it after you said IGN and said you're not gonna talk about it.
Truth. the IGN deal has serious consequences on the entire gaming industry.

I like digital games, but there are things that I don’t like about digital games that I don’t like. Namely censorship. If a developer decides to censor a game after release and you don’t want your game censored, you don’t have a choice. Which is bizarre. And I’m concerned if they take servers down then you can lose your games. So hopefully they make these aspects better.

I don't know why people keep thinking a PS5 Pro is unnecessary, because all gaming machines are "unnecessary". So what's wrong with a machine that can give you a better gaming experience? Though, I think they missed an opportunity with the rumors suggesting the CPU will remain largely the same. An upgraded CPU along with the GPU would have potentially allowed all games to run at 60fps or higher. It's likely that they didn't want the console to be too powerful due to price and also potentially making a future PS6 less exciting. But a Pro console would have just given another choice for customers that want it.

This generation does not need a PS5 pro, it just seems unnecessary and obligatory.
What can it really add that makes it SO much more obviously better. Not talking specs that the lay person or casual gamer is truly going to understand.

I agree completely. Every generation I would get hyped for the "pro" version but this generation I just don't see the point.
We need more powerful consoles already because Unreal Engine 5 games run like ass, there are the few exceptions.

I love Singularity. But if memory serves Destin, you hated it at launch. Back during the ScrewAttack days I remember you giving it a 4.5/10 and said that it's only with buying new to get a free copy of Prototype.

They need to focus on keeping their platform afloat at this point. 1M sells for a game being touted as a 3rd party exclusive on a platform that has supposedly sold 60M ain't a good look for their shareholders

Does anybody know if it’s worth $20 a month to sign up for Ubisoft plus subscription service? I already have game pass ultimate, so I don’t know if another $20 a month is worth paying for Ubisoft

just look up what games they have on the service. sign up for just one month. and pay 20 bux to play the 3 or 4 games you really want to play. then cancel. kinda like paying a month for hulu to binge watch a show or two, then cancel.

Thats why DO NOT ACCEPT THE ALL DIGITAL FUTURE!!! During the down time of xbox service i was playing sekiro, i own the physical disk. I was happy to go back and remember as to how much i sucked. Turns out im a beast.

there has been a lot of guessing with the Pro. no one is sure if it's dropping with the hardware PSSR solution. people are claiming it is, but Sony only recently actually pushed the patent out for it, so it's hard to think the hardware would be ready in such a small timeframe. and how much work is required for devs to support ANOTHER frame generation solution. when software frame generation is out already and finally looking pretty decent on consoles (AMD's FSR).
then there was claims the Pro dev kits were being sent out in November last year, then another claim they were being sent out a couple of months ago, while in the meantime, the only photos of any devkits out in the wild are of a new Xbox devkit in South Korea.
the misinformation has been insane on the Pro console.

I hear Prototype & Singularity mentioned together often & in BC talks. Prototype 1 & 2 actually saw a XB1 release. Singularity would need to be added to backwards compat.
I think they'll drop old cod games on gamepass when they announce the beta weekend's for the new cod game

@teddyholiday8038 he literally isn't. Game companies are cutting corners and not bothering to do proper optimizing and proper file compression. That's not the dev's fault necessarily, but managers pushing to get the games out without spending money on QA (testing, bugs, etc) and compression (since they don't need to put files on discs, they're just installed anyway). That's how you get up with 200-300gb games.

I think the reason why it’s taking awhile for activation games to come to game pass is that Microsoft is probably gonna release windows store versions which have to support cross save and cross play with the Xbox versions.
reading recently that Game Pass actually uses a different platform (Windows UWP) to the games that you own running on the console. some games may need rework to run on Game Pass.
the backcompat team was reformed after the acquisition. Here's hoping for upgrades.

The 1st Descendant has better frames on Series S than PS5 😂
Not surprising when the Series S has features and RDNA 2 integration unlike the Ps5.

The price of convenience. We can't argue that needing 20 physical disks is better than having all of your games in one place until licenses are pulled or internet goes out, which neither happen that often to people who afford high end consoles.
I wish we could have both, but the consumer has spoken. Most people unfortunately don't seem to care.

@@305backup hi, like many people, by 100% digital games. I don’t even buy physical movies anymore, just stream them on streaming services. That’s just the way the future is anymore.
@@Johnny_Ohio that's kind of what I was referring to, I also buy a lot of digital games. It's just too convenient. They make no clutter or take of no physical space in the house, they can't get damaged, scratched or lost and most physical games these days need updates or some additions installation of content anyways. Physical media should go away, but digital is too convenient for people to stop buying just to make a point.
The only thing the digital future needs is laws to protect it.
It's easier all around digitally.

Put down the smoke... game sold more than 12 million copies in 2 months... and the game generated 666 million revenue in 5 days.
Pc is the clear winner in all this Xbox and Playstation games on PC and PC only games free multi player plus Emulators to play older consoles PC for the win
Who cares about PC? Console gaming is much better for most people.

@@DARKZONE-ul2mx I've been on PC for a long time but youre both right, they trade punches and console is still very usable. Were seeing a rise in new games demanding they monitor our browsing activities when the game is closed which *hell no*, and playing those games offline on a console is far better than on my PC which it could grab much more compromising things that I need to live my life. If the console makers cant protect our private details I give no trust to these game companies.

I'm kind of on the fence about the "drip feeding" of Activision backlog games. I'm not a fan of one or two games a month dropping, but four or five games? I can get behind.
I wonder what the release amount will be if this report is accurate. 🤔
I thought the feed dripping was gonna be for the COD games. Cause they have multiplayer and those titles would benefit from not having all of them drop at once.
But for every title dropping maybe a handful at a time? Not a huge fan of that.
It make more sense than Bethesda putting in all their games at once. Games get more attention if they are only a few of them per month.
Drip feeding makes sense.
i read recently that there is sometimes port work required to put games on Windows UWP platform for Game Pass. the games you own on the console run a different platform. it's seems a weird way to have their ecosystem set up but it may have something to do with GP being on PC as well.

Now see... *THAT* would make perfect sense. The time it would take to get all of the games running on their Xbox Launcher on PC would make this wait make so much sense. It would make it doubly appealing for the Xbox players who also have PC. Because those are the ones most likely to use the Xbox Launcher over Steam, like I do. Particularly when buying a copy of a game on Xbox automatically grants you a second copy for PC and vice-versa.
I finally moved on and bought me a gaming PC. I'll continue subscribed to gamepass and will eventually buy those PS exclusives when they launch on PC. No console for me this gen.
Ooo gamepass PC 😬 Friendly warning, with PC Gamepass theres a very likely chance theyll lock the game files, so if you wanted better controller support by running it through steam as a non-steam game then it wont work or launch if locked. Also if you wanted to play Flight Sim and add mods then the folder to do so is locked so cant add anything to it. Happened to me which ticked me off, it was actually worse cause I payed for some games years before I got PC GP, and once I got it even those bought files were locked, after my subscription ended the lock remained so Im screwed to this day till I get a new PC. Support couldn't fix it either and wouldnt let me have a refund for FS 2020 which couldnt use the mods I needed to test.
Last tip, Definitely check out GOG, may not have the fit and finish of Steam but theres lotta great games and indies there (some even steam doesnt have listed anymore), even sony games like god of war 2018 and Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition. I even got Psychonauts 1 and 2 there, being DRM free and having the ability to burn an offline installer to a disc if you want is imo a very sweet deal.
What games will Sony show Lego. SONY begging people to buy their games. Minecraft (Xbox game) is the only game that sells on PS 5.
