The Xbox Gamescom 2024 hype has already begun as they are teasing, not only some massive titles at the event, but also that Blizzard will be at Gamescom 2024. Here's what we know. 2023 - Xbox has announced that they're going to have a massive presence at Gamescom 2023. The Xbox Gamescom 2023 booth promises to be the largest ever made and they'll have games like Starfield, Forza, Armored Core VI, and more on display at their booth for people to experience. The big Xbox news today is that Starfield will not be hands-on but I actually think that's the smart move.

@@Blasko86 IIRC, Microsoft aren't contractually allowed to add prior Call of Duty titles to Game Pass until sometime in 2025, only new releases. Hence why we're seeing marketing for Black Ops 6 coming to Game Pass before any of the classic titles
There's also a bunch of Xbox/Xbox360 Activision games that are currently not part of the backward compatible catalog that could be added one day. Including a few no-brainers like Quake 4 and Wolfenstein now that they own Activision and iD Software via Bethesda.

I love how Microsoft still tries to create the E3 vibe every year. I really hope the upcoming games will be memorable experiences that will finally define the generation, especially for Xbox considering the Xbox One generation didn't really have any generation defining games that created an imagine of what Xbox is. If you didn't notice, I just watched the 9th generation console video of you and man do I hope Xbox finally makes their brand and console feel special again.

Perhaps both companies are afraid that their presentations will be overshadowed by Xbox. There's no denying that Xbox has much more to show right now, whereas Sony, for instance, only has AstroBot and titles like Black Myth, which are not true exclusives.

@@TheBigTone100 PS does infact have games. They’ve released a lot more exclusives this year even compared to Xbox’s one game which was Hellblade 2 and 5 hours long. And it is actually the complete opposite the Xbox series consoles are a complete failure and if it wasn’t for MS endless bank roll the plug would have been pulled along time ago. I will say Xbox finally has some decent titles lined up though which they haven’t had since the 360 days. Problem is Xbox studios almost always deliver letdowns especially the coalition and 343

I've been gaming on xbox the past 10 years. Everything's been great for me lol I couldnt care less for what other companies do. I have gamepass and its great for me and my family. Kids can play plenty of titles and i get many new and old games as well...
Sony not attending is a mistake. I understand they want to do their own thing but Gamescon is a way to interact with your community. It's a way of saying 'we love ad care about our community' they need something for people to look forward to.
Imagine being more hyped by a trailer than the actual movie. I mean, something might look good on a Gamescom show. Than you get the game. You play it a little. Few minutes later you say ''What garbage is that'' You delete the game. You ask refund me XBOX. In clear terms : I look beyond the hype. I look at the game when the fireworks have departed. Therefore, I can look at things for what they truly are.
All I care about is what they're going to announce for Fallout 76. They already showed Avowed. How much of the game do they want to spoil ?

Xbox is also cheaper overall. You are literally spending more money to play games on PlayStation, and Sony's business practices have for the longest time been very anti-consumer.
PlayStation had a good run with the PS1, PS2 and PS4. I'm not a Sony hater. They just absolutely suck these days. They bring out maybe 1 exclusive game a year worth playing. On a good year, maybe 2 games.

That's how E3 died (from a support pov) Nintendo dropped, then Sony dropped, but MS tried to hold on a couple of years more before giving in, all the major publishers started dropping during all of that and it was dead.
If this is going to be a blizzcon replacement for Blizzard, then they may show a lot of stuff.
Gamescom is going to be epic this year with Xbox at the show unfortunately PlayStation and Nintendo are skipping out let's just be honest overconfidence in your brand could be your biggest downfall if you don't attend public events and interact with your fan base.

When I saw Concord and thought it was similar to Guardians of the Galaxy I got excited! Then I saw that the game was like Overwatch… and now I’m zero percent interested in the game.

Gamescom is less about announcements and more about getting hands on with upcoming projects, at least for the bigger companies. Not saying big announcements don't happen but as Destin was saying this is where people got to try starfield for the first time.

No, they recently announced a new Series X with disc drive.
Also Xbox always talks about game preservation etc. I'd expect the next gen to have a disc drive too. The gen after that though, well who knows. It could all be digital by then. But thats like 8 - 10 years from now

PSA: they wont be announcing anything at gamescom that they didnt already announce at their own conference. There will be NO new hardware or games.
Xbox should double or triple their show, they can make a weekly showcase if they want just to catch up with their hardware and software sales.
Just waiting on fanboy comments that SONY are hosting a 'super secret showcase, don't tell mom', where they'll be revealing over 100 AAAAA single player and CoD beater exclusives as well as PS branded hoverboards, holodecks and how their parents will love them again after the super-duper secret (SERIOUSLY, DON'T TELL MOM!) showcase. I don't know what Playstation is doing with Concord. Everyone is tired of hero-pvp-shooters and they still ask for money for it when there are such games like Overwatch, Valorant, Apex that are free to play. For me personally 1 min trailer of Frag Punk looks 10 times more fun and stylish than Concord. I'd be happy to be wrong, but it looks like Concord is doa.

Xbox has made so many bad gaming decision over the last few years that I no longer care what they have to offer.
Destiny, they've started to talk again. I think Xbox needs to stop talking, honestly. Due to the studio closures, it's the quietest Xbox has been. And because of that silence, I was very surprised and impressed with the showcase without predetermined expectations. Now, they did well in the showcase, but they're talking too much. Let your showcase marinate and season a little. As a consumer, I like Xbox and what they offer, but please stop talking.
What studio closures exactly? Be specific. People keep talking about studio closures, like they shut down massive studios that were doing well.
They are talking because they need to. I'm tired of this nonsense and double standard Microsoft XBox is being held to. Sony has done the same thing, given the same excuses and did microsoft one better by having a party the day before announcing they were shutting them down. Yet, we are constantly being bombarded with Xbox studio closures.
