Thanks again for posting. Getting pumped for another trip to the big town. City bikes are GREAT. 24.00$ for 72hr . Ride up 1st ave and down 2nd through this neighborhood. Very proud of my daughter who was excepted to FIT business school.
Your videos are really good. Just something special about them. Perhaps the way they are shot make them so interesting. They really capture the essence of each NYC neighborhood. I also like the one shot in the South Bronx. Also execllent. I left Manhattan for Florida almost 30 years ago (hate cold Winters) but they make me miss it at times.
Kips Bay is an old part of NYC. Peter Cooper who designed and built the first American steam locomotive, the Tom Thumb, and founded the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, lived on the corner of 28th Street and Park Avenue South (where McDonald's is). I n 1821, Cooper purchased a glue factory on Sunfish Pond (then located at Park Avenue South and East 31st Street.) for $2,000 (about $40,000 in today's money), In their 28th Street home, his wife experimented with the gelatin derived from the bones used to make glue, and she came up with a flavored powder which later became Jello-O.
