- good and bad example of si carb IDLE JET setting: another carb healthy SOUNDcheck:
polini 186 setups:
1) si25, BIGbox sport: 1,8 idle, 148 main jet
2) si24, sip road v2 box: idle 2,9, main 128
the result:
1) rev immediatly comes down2 normal rev after heavy engine load / full throttle
2) gets stuck at high rev, needs long to come down to normal idle rev.
the result:
1) get out of the city and just hit it hard with no mercy ;)
2) in the city: just stay in the 2nd gear with high rev/speed but only small slide opening = idle jet area, where it is most important
then see how fast it comes down to normal idle
ir needs to come down immediatly
everything else is too lean
sure, its rideable, u get from a to b, BUT its not 100% sustainable well set. engine will definitely die in extremer Situations as city cruising = hill curving outside the city, up and down + slide open, closed, little opened. thats where it hits in if it in fact well set or not ;)
most of the home tuned, diy tuned vespas are wromgly set. u can here that clearlly.

In the wrong set of idle jet. Is it to much or to little turn??
too little turns and perhaps wrong jet ie 2,9 instewd of 2,7
I have this wierd thing with my smallframe, whenever I'm riding and while I pull in the clutch at high speed the revs go up like an air leak but when I'm in neutral and rev it up the rpms just go down normal, what's the problem ? Lean idle jet ?
sorry, never touched a smallfram. absolutely no experience.
@@FreakMoPed8 should be the same principle in setting up a carb
@@FreakMoPed8 update: fixed it by loosening the throttle cable.
I've got the same silver PX here in Australia, cleaned rebuilt carb, ordered new float, needle, filter, air filter with predrilled holes, gaskets from SIP. Have problem bogging in 3rd gear like no fuel or too much fuel, didn't touch timing or anything else, any advice mate?
ignition healthy and no oilsucker problem?
@@FreakMoPed8 Thanx for reply Mista, need to get fly puller and strobe to check timing I guess. de-coked head and there is carbon/soot over 1 half top of barrel. btw, what spark plug do you recommend for the 200 motor in OZ climate sea level?
Sry not experienced with sea level. i always use 8 plugs for tuning, thats it.
@@mickeybowmeister1944 9 in summer, 8 in winter, thats what we use in WA.
when I close the throttle at medium speed, my exhaust pops
How we can know if the idle jet is too rich?
Doesnt rev properly, hard to ride
2lean... What does it means?
And how many turn out mixture screw when it closed? (For my PX 150E Oginal.. i want it ride smooth in highway at rev high ). Thanks
Original original 2 turns out & done.
@@FreakMoPed8 Thanks 👍✌️
Hi. I have a 172cc T5 with a SIP performance NT pipe. I have the idle screw turned out to 3.5 turns to have it idling nice as per your other video. Is this too much or should I be looking at a bigger idle jet?
as long as engines reacts and screw doesnr fall out ur good to go
