Yea, I think a lot of people underestimate the importance of competition. I myself fell into that trap because I wanted all my favorite talents to be in the same company. And an alternative is the best for that.
Here's an interesting thought: there has been multiple points where Tony Khan has stepped up and taken more control, although it is unknown precisely how much he has done so. He may be forced to actually start being people's boss while being a decent enough friend to the entire roster, and I'm not sure Tony could pull it off (it's a very hard task).
I really like AEW and I think that a viable alternative to wwe is vital for the wrestling business even with Vince gone, and being someone who is a fan these scandal’s especially the most recent really frustrate me, and I feel they greatly take away and damage the company at a time where they really need to not be damaged.
The premise of AEW being a company owned and operate by a complete outsider to the wrestling business is probably one red flag to AEW. Not to say Tony Khan is the bad guy for giving an opportunity and sticking to a solid first-step to starting a major WWE competitor. The 3 years of AEW were magnificent. However, you do start to see a major change once CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, and other former WWE guys suddenly coming in and taking up TV-time on Dynamite. AEW was homegrowing loads of wrestlers that we were ready to see take to the stratosphere, and had legends like Christian Cage, Matt Hardy, Jericho & Taz act as faction leaders almost in a passing-of-the-torch sort of way to get these guys over But the problems kept growing, and Tony Khan is now starting to make the same mistakes WCW made before him. Taking in formed WWE wrestlers for higher pay than your originals. Giving them all of the TV-time on Dynamite. And still not letting the women's division flourish (nor tag division if the Young Bucks aren't in the main event). Now AEW has what feels like a saturation of talent, and there's still no news on when and if Khan got a TV deal set for Ring of Honor to help mitigate that.
Honestly a lot of the problems of AEW are like WCW. He decided to buy up all of the ex-WWE guys. That's what happens when you buy sloppy seconds. The other problem is the ex-WWE guys want to come in and be a main event in the main. That's the issue - they can't all be main event. Finally, their roster was positive and full of either initial or homegrown talent who were all on fire and awesome, and we were getting to see an actual alternative. However, you let people like Punk, known to be negative backstage, in, then you take the consequences. To be honest some of their biggest stars are ex-WWE guys but the problem was when the AEW roster was establishing itself, ex-WWE guys came in and took their spots without earning them.

I always wanted to know Kylie Rae quit. She was the first major "release" of AEW within a few months of its existence, with some thinking she wasn't ready for major promotions yet...only for her to show up on Impact months later
That's bad as well but you can chalk that up to spot they shouldn't have done. Not only was the Matt Hardy spot something they shouldn't have done, not only did they not stop the match, they did it so they could do one more spot of Matt and Sammy falling off another structure. That was dangerous and just imagine what would've happened if Matt's injury and condition was actually worse.
The Impact partnership was a real missed opportunity for AEW when it came to dream matches outside of Omega and Private Party, plus AEW's women's division would've been slightly better if they had the chance to interact with the Knockouts Division

@@unstablebrother I mean …..is he wrong Like if you ask me right now the only female megastar I would probably sauf rounda rousey and maybe Becky lynch
Jade is pretty much the only female AEW wrestler that looks and feels important. WWE has Becky, Bianca, Bayley, Ronda, Asuka, with Toxic Attraction comfortably sitting in NXT and waiting for their call-up. The depth difference of the AEW and WWE female rosters is just too big. And Tony is right, that CM Punk is a bigger draw than Thunder Rosa, but it's his fault that the difference is that huge. If he gave the girls screen time to develop their stories and relationships, it would allow them to actually build feuds. Except for Britt, Rosa's matches were just randomly thrown girls based on ranking system and their whole buildup to the PPV match were usually like 15-20 minutes of interviews and video packages.
The Speak Out Movement was a point during the COVID-19/Pandemic lock down, which revealed many wrestlers/promotion employees committing awful acts to people personally or through Social Media contact. Man, that really shook me. 😨

On the Thunder Rosa sandbagging thing, is it not possible that this is just her making mistakes? She's not been wrestling for as many years as some of the others. I can't say for sure as I'm not a trained wrestler, but could a timing issue be to blame instead of a professionalism issue. Someone with some actual experience weigh in?
And if it’s from inexperience she could just apologize for slip ups it is after all not ballet but if she does it and not apologize or learn from it. It is kinda her fault if she thinks she’s not the problem
The whole Eddie Kingston and Sammy feud is ridiculous, how someone like Kingston who preaches about being real is so offended by being called fat by a heel in a promo (to hype their bad blood), it doesn’t undermine the feud whatsoever it actually plays to each characters strengths, seems like Kingston has some issues with his own body he needs to sort out before he comes at others especially as many of Kingstons promos can be seen as undermining feuds
idk man, i think he was just waiting for absolutley any opportunity to have a reason to deck Sammy. I can't blame him tho. I'd deck Sammy too for so much as looking at my hamster funny.
Nah I think your comment on Tony kahn being accused of firing someone because of race are way out of line. Racism is unacceptable. But false accusations of such are equally unacceptable. Things like that being thrown around can ruin lives and reputations and while maybe he could have handled it better expecting him to stay quiet and take those disgusting accusations just so a discussion around diversity can be had is ridiculous. I understand its the most socially acceptable thing to say if you dont want your channel to get cancelled but nah that's nonsense.
While this is a great list, 17 entries tells me you were willing to go above 10 to fill this list out. So how did the Nick Gage/Dominos incident get left out? Lol
The Khan/Swole incident was ridiculous at the time. Swole had legit concerns about tv time for black wrestlers. What was even more so ridiculous though was the AEW fanbase responding to Swole with a slew of racial epithets and folks going on Twitter to places she was scheduled to wrestle and bombarding them with hate. She wasn't booked for many of those promotions afterwards, so I guess the fanbase derailed her career.
@@hdgames5689 Not quite as I've wondered about the same thing. So yeah. Not that simple.
Scandal or not I haven’t been more invested in wrestling since the attitude era/ruthless aggression times. AEW is a fresh much needed not PG friendly addition to wrestling. I feel a lot of these “scandals” definitely were more frequent back then but nowadays is more in the public eye with twitter and leaks.
The funny thing about Sammy getting suspended for the r*pe line, technically he was only suspended for 2 weeks cuz I remember they were taping 2 weeks of TV at a time and just missed the one taping
In all perfect honesty, looking at this latest incident made me kind of change my mind on something, and that's CM Punk. In my head I always had him as this wrestling fan living out his dream that was burned by the company (WWE) he thought would make him happy. Now? I think he's just one of those guys who only cares about himself being the top dog above all others. He is this generation's 90's Shawn Michaels, athletically talented, but just a jerk who cares only about himself. I hope he gets his attitude together, because this kind of stuff lasts.
I don’t think the Thunder Rosa entry is fair especially as high up as it is since that’s all speculation and not confirmed. Just my opinion anyway. 🤷🏼♂️
They were really reaching with a LOT of these. The only way that prick Willie Urbina would have been a "scandal" would have been if the company HADN'T done exactly what they did and fired him on the spot.
Late 90's and 2000's WCW vibe is clearly visible in AEW now. Naming your wrestlers as EVP's is bad enough and Tony has clearly lost the control of his company. He has to get rid of toxic members in the locker room, trim down the bloated roster and start fresh again or they are going to be bought by WWE very soon
You're almost spot on. Where I disagree is that I believe the Khan's are ready to keep the corpse afloat with an endless stream of money. But yeah, definitely get rid of the Bucks and Omega, especially in an EVP role. The fact they already "leaked" bs stories to their "journalist" friends is the final nail in the coffin, if you ask me. Maybe stick them into RoH, but keep them far from the AEW brand. Bad enough already that tens of thousands of people switch the channel as soon as they're featured. Then get rid of about 50% of the roster, at least for tv. The amount of untrained people featured in main line programming make AEW look low rent. Just keep the indie bs to the UA-cam shows and maybe RoH. That crap doesn't draw money. It only caters to a hardcore crowd that would watch anything anyways. Tony needs to appeal to the oldschool fans that had been turned off during the last 15 years by scripted promos, laughable matches and kayfabe-shattering acts if he doesn't want AEW to keep stagnating.
15:58 that's not why Punk got mad at Page. He got mad because in an interview Page said that he doesn't listen to veterans advice because he feels he's above that for helping create AEW. Which is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard in all my time as wrestling fan.
The funny part is that road dogg said cm punk never listened to him or Billy gunn with punk was younger in WWE and had to work with the new age outlaws.
@@Laticia1990 They are the new age outlaws. This is CM Punk (and many others in AEW). One was way more over and successful than the other. And one didn't need DX to do it. After all that's happened this year let alone after the All Out press conference, I just feel like I'm watching Dynamite and Rampage because its Wednesday/Friday and it's wrestling so I gotta watch it. I realized that I have to find alternatives to AEW which was supposed to be THE alternative not saying the shows(mainly Dynamite) are bad now but, with all the backstage stuff going on it's really hindering my enjoyment.😞
Don't pay attention to the background stuff. I can't name a promotion that hasn't had issues. From Japanese ones, to ones on the internet, ROH, impact, wwe…
Become disenchanted? Nah. I was disenchanted with AEW from the start. Saying they're going to be an alternative to WWE, but just being an alternate WWE. "Oh. We're going to have a serious, sports based approach. Just ignore the dude with his hands in his pockets that kicks people in the shin. Who would get destroyed if this was to be taken seriously. Also we have Joey Janella, Marko Stunt and Sonny Kiss."
"This resulted in the battle royal going awry with Priestly beating Gibs with a kick before audibly yelling STUPID! STUPID! Like a 2010 Randy Orton." I'm sorry but that had me dying lmao
To be fair, a lot of these issues are fairly minor (one of those issues was someone's wife going off on Twitter), and many companies/groups have these things that kinda go under the radar (but would be put in a list like this if their industry had at least three major UA-cam channels dedicated to documenting them in a single list). I don't know if they would have 17 of them in 3 years if they were the size of AEW, but...
I'm ngl Gresham is fantastic but to say he was booked poorly is on him too, he doesnt have a speck of charisma in his body. he's just a guy who can wrestle that's it
This is what happens when you don’t script wrestlers. They start shooting on each other for real and things get out of hand. Definitely don’t go full Vince WWE scripting but there has to be a happy medium.

I popped at the Suzuki bit, good one. I really hope they can settle things out and we have solid world of wrestling between AEW and HHH
Those comments on Thunder Rosa have aged very poorly given the fact that it's come out that she was very much in a very bad mental state when she dropped the belt, admittedly BECAUSE of the rumor mill coming at her like she was dealing with at the time and even in this list.
I reckon the addition of CM Punk and too many ex-WWE wrestlers to the AEW roster probably the biggest downside. Did we really need Malakai, Miro, Claudio, Murphy, Mark Henry, Big Show, Matt & Jeff, Shawn Spears, Vicky, Andrade. Use their salary to give the legacy OG roster a pay bump. There are some exceptions in my mind who did add value though: Bryan, Cole, Jericho, Mox, Pac, FTR, Sting, It’s a tough one… but bottom line, CM Punk is toxic.
That's something Tony Khan has to deal with. Both sides are in the wrong but who does he side with? The Unprofessional EVP'S who are responsible for the start of AEW? Or AEW's biggest star responsible for their first Multi Million dollar PPV buy rate and their most steady claim of over 1,000,000 viewers on TV?

Tony Khan was just responding to Big Swole. Swole was the one trying to make it look like AEW didn't want her because she was black, TK had to make her face reality that she just wasn't that good instead of taking the slander at face value
Right. It would have looked terrible if Tony said nothing. Instead he gave her a reality check and a big ol FU for even suggesting that her skin color had anything to do with her contract not being renewed.
Yet it was and is unprofessional, the women are an after thought, and ever since her comments the black side of the roster have been given more time. She pointed out issues that either remain or got fixed afterwards
It is the same people who have been non stop rooting for its downfall since it first started. Meanwhile the weeks following have been consistent great ratings and peaking 1 mil viewers each week as of this comment. It is always one of the highest viewed shows on TV on Wednesdays and despite clickbait bs online, there really is no sane reason why TBS/TNT would care to not pick up a new TV contract with them once this one expires.
There need to be consequences, though. Omega and the Bucks should be thrown out the company, Punk at least put on ice right now until they need his draw. And Tony has to man up or delegate the business decisions to someone who dosn't try to be friends with everyone before the inmates run his asylum into the ground.

I always wanted to know Kylie Rae quit. She was the first major "release" of AEW within a few months of its existence, with some thinking she wasn't ready for major promotions yet...only for her to show up on Impact months later
After seeing the Hardy Guevara match, I’m surprised to not see the Shawn Spears chair shot to Cody Rhodes on this list.
And 17 of them are from all out press release
I did not expect to see Travis’s artwork from “Cornette’s Drive-thru” in this video
I love his art. It's so simple but captures the likeness of everyone beautifully.
"Plumber Moxley"
AEW feels like what WWF would have been during the 90s and early 00s if social media was around.
The Impact partnership was a real missed opportunity for AEW when it came to dream matches outside of Omega and Private Party, plus AEW's women's division would've been slightly better if they had the chance to interact with the Knockouts Division
Remember when they were gonna bring in Brian Kendrick and Twitter freaked out, so they canceled his appearance?
Rightly so
If "Twitter" is against something you probably should pull through anyways.
Especially in the wrestling business.
A lot of these suspensions are to short, especially for some of the things stated, and especially for those who reoffend, like Guevara was on this list three times. A month isnt enough which just shows as people just keep making these same mistakes
Like damn when hogan said the N word Wwe tried to erase him from existence 😂😂😂😂
I would've fired Sammy for making that comment, sensitivity training be damned....YOU DON'T MAKE THOSE COMMENTS....*E V E R*

@@painvillegaming4119 it's looks bad because it's his job to make them stars.

Hopefully we will hear something this week about Jeff hardy. If he went to a 90 day treatment he should get done this week.

7:45 calling it a great match is a stretch the young bucks effectively wrestled themselves the entire match while Jeff fumbled around and his boots falling apart and Matt bless his heart couldn't keep up with the bucks
Yeah if somebody could answer him that would be good meanwhile I would be here to learn how to not sandbag as a inspiring pro wrestler
It's possible she was working through injury and it affected her performance.
And if it’s from inexperience she could just apologize for slip ups it is after all not ballet but if she does it and not apologize or learn from it. It is kinda her fault if she thinks she’s not the problem
why was it necessary to bring up that Julia was 19 when talking about the Max Caster rap?
Bro because it’s weird

The Mean Girls reference at the beginning 👏🏼👏🏼
The Khan/Swole incident was ridiculous at the time. Swole had legit concerns about tv time for black wrestlers. What was even more so ridiculous though was the AEW fanbase responding to Swole with a slew of racial epithets and folks going on Twitter to places she was scheduled to wrestle and bombarding them with hate. She wasn't booked for many of those promotions afterwards, so I guess the fanbase derailed her career.

I hope he gets his attitude together, because this kind of stuff lasts.
if you have a problem with everyone, then everyone isn't the problem. Phil better learn this soon

The difference is that he has no backstage power to use in malicious ways like HBK did. The Bucks and Omega on the other hand....
@@oelboy thank you everyone's blaming punk

Hikaru Shida is still my favorite women's champ so far.
Nope. Hangman started it all. Punk didn’t have to retaliate but none of this happens without Hangman going into business for himself.
Nope.
There are some exceptions in my mind who did add value though: Bryan, Cole, Jericho, Mox, Pac, FTR, Sting,
It’s a tough one… but bottom line, CM Punk is toxic.
That's something Tony Khan has to deal with. Both sides are in the wrong but who does he side with? The Unprofessional EVP'S who are responsible for the start of AEW?
