      It's cause they overcomplicate it. It doesn't need to be a chess game where you have 100 pieces that all gotta line up properly. Just notice when superstars get over, usually cause of the stuff YOU'RE booking them in will get them over accidentally, and reward that instead of punishing a superstar for getting popular. Instead of giving Rusev a big pushed he went on a losing streak. They tried to halt Daniel Bryan at every chance. Refused to do anything with Roman we wanted. Also wanna point out WWE just proves us right time and time again. Once they gave us heel Roman, pushed Becky and pushed Cesaro we started backing them more and being interested more. Same with Strowman and others.

    Asuka & Shinsuke winning their respective rumbles were awesome, but the payoff with them both losing their Wrestlemania titles matches completely derails the entire thing in hindsight. 2014 is almost even more unbelievable than 2015. 2015 you can at least make the argument that Bryan's unexpected return made them didn't want to change plans and while he should have done better in the match, maybe someone eliminating him could have generated a hot angle. 2014 though, the man was on fkn fire and had all the momentum in the world AND HE WASN'T EVEN IN THE MATCH

    • @viktormehandzhiyski7499
      @viktormehandzhiyski7499 2 роки тому +2

      Honestly, if Bryan isn't winning in 2014, just give it to Roman. He was picking up steam back then and it makes the SHIELD vs EVOLUTION angle even better for after Mania. Roman is pissed off he didn't get a 1-on-1 title shot, Randy says he's beaten Bryan 1 v 1 before, so it's Roman's fault he's not champion. Then the rest of the SHIELD and EVOLUTION get involved and you get the two 3 on 3 matches for the next 2 PPVs. Add Seth being jealous of Roman for maineventing Mania and it makes the eventual finish of WM 31 even better. But yeah, that stretch from 2011 to like 2017 had some subpar choices for the eventual winner.

      @mrcnub 2 роки тому +1

      Yeah no, 2001 was booked perfectly except for having Austin turn heel at Mania with Rock on his way to Hollywood. With Mania 17 being in Texas it made perfect sense for Austin to be in the main event as the crowd favorite challenger, and no opponent would generate as much hype and money as Rock. Kane was very over in 2001 and that would've been a good time to give him a title shot and even a run with the belt, but not at Mania. The Mania main event needs to be the big money match and Kane was just not on the same level as Rock and Austin.

I had spent a hefty chunk of change to be seated ringside that year in Philadelphia and after seeing Cena, Rollins and Lesnar tear the house down, had to spend an hour living with the trepidation and then the reality that Roman Reigns was going to win the Rumble. At least we got a good showing from Bray Wyatt and a shot of excitement from Daniel Bryan, but once he got thrown out it was just a slow,sad march to the inevitable. Christian should have won the 2011 Rumble. Nobody cared about Alberto Del Rio. Which proves that even more when he doesn't beat Edge for the belt at WM. Not only did we get robbed of an Edge vs Christian match where both guys were both seasoned and could put on a good match in their sleep, but Edge's first retirement match would have actually happened against his best friend. It would have been a great story.

A similar list was done by Cultaholic last year and they had a better alternative where Undertaker wins the '97 Rumble to face Vader in Wrestlemania 13. That would definitely have been a treat! I know people hated Reigns, and at the time I was a fan of his but totally understood the frustration. That being said, seeing Triple H not only win the damn thing but destroy prime competitors like Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler on his way to doing so was the perfect encapsulation for everything that's wrong with WWE for the past decade. Favoring old guys over the young stars trying to create their own legacies. Which is why I have never been able to watch that match again. Not a single time.

But if they went with Ambrose and gave him Lesnar at Mania for the title, that's be so much more exciting. Then again, we're talking about WWE - the right-wing wrestling, where the young stars are buried left and right. It's actually the main reason why I stopped watching WWE and I'm cheering for AEW, cause even at this point they are way more interested in doing great wrestling.

    I, personally, would love to see a Royal Rumble where an unexpected winner happens. Not like a lower or mid-carder who would just go on to get squashed at Mania, but someone who has the natural ability to main event the big one, who just hasn’t been booked anywhere near the main event and create an instant mega-star. That winner doesn’t necessarily have to win the big one at Mania or even be the last match on the card, but it would create a moment and WWE puts bigger emphasis on moments over having great matches. And a Rumble unexpectedly won by a Kevin Owens or a Ricochet or an Ali or a Bobby Roode (really name drop any mega-talented star here) would definitely create a moment. And win or lose at Mania would generate interest in an actual main event run for said individual. WWE had done unexpected booking in the past to great success. For example, Bret Hart was a mid-carder who was in the Intercontinental title picture for a while at the time and then he BEAT RIC goddamn FLAIR for WWF championship which launched him from a fan-favorite mid-carder to genuine main-eventer! A moment like that could make the Royal Rumble the most talked about moment for the rest of the year, but it is highly unlikely we will ever see anything like it. Also, I thoroughly enjoyed this list, Adam! Jam that jam!

    In other entries when they do let the newcomer win he complains the veteran should have won.
    This isn't 10 times the WWE got the Rumble wrong, it's 10 times the guy I wanted to win didn't win the Rumble and rather than just own that's all it is you come up with bs reasons to justify that you're just upset your favourite didn't win.

Of course it's CHYNA. All indications are that behind the scenes, there was a rocket with Ms. Laurer's name on it. So many firsts for women in the industry. Royal Rumble entrant, #1 Contender, King Of The Ring entrant. Winning the Rumble and headlining The Showcase Of The Immortals could've been 2 more accolades for the Ninth Wonder Of The World. Obviously she'd lose at Mania so she could go on to become legit #1 contender and win at Summerslam, the original plan.

    Seriously, the words "Before Hogan campaigned for him to win instead" will probably be chiselled into the mans f'ing tombstone.

    Alberto Del Rio surely should have made the list. Surely there were plenty of other options and not too sure Edge vs Del Rio was the best possible match they could’ve done for the world title that year at Mania. He didn’t even win the title

    So down for Finn and Liv winning this year’s rumbles… they both deserve it so much and it would lead to some great moments leading up to Wrestlemania & then great matches at Wrestlemania

    I'm actually glad that Bret vs hbk didn't happen in wm 13 cause if that match happened we wouldn't get the 5 star match between Bret and Austin

    there's more you'd have to change considering he was champion going into the PPV, but I think Jeff Hardy would've been a perfect choice to win the '09 rumble
