It's almost like the cutscenes were never finished and all they had were the storyboards.
Or it's just their choice of style and presentation this season.
Considering that the CGI cutscenes were mase by a studio owned by Square Enix, you arent far from the truth

Kudos to the team at IO for putting together such a great story, despite the loss of Square Enix. I hope this game has made them enough money for WB that we get animated cutscenes next game but these were still very effective.
Sadly, however, this game made 90% less money than Hitman: Absolution. Let's pray that they have enough money and resources to pull it off in the next sequel. 🙏🏻

Man IOI are really good at hinting the storyline of Hitman. In the final test. Security would mention Janus and the Soviet Union. This is one of many foreshadowing hints

So, without Square Enix, the cutscenes seemed to be degraded....I am not disappointed with those as it might be their choice to do so....In fact, the depth of the story is far more improved compared to 2016...
The cutscenes are a MASSIVE downgrade compared to HITMAN 2016.
@Nico Setiawan I don't think the budget is lower because the general consensus seems to be that the levels are richer in content and depth than Season 1 levels.
Its primarily to do with the fact that S1 cutscenes were produced and paid for by SE's proprietary engine which sadly they don't have access to in this game.

Square Enix is known for their amazing CGI (the company that basically pioneered it with FFVII back in the PS1 days) and 2016 really did look fantastic. I was expecting the cutscenes to not look as good now that IOI is going solo but not to just be stills

I think cutscenes and story telling took a big hit the first time in Hitman's history. Timelines dont really match, 47 changing sides like flipping a coin, countless retcons (which by itself reduces the impact of story anyways, it has no continous presence anymore). Sigh, i think they'll need to spend more budget on story next time. Season 1 was great despite few hickups in level design in mid season.
I mean, for the cut scenes, after their separation with Square, I'd doubt IO can spare that much for the budget considering they had to leave their publisher.
For the story however, I get what you mean It seems rather shakily built from an idea and grew into a mess.
If you ignore some of the content coming from the novels then there really isn't much that retcons.
Actualy story *telling* wise this was the best out of all Hitman games.

The only problem with this gameplay is the player keep killing innocent people..
Just a question. Why the fuck had to change the story??? It's clear now, it's a reboot. That's the fact. Lucas is not a clone. But why dont you can tell it clearly?? Say that it's a partly reboot or something!! And what about the five father? It has been non-canon storyline.
I think the Five Fathers are only fathers of 47, not the other clones. And btw, 6 is a clone too, just an earlier version and not from the 47 series like 47.
What's the point of being discret during missions if you kill everyone? I'm just finishing watching the "first mission" of this video and that's what I saw...
I guess they ran out of money to animate the cutscenes and tell a decent story smh.
