We've all been sleeping on Sleeping Dogs. I cannot believe this game wasn't a smash hit when it first came out in 2012. The Definitive Edition improves on the graphics, and add all the DLC's on one disc. Sleeping Dogs is, in our opinion, just as good if not better than GTA 5. Hong Kong feels alive and vibrant, and the story is an engrossing action packed crime drama. The world is huge, and there is a plenty of side missions, races and crime to keep you busy outside the main story.
The combat system is extremely deep for an open world game, very close to the Batman series. This game gets all the little things right; the sound of your engine roaring in a heart thumping car chase, or feel of impact from every punch. If you enjoy game movies, this is a MUST watch, especially if you like games like Grand Theft Auto and Watch Dogs. As always, we added relevant gameplay, dialogue and all cutscenes to create one fluid story. For this game, we added a good amount of fighting since it's important to the story and it's cinematic. It's brutal, bloody and unforgiving. We made sure to focus strictly on the main game although there are a lot more side stories be experienced. Enjoy! Make sure to like, comment and share!
On a cool trivia note, this game was originally True Crime: Hong Kong. For those of you who grew up on the Playstation 2 era, you'll remember the True Crime series fondly. If you ever wondered what happened to that series, this is it!

This is a game that truly deserved a sequel... and we almost got that sequel but sadly it never came to be. But I'm hoping we may get lucky and see Wei Shen again someday

Sleeping Dogs is so fucking awesome. It's like a combination of True Crime, The Warriors, Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row all wrapped into one game. Speaking of True Crime, this game was originally supposed to be the third entry in the True Crime series called True Crime: Hong Kong but the plans were cancelled and Square Enix took over and it was renamed to Sleeping Dogs. Just a little information in case you guys didn't know that.

As someone born in HK, let's just say British colonists treated Chinese like 2nd rate citizens for a LONG TIME. It wasn't until the 80s it gotten better, and soon they left altogether. It is not a surprise that a lot of older generations of Hong Kongers who do not like Westerners and referred to as "Gweilo" or 鬼佬, the term itself does have derogatory roots.

@Dakota Martin Because the Brits have played the bad guy for much of the recent centuries is why. Any modern problem in Asia, India, the Middle East, Europe, or America can be tied back to the British screwing around with people of other areas. Same with the French.
@@EmptyMan000 I'm Scottish and I can confirm that England is definitely the most hated country in the UK, mostly cause they've been dicks to Scotland, Wales and Ireland throughout history and English occupation was a big reason for Ireland splitting and if you look at an incident called the 'funeral murders' you can see it was definitely not a fun time to be Irish.

This is one of the best game that I have played recently. Everything on the game is perfect - The combact system, amazing story, characters, twists, reality, environment, side missions, characters ....Everything. What still troubles me is that why isn't the game popular as GTA or others. This has every right to be on the top lists !
Rajeel KP Yep. I believe it's a perfect game, and a otherwise perfect open world game as well. *FAR* better than *ANY* GTA game out there by a longshot! GTA is only more popular because it's been around since the '90's, like Call of Duty...

I like the relationship progress between Wei and Raymond.
I bought it 4 days ago, finished the history and all I can say is that this game is one of the best (if not the best, really) I've ever played. The plot, the social evolution between Raymond and Wei, the intensity of the game,etc, were perfect. It's a flawless game in my opinion.
Definitely worth to buy
Oh and Winston and Jackie were my fav characters. I love how they value Water Street Gang members as their bros and protect them, and their family. I was so sad to see them dying :'(

As a Cantonese speaker, this game is awkward but entertaining. It encapsulates prominent HK related movies , IA... rRush Hour. Most of all its fun to play. Money not wasted.
Could King be the same King from True Crime NYC(Marcus' dad)? Sleeping Dogs does belong to the franchise...

Great job editing all this together. My only complaint is dropping Stateless "Miles to Go" from the scene/player action towards the end where Wei Shen is driving to the final confrontation and ruminating about his mistakes. That's one case where the preset radio track works exceptionally well with the pathos of the story. Anyways, just a quibble. Great work!

A huge bummer that this game doesn't have a third story expansion where Wei Shen meets Nick Kang from True Crime series, that would be freaking awesome man.
Damn I loved this game; story was tight and the controls was lit as well. Ended up selling the disk to a friend; definitely gonna look into buying this game over again.

I had an idea for this a while ago too. I won't say too much, but I was thinking of 4 seasons with the wedding ending season 2 or 3. The story in this game is just full of dope shit that would be fucking amazing to see on tv.

Sleeping Dogs maybe has the overall best 'crime movie' story of any game...
I think GTA V or SA are better as 'crime/comedy sitcoms'.... or IV was a drama...
but for a more movie-esque focus and pacing, very Infernal Affairs/The Departed, what was done with Sleeping Dogs was pretty awesome
and I appreciate it's simplicity and awareness about what it is, its limits, what its viewers really want and need.... it don't try to be too epic, satirical, emotional.. just a basic likable crime-sex-violence story

I like this game a lot. This is not typical GTA where you kill everyone, this is something better and the story is much better.
When I beat the story mode, I would replay missions and purposely fail. For instance, ar club bam bam I punched the guard at the door. I just thought it was hilarious.
Man, busy af with work and school. Don't even have time for games, but after this semester is over, I might run through this shit one more time for good measure.
And I did it. Game is still the shit.
A lot of side stuff is missing, that in my opinion, enriched the main storyline and explained the jade stuff. However, I do appreciate this video as I never saw the end.
