This was in the new recently that there are plans to tear this massive complex down and use the land for recreational use. This is the reason i film these places. Once they're gone, they're gone.
I live in York County. They are supposed to be ripping down an old house ( built 1925 ) in a month or so. I videoed it and wheii did some strange things started happening. I had walked through the house a few times before that no problem. But once I started videoing, noises, crashing sounds and I am 100 per cent sure no one was there. When I did a play back of video, my phone gave a corrupted file. Hmmmm...
I realized i made a mistake about the baby flotation device. I now realize its for a bathtub. I don't need 50 comments correcting me on it haha. I just made that guess since it was in the pool room. Mistakes happen, I'm only human.

I agree on that the shame that people have to go and vandalize stuff for scrap stuff that's why the old Reid Hospital got torn down when I first had gone to explore the Reid Hospital back in 2014 it had some damage to it but there were a lot of rooms that look like the employees just clocked out turned off the lights and went home for the day and there was still names upon the dry erase boards about doctors that were on duty the last day and even instructions in one patient room they told the patient what they were doing that day and about three years later it look like a bomb had gone off because there was so much graffiti and broken glass before there was hardly a broken window in the place such a shame and now it's gone

It’s a shame that someone couldn’t renovate this into some kind of living quarters. Maybe an assisted living facility or something. The acreage would be nice to traverse and I am sure would provide a respite for those in need.
Fun fact.. The new air compressor at 18:00 was probably installed very near the moment of abandonment, and probably as a result of a fire code violation. Reason why, the fire sprinklers in this building appear to be the "dry type." The water is held back by an air valve (the larger of the two on the wall to the right of the compressor.) What that accomplishes is, instead of the sprinkler pipes being charged with water, they are instead empty and dry, charged with compressed air. When one of the sprinkler heads opens due to a fire, air will rush out, and the sudden drop in charge pressure will then trigger the water valve to open, fill the pipes, and water will begin spraying from the sprinkler. This serves two purposes, the first being a small leak somewhere in the fire sprinkler system will leak air, not spill water all over everything. The second, and most important function, is the pipes remain clean and dry, don't rust and corrode, and won't freeze in unheated areas.
It is so sad to see such a building in such a state. It makes my heart weep. The Fact that the residents made it work and were bettering themselves makes it that much more horrifying.

Could you imagine being one of the parents who dumped their child off at one of these places because they didn’t want the responsibility or were ashamed? Happened so often back in the day. I can’t imagine doing something so heartless.
sometimes the parents just couldn't provide a safe environment or control behavior that was harming themselves or others as they got more and more adult sized - I'm sure it broke their hearts either way - so they tried to find a medical facility they thought would nurture their loved one. I bet a lot of families got duped, thinking the facilities were going to give better care than they did. I assume the Northampton graffiti was about the MA state hospital which probably has a similar story
TheTechnofu I remember reading extensively about Pennhurst and how parents would drop their kids off because they were born with a disability and just didn’t want to deal with them. Not because they couldn’t financially tend to them or offer them a safe environment, but because they were ashamed. This coming from nurses that had worked there. So, I’m assuming that this happened at all these hospitals that cared for the mentally and physically disabled. I guess I just don’t understand how anyone could do that because it’s not in me to do something so cruel. 🤷♀️

I’m from NZ and Im so intrigued that there are so many abandoned buildings in your country especially homes . To sit to rot in the elements is mind blowing and to also see so many houses with househome items still inside . It’s crazy but I love watching your videos 👍👍
When I lived in Baltimore (back in 2008), some friends and I drove around the grounds of Rosewood. Rosewood was completely closed down and we went after dark. We experienced some paranormal activity while we were there. Unfortunately, we got caught by a security guard, so that ended our adventure. The guard told us there were tunnels underground. We didn't get in trouble, but we were asked to leave,
I'm a Maryland native and I've always been too afraid to explore Baltimore. Mostly because im very directionally challenged and unfamiliar places freak me out (yes even with gps). Although in my youth some friends and I went to explore Gettysburg at night and saw heard a ton of weird stuff. Although I think we were honestly freaking ourselves out.
@@debsmith9819 yeah it was super creepy. Fun experience looking back, but I'll never do it again. At least not at night. I've been back during the day when everything is open and still get freaked out
@@mascottie honestly just stereotypical "spooky stuff", whispering, catching a shadow move out of the corner of out eyes. Which is why I'm thinking we probably just freaked ourselves out. We did see someone there and heard a yell so we booked it. Probably a grounds keeper or something though. The whole place even during the day has a weird feeling. Being somewhere that has so much death in its history gave me bad vibes. Not sure why 17 year old me and my friends thought it was a good idea to go there at 2am.
Thank you for posting these and especially thanks for being respectful of the properties you folks visit! I have been fascinated, for a long time, with abandoned buildings such as the ones you explore. Sad to see the beautiful architecture and craftsmanship decaying. P.S. Just found you folks and enjoying these videos.
I’m addicted to your videos. I’ve only recently discovered your channel, but have been binge watching long after I should be asleep. Lol. This one is my favorite so far because I’m partial to these kinds of buildings. I’ve visited Central State Hospital in Millegville, GA. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go inside any of the buildings. You guys should totally check it out! The history is fascinating and sad. Thanks for all the awesome videos! Keep up the great work!
Love love love this video. Do you ever do research on places like this to find photos of what it was like when it was in use? Would be cool to see side by side photos of how it was and how it is now.
I typically do, but there wasn't a whole lot available. So i provided what info i can. Some of the abandoned resorts ive filmed and some upcoming videos i do show before photos.
I sub! And I am on the notifications. I also watch the whole commercials so you get revenue. I also just found your awesome merchandise and ordered a triblend hoodie. Thank you!
I'm an ARNP and I love a look back at old medical buildings. Thankfully there is you who bother to share with us your finds. I thank you for not making cruel comments about patients I've seen other videos that do. I'm subscribed, hit bell and love you..😳

I have to say that I just ran across your videos and I absolutely love them . I had lived in an apartment that had the Murphy bed they came by on the wall glass door knobs and an ironing board that came out on the wall and a slot in the kitchen where they would deliver blocks of ice . I absolutely love old buildings and I love your videos and I'm looking forward to watching more thank you
Hi there I really like your Videos and the way you narrate thru out. But as I am 72 years old, I am not sure about what I am doing so this is all you get from me.
Another awesome video, thank you Matt & Jess for showing you this beautiful site. Its so sad you guys were surrounded with pain, worry, unsure, death, the energies we're through out the complex,it's so sad to think about what went on behind those doors, and once again my friend you captured these beautiful but lost souls..Thank you..
Embreeville was a different type of hospital compared to Pennhurst which was a horrible facility a warehouse really for mentally challenged people. Love your videos!! Keep the coming💜
Those tunnels were huge. A lot of work went into that complex. Amazing. The auditorium was really big. Whoever built it cared about the people who would stay there.
That asylum doesn't have as many negative vibes as most of the other ones I have seen. It almost seems like the people here got along pretty well with eachother. The residuals so far have been pretty mellow. I have only seen one hallway with gurneys, and patients in wheelchairs. I hope I see some actual ghosts.
I love these videos! At a time when we are pretty much confined to our homes, it's a way for us to escape the anxiety caused by this pandemic! Thank you for all you do!
Yea You Have Cool Videos ! I Always Check Your Channel Even If I Don't Receive a Notification ( i don't trust technology , even tho its nice and i use it )
I have a fondness for various aspects of older buildings, from ornate wood and tile work to vintage plumbing fixtures - water fountains, sinks, tubs, etc. Though it might cause others undue concern, your plumbing fixture footage is appreciated by some. One of these years I might have to get a claw foot tub.
....definitely a huge, sprawling complex ....with an obvious huge Pediatric population historical footprint. The size and span remind me of the Richsrdson, Buffalo Psychiatric Complex saved after years of neglect shortly before the wrecking ball arrived. Now a Luxury Urban Conference Center and Hotel. Working there as a student nurse decades ago, I doubt I would sleep well on the premises even after all these years. Terrific explore....great documentation.
Hi JP ! Something very cool I wanted to let you know ... you take the time to flash information about the location you are at for your viewers , this is very much appreciated. It’s little things like that , that’s sets you apart from other explorers . Keep doing what you do and god bless!!!!
Not sure if someone else commented on this yet, but the blue thing you called a flotation device that you found at the pool is actually something you use to bathe a baby in a bath tub. The suction cups on the bottom keep it from moving around. It keeps the baby upright so it doesn't slump down too far into the water. But it definitely doesn't help a baby float. :)
I`m 70 years old many moons ago my mom was sent here nervous break down that was the cleaner word for what ailed she spent some time in there Thank you for the time to remember
The city recently tore down a mall in my area and it is now being rebuilt for other businesses. Hope this area is repurposed, as well. Excellent video.
Enjoyed the whole video, but especially enjoyed seeing the movie projectors! I'd LOVE to spend a day there wandering around. You bring the camera gear, I'll bring the food and drink, we'll make a day of it!

I watch your videos just about every night before I go to sleep, your destinations are always very interesting and you edit them greatly. I follow others like dan bell and the proper people too but you being a local u tuber make you one of my favorites. Keep em Coming JP.
JP, I discovered your wonderful videos a few days ago and I must say, I haven't gotten much done since then. I love following you around every corner in the homes, resorts and place you go as one never knows what you will find around the next corner. I enjoy the paranormal investigations also. They keep me on the edge of my seat. Please keep up your awesome work and keep the videos coming. Awesome work and great contents. Thank you.
Amazingly enormous ! That semi round room with a nurses station reminds me of a physical therapy room with those portable stairs. The bright room with windows was considered to be therapeutic also. Thank you for taking the time to film and share it. Be safe and healthy.
Love how you left the camera while u explored and fast played the tape or whatever u call it. Havent seen anyone else do that. Really keen on that man. Loved it
Great video as always - crazy place! The droopy blades on the ceiling fans were creepy. The explore reminds me of when we explored the North Wales Mental Asylum in Denbigh, it was massive. A lot of it was lost to fire a few years back.
You have amazing videos! You find some amazing places! That baby device is a baby bath device. You use it to help the baby sit up it tub, the suction cups stuck to bottom of the tub. My oldest son who is 24 had one as a baby.
Excellent video. What never makes sense to me is the vandalism and spray painting abandon buildings or homes. I never will understand that mentality. But my favorite part of this exploration was the theater. It is truly amazing. Thanks for sharing this amazing adventure.
As with all of your videos that I've seen this one is also wonderful!!! I love the auditorium and the pool the best!!! You have the best channel ever so keep up the great work!!! Thank you Jay for sharing!!!
What an amazing complex. The auditorium and stage is impressive. My Aunt was handed over to the state of PA as a 2 year old because she had Down Syndrome. She lived almost the rest of her life in an asylum until PA closed most of these places. Sad.
Felt the need to comment again...first time i watched everything seemed calm now its throwing off a weird vibe never heard horror stories about Embreeville like the other chester county hospital Pennhurst that place was abysmal
The projectionists room brought back memories from when I was younger. My Dad showed movies, and we (brother &I) got to see them for free. And we watched them twice!
I want to Thank-you for interesting and clean, family friendly videos!! It really means a lot to me that you are considerate of your viewers and keep your videos clean and respectful!! That is why I watch you and because they are very interesting too!! Keep it up!!!
The pool was a therapy pool that’s why it was such a strange shape. Also the balance beam close to the floor was used to teach children balance. This looks like a place where people brought their handicapped children. Back in the 50’s handicapped children were placed in places like asylums. If you go back... check out some of the rooms in the tunnels- I’m not sure it could have been before the 50s but they used to place the schizophrenic patients in rooms with no windows thinking that the phases of the moon had something to do with their insanity and the belief was that if they couldn’t see the moon then they wouldn’t become violent. Sometimes you might see rings on the walls where the violently insane were chained to the wall.
I just started watching exploration videos about a month ago. There have only been a few that's subscription worthy for me so far, and you're one of them! 😊
Jp Matt and Jess, i want to thank you guys for putting together this video and sharing it with us! Very neat property. It is massive! I always wonder what it would look like back when it was operational, with patients and Staff walking around. Just crazy to see it all rotting away. I love all your videos JP and i definitely enjoyed this one too! Love how you share facts or history belonging to place. Thank you
I love all your videos I've seen thus far, JP, being informative and educational. It is also very enjoyable that you present your channel with humility and a family- friendly, respectable nature. I especially love the creepy music at the end. It gives a feeling like I just watched a thriller or a haunting, disturbing documentary that has a ring of sadness or melancholy.
What an awsome place. Sad to see it in that condition. There are so many homeless people, those buildings could have been put to such good use. Medical, schooling/training for jobs, rooms to sleep in like a barracks type place. Wood working, tailoring, plumbing, electrical training, all kinds of things could have been done there. Thank you for showing us this!
I just ran across your videos and I absolutely love them I also liked and subscribed . I once left at an apartment that had the Murphy beds that came out of the wall glass door knobs a Murphy bed And the irony board that lifted out of the wall .
Oh, Gettysburg is extremely haunted!!!!!!
@@debsmith9819 yeah it was super creepy. Fun experience looking back, but I'll never do it again. At least not at night. I've been back during the day when everything is open and still get freaked out
What did you experience?
Thanks dona
I’m a new subscriber. I enjoy seeing you do adventures I’m to afraid to do. And I love history. Thank you
Thanks for subscribing
I’m addicted to your videos. I’ve only recently discovered your channel, but have been binge watching long after I should be asleep. Lol. This one is my favorite so far because I’m partial to these kinds of buildings. I’ve visited Central State Hospital in Millegville, GA. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go inside any of the buildings. You guys should totally check it out! The history is fascinating and sad. Thanks for all the awesome videos! Keep up the great work!
Thanks crystal. Keep on bingeing.
There is some info available online with history as well as current concerns of the property
www.asylumprojects.org/index.php/Embreeville_State_Hospital
It’s amazing what it used to look like compared to today!
Wish I knew before now that a channel like this exists. I know what I’ll be doing when I’m stuck in the birthing unit (binge watching your videos 😊)
Birthing unit? Yikes lol
I sub! And I am on the notifications.
I also watch the whole commercials so you get revenue. I also just found your awesome merchandise and ordered a triblend hoodie. Thank you!
Wow, thanks so much lisa. That means a lot.
I'm an ARNP and I love a look back at old medical buildings. Thankfully there is you who bother to share with us your finds. I thank you for not making cruel comments about patients I've seen other videos that do.
I'm subscribed, hit bell and love you..😳
Thanks so much cassie
I'm glad you made another video - I think it's pretty great how you have a chance to respond to everyone - I enjoy the fairly family friendliness of the videos -thanks keep up the good work sir & as always love longer videos 😁
Thanks angelina
Thanks for the heads up ... i think i got my settings right now. I appreciate that you take the time to explain things to your viewers, and help us out
You make the most professional video’s. Thank you so much for taking us along.
I appreciate the kind words. Glad you enjoy it.
I have to say that I just ran across your videos and I absolutely love them . I had lived in an apartment that had the Murphy bed they came by on the wall glass door knobs and an ironing board that came out on the wall and a slot in the kitchen where they would deliver blocks of ice . I absolutely love old buildings and I love your videos and I'm looking forward to watching more thank you
Hi there I really like your
Videos and the way you narrate thru out. But as I am 72 years old, I am not sure about what I am doing so this is all you get from me.
Thank you for commenting and watching.
Another awesome video, thank you Matt & Jess for showing you this beautiful site. Its so sad you guys were surrounded with pain, worry, unsure, death, the energies we're through out the complex,it's so sad to think about what went on behind those doors, and once again my friend you captured these beautiful but lost souls..Thank you..
love your shows
Thanks
Sorry to tell you our Father was a patient there in the 60s for depression. Many ECT treatments never helped him. I miss you Dad. Better in heaven.
Looks like the answer to the homeless epidemic.
It could be the start of a homeless squatter community
Embreeville was a different type of hospital compared to Pennhurst which was a horrible facility a warehouse really for mentally challenged people. Love your videos!! Keep the coming💜
Im SO hyped to watch this!! And your premiers are always fun!
Hope you enjoy this one.
Awesome find. Thanks for being so respectful. Its sad that theres so many people that needed this place!
The “elevator” is probably what used to be called a “dumb waiter”. Probably not appropriate now.
Those tunnels were huge. A lot of work went into that complex. Amazing. The auditorium was really big. Whoever built it cared about the people who would stay there.
i dont comment much but did subscribe and "thumbs up" you and turned on notifications
Ty
JPVideos sub and thumbs up. Comments not so much. Do they give u more credit?

That asylum doesn't have as many negative vibes as most of the other ones I have seen. It almost seems like the people here got along pretty well with eachother. The residuals so far have been pretty mellow. I have only seen one hallway with gurneys, and patients in wheelchairs. I hope I see some actual ghosts.
I love these videos! At a time when we are pretty much confined to our homes, it's a way for us to escape the anxiety caused by this pandemic! Thank you for all you do!
👍thanks for checking it out.
Yea You Have Cool Videos ! I Always Check Your Channel Even If I Don't Receive a Notification ( i don't trust technology , even tho its nice and i use it )
Thanks, as good as technology has helped us, it's still not perfect.

Another interesting video. Please tell me you went for pizza afterwards...lol
Matt and jess did. I brought sandwiches with me lol.
what a huge place! I love old Asylums!
Look for a fallout shelter inside the school
....definitely a huge, sprawling complex ....with an obvious huge Pediatric population historical footprint.
Thank you
Hi JP ! Something very cool I wanted to let you know ... you take the time to flash information about the location you are at for your viewers , this is very much appreciated. It’s little things like that , that’s sets you apart from other explorers . Keep doing what you do and god bless!!!!
Glad you enjoy my work peggy
Wow, that's a huge compound. It would take forever to go through everything. Kinda creepy, but also so interesting, thanks for the walk through.
I wish i had more time to explore more of it.
I can’t believe it took me two years to find this! My boyfriend and I were the couple that came across you guys! So cool to finally see this video
Nearly three years actually lol
That place is huge! That auditorium is amazing!!
And i didnt even get to see half of it.
I'm still catching up on your past videos but I'm liking what I'm seeing
Ty
I love how clear the video is. You feel like you are there. Thank you
👍🙂
Love your videos! They are really well done and extremely interesting! Great stuff, keep up the great work!
I realized that after.
Haha, sounds good
@JPVideos ... MASSIVE THANK YOU for your continuous content that rocks!!!😃👍 Your research into the places you explore really adds to viewing & it's 100% appreciated !! Your quirky fascination with sussing out toilets/lifting the lid~really cracks me up, it's so bloody funny😜😅Wishing you a 2019 that's filled with amazingly interesting & fantastic abandoned houses, buildings etc & stay safe. Vanessa 😎🐨, South Australia
Thanks vanessa. Glad i put a smile on your face.
I watch your videos just about every night before I go to sleep, your destinations are always very interesting and you edit them greatly. I follow others like dan bell and the proper people too but you being a local u tuber make you one of my favorites. Keep em Coming JP.
Thanks so much
JP, I discovered your wonderful videos a few days ago and I must say, I haven't gotten much done since then. I love following you around every corner in the homes, resorts and place you go as one never knows what you will find around the next corner. I enjoy the paranormal investigations also. They keep me on the edge of my seat. Please keep up your awesome work and keep the videos coming. Awesome work and great contents. Thank you.
Aww, thanks sandra
Thank you for going to these sites jp videos. They where very interesting.
You're welcome destiny
Amazingly enormous ! That semi round room with a nurses station reminds me of a physical therapy room with those portable stairs. The bright room with windows was considered to be therapeutic also. Thank you for taking the time to film and share it.
Be safe and healthy.
I really like the still picture shots at the end...almost creepy.
thanks
Great camera work Amazing that the place was not stripped bare by scrappers
Slowly and surely it will be.
Love how you left the camera while u explored and fast played the tape or whatever u call it. Havent seen anyone else do that. Really keen on that man. Loved it
Thanks!
Great video as always - crazy place! The droopy blades on the ceiling fans were creepy. The explore reminds me of when we explored the North Wales Mental Asylum in Denbigh, it was massive. A lot of it was lost to fire a few years back.
I watch every video that I see on UA-cam. Keep up the fantastic work JP.
You have amazing videos! You find some amazing places!
That baby device is a baby bath device. You use it to help the baby sit up it tub, the suction cups stuck to bottom of the tub. My oldest son who is 24 had one as a baby.
I realized that afterwards. Thanks for watching.
@@JPVideos81 No problem.. I love your videos!
WOW, just WOW !! I enjoyed this video so much! Thank you for taking us on your journey thru these buildings. I'd love to see more video and photos.
Thanks
I love that old fashioned rounded street light
Excellent video. What never makes sense to me is the vandalism and spray painting abandon buildings or homes. I never will understand that mentality.
But my favorite part of this exploration was the theater. It is truly amazing. Thanks for sharing this amazing adventure.
I agree, i dont understand it either.
Love your videos keep up the good work
Thanks sandra!
Love your videos and look forward to seeing all the places you explore!
Thanks Amanda. Just check my abandoned remains playlist for all my abandoned adventures.
As with all of your videos that I've seen this one is also wonderful!!! I love the auditorium and the pool the best!!! You have the best channel ever so keep up the great work!!! Thank you Jay for sharing!!!
Thanks for the kind words gini
@@JPVideos81 I'm speaking the truth and you are most welcome Jay!!!
What an amazing complex. The auditorium and stage is impressive. My Aunt was handed over to the state of PA as a 2 year old because she had Down Syndrome. She lived almost the rest of her life in an asylum until PA closed most of these places. Sad.
Thats very sad
All of us here love and support you. Keep on trucking and don’t ever stop!
TY
I am so watching all your videos. You are funny and keep them interesting. Thanks Jay!!!!
Glad to hear it
Love this video. The gym floor was so warped its unreal. These are sad places but as time has shown us, will always be needed. Thank you so much.
Crazy how wood can buckle like that.
Must of been nice.
I want to Thank-you for interesting and clean, family friendly videos!! It really means a lot to me that you are considerate of your viewers and keep your videos clean and respectful!! That is why I watch you and because they are very interesting too!! Keep it up!!!
Thank you cathy
Interesting, thanks for sharing
Another great video I agree with all can't understand why people think they have to trash places like this what a shame
This is a bigger and brighter asylum than any others I've seen. I hope it was a happier one as well.
I just started watching exploration videos about a month ago. There have only been a few that's subscription worthy for me so far, and you're one of them! 😊
Aww thanks
No matter when your video's are on i appreciate you and all that u do
I love that you always add still photos at the end!
Ty
Jp Matt and Jess, i want to thank you guys for putting together this video and sharing it with us! Very neat property. It is massive! I always wonder what it would look like back when it was operational, with patients and Staff walking around. Just crazy to see it all rotting away. I love all your videos JP and i definitely enjoyed this one too! Love how you share facts or history belonging to place. Thank you
Ty joe
I love all your videos I've seen thus far, JP, being informative and educational. It is also very enjoyable that you present your channel with humility and a family- friendly, respectable nature. I especially love the creepy music at the end. It gives a feeling like I just watched a thriller or a haunting, disturbing documentary that has a ring of sadness or melancholy.
Thank you pam
Thanks Jay, awesome video!
Thanks. I do enjoy them. No drama. No ugly talk. You give lots of information.
Glad you enjoyed it
I just ran across your videos and I absolutely love them I also liked and subscribed . I once left at an apartment that had the Murphy beds that came out of the wall glass door knobs a Murphy bed And the irony board that lifted out of the wall . Old houses have so much history and I love them so thank you and I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos .
Thumbs up. I got to the end. Three sessions but I got there. Miracle if I can get through one of your videos without an interruption. I'm considering hiding in a closet. But then the cat would come find me. lol Just keep watching the way I am. lol
