  • On my travels to a previous location, i happened to glance over on the side of the highway. Standing alone in the middle of no where was this gem. After filming my initial location, i quickly looked up how to get to this place on google maps. A short drive later and here i was, standing in front of this Massive, Beautiful, Abandoned Farmhouse. Some items were left behind as it looks like they held a yard sale at one point. Although this home is very beautiful, its also creepy. As you will see from some of the rooms inside and a strange event that took place while i was in the attic. Come along as we check out the Abandoned Remains of this Beautiful, Rustic, Abandoned Farmhouse. Enjoy
    Please Note: Exploring Abandoned locations can be dangerous. I don't condone or encourage anyone to enter an Abandoned structure. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal and when possible, i seek out permission. I simply go to document its history before it's gone and leave things the way I find them. I assume all the risks & responsibility in doing so. Please don't attempt to do this on your own.

    Incase anyone is wondering, i pointed out that the window is closed. When i went into the attic, the door slammed shut. Wind didn't blow it closed since that window was shut.

    I grew up on a good sized farm, and let me tell you I can tell this was a good sized farming operation back in the day. 1. The pantry room had double chest freezers because they would have held yield from the farm, frozen beef, chicken and pork most likely. 2. They put up preserves and canned, hence all the shelving for canned produce. You went too fast but I saw canned preserves. The upstairs and double staircase was probably hired hands rooms for young men. However, that would have been a long time ago as my grandfather stopped using hired hands in the 1940s when equipment was better. Neverless by the interior good condition, someone was living there not long ago. What a shame. Someone needs to buy it if possible with those gorgeous old floors, grand fireplace and giant windows before it falls into ruins.

    A classic Italianate home from the 1850's era built for the extremely wealthy due to the size and decor. The staircase off the kitchen was the servant's stairs and a butler's pantry area in the kitchen. The room 8:48 would have been for the nanny and the adjacent room 9:00 the nursery. The bedroom at 10:05 the largest bedroom would be the master room. Also, in the Victorian time it was customary for husband and wife to have two separate bedrooms. The area of 11:16 would have been for the servants with the servant's stairs to the kitchen post haste for 5:00 a.m. breakfast. Sounds like this entire area was destroyed by the onset of the Highway which made the homes drop off the map.

      I'm from a farming state, Gloria, where they had big families to help run the farms, so this might not have been a wealthy family, just prosperous. The separate quarters might have been for the "Hired Girl," who would help out around the house, including nanny-type work with the smaller kids--which would allow more people out of the house to operate the farm. My folks had several friends with big farms and quite large houses, lots of bedrooms upstairs---though none as large as this beautiful home. The usual comments definitely apply: "Damn shame," "Might be able to be restored," etc., but I can always picture the lives sustained, the births, the deaths, the weddings, and the holidays. The usual good video from JP, no?

      In England very old houses are given “listed status” and a certain grade. That means that you have to preserve their character and architectural qualities. You can modernise to a certain extent but must use original materials (depending on ‘grade’ listed). Does the same thing exist anywhere in the states? Could you buy an old Edwardian mansion and demolish all the original doors and staircases? Replace them with ‘futuristic’ ultramodern if you so desired?
      I watch these videos and fantasise about how the houses would shine after a little love and care....All that history is wonderful.

      Me too. I always try to decide where I'd have the tree at Christmas. It really makes me mad, though, that people think so little of homes like this one when I'd almost give my soul to have one like it. I LOVE the way there's so many twists and turns and rooms. I'd probably have to leave bread crumbs to find my way out. This is the first JPVideo I've seen--but it's not going to be the last.

    I’m in my mid 50’s. This was a typical old farmhouse with addition. Buckaroo Milton Bradley game is from late ‘
    60’s to early ‘70’s. However, the 2 stairwells were typical in ages before this where the servants used a separate stairway from the rest of the hour. The servant stairs would always lead to the kitchen. Gorgeous waste of a home!

      Same here, Warrior. I actually had the little tin kitchen set when I was about five. Love it when I see something and memories from a long, long, long time ago, are triggered. Very kewl!
      Edited to add I also had the baby doll cradle! 💝

    • @LADYJUSTICE50
      @LADYJUSTICE50 5 років тому +3

      The actual Million Bradley Buckaroo board game your referring to is an 1947 edition. Priced on e-bay its only worth $13.97 with stains and parts missing. The later game's from the 60's on up have different covers and the games were stacking games on later editions. I'm in my 60's & I'd never heard of the game with two brothers that would have loved that game. We had the most popular collection of Milton Bradley games that took up our entire linen closet (all 5 shelves and the floor) that Mom had to move our towels and wash clothes down to the first floor! (there were 4 of us, a year apart!)
      From what we gathered there is not much of a demand for this game. As for the little girl's kitchen set, the stove was plastic, a much later add on but so charming. QUESTION: Can anyone tell if that is an electrical cord coming from the rear of that oven set? I don't see the cord on the right side of the oven. I know there is no way they made plastic oven's with real electric cords so they could actually cook and heat food for little girl's to play with!
      I actually owned a tin refrigerator almost identical to that one with a matching sink (it had a place in the rear that allowed for a bowl of water to sit and a tube that would let the water pour out into the sink when you turned the knobs on), and matching oven. My favorite feature was the pop up toaster with 2 pieces of plastic toast my Mom had gotten to go with the entire set. It was on Christmas morning. But I couldn't wait to see what would happen (YES - you guessed it!) when I put my toast into the toaster in the kitchen. Nothing. So I returned to the Christmas festivities only to hear my Dad hollering at the top of his lungs 20 minutes later as the room began to fill with putrid smoke. Apparently plenty was happening inside the toaster. My little plastic toast was now gooey melted plastic all over the heating elements of the real one and Dad was pretty upset. O crowd like a baby because I thought I was in big trouble but he eventually chuckled and informed me that plastic food dies NOT go into kitchen appliances. My toast was toast! And we had to wait a couple days before we got a new one. But I loved that entire kitchen set. It was as tall as I was. 3 - 4 ft. I was about 6. Nice memories JP and to the other commentary's who had similar ones!
      They don't make them like that anymore!!
      😍

    Am surprised the original door hardware is still there - usually one of the 1st things vandals steal. Those old tin toys are worth a good bit, as well as a few of the chairs I saw. Some of the linens may be worth a good bit if they’re old kitchen tablecloths, etc. Nice find! I used to love to explore old cabins and houses in my younger years, LOL.

    That place does look like it could be renovated fairly easily. As far as I can see the structure looks in good shape. I watch these kind of videos because I like to see the architecture of the houses and the history NOT because I think they might be haunted. That is ridiculous. There is no such thing as ghosts. If there is anything there it is demonic because that can happen and you shouldn’t be there.
    Old homes like that sometimes have two staircases because one was for the servants to use and they would be living in rooms upstairs.
    That was a wood heater insert in the downstairs fireplace. Those were freezers in that room downstairs that you called coolers.
    This was a great video and I do love your style!! Thanks

    I've only started watching your videos, I love old rustic places, each place tells a story of long past, some mysterious, others eerie and suspicious and some places give off bad feelings and then feelings of despair and sadness, as you walk past the old window frames, door frames, door knobs, vintage toys (as in the tin furniture) collectors pay a lot for these items, but what kills me are to see all those old window frames, wood shutters and door knobs, light fixtures, etc., (Im working on my store called "my lil rustic shop) i refurbish old furniture (I see a lot in your videos), out of respect for past owners, I don't know if Id be tempted to remove items that are of value..love the videos, keep up the great work (btw, I lived in Texas for over 20 years, originally from Canada, Id drive back and forth and would often pull off the interstate and find abandoned farm houses and homes, but never had the nerve to walk inside, esp being a female and alone)

    In 1985 I lived in a farm house built in 1882. I was pregnant at the time with my first child. It was very similar to this. My husband was always at work so I spent loads of time alone. Lots of things would go bump and creak. He wanted me to fix up this one room for a nursery. I refused! Hated even going upstairs and started sleeping in the parlor down stairs. He finally figured out why I hated that upstairs. HE FINALLY SAW THAT CLOSET OPEN ON IT'S OWN AND FELT HIS FOOT GETTING PINCHED. Moved out a week after the baby born...didn't feel safe. Place since got vandalized and burnt down.

    I believe the original house was in the back and with a growing family they built on a big addition.
    We owned an old house we bought to use as two rentals. It had two staircases. Once a house for old they often put paneling over the plaster walls. More recently it could have had frozen pipes, septic problems, etc and certainly it cost a lot to heat, so the tenants could not afford it and moved out.
    The landlord thought he would fix it up and started painting. Hence the paint cans in one room upstairs. Also someone had a garage sale and some items did not sell. Probably too far from town. No beds and dressers and no living room furniture and dining table either. They left. However, someone still owns it, it's just vacant. And probably not a good rental because of the size big enough for several families. Costly to split and make now kitchens and baths for a rental. May not have been a good rental because too far from town or jobs. Too big and expensive for a contractor or HGTV to renovate. So it sits empty and now what to do with it? Good ideas anyone?

      A couple in their 50s at my church bought an old home of this size. A bunch of us from the church helped strip the walls and helped clean out and clean up the home. Then someone came in and insulated the home. Threw up some walls added paint and they were golden. It is so beautiful now and made me so happy to help restore it to its original beauty.

    • @greyeaglem
      @greyeaglem 5 років тому +2

      I think it might be the other way around, front built first and back added on. Also on the upper floor to the right of the front door there was a room built on the front that looks like it was just tacked on. That's why the upstairs is so confusing, because of the addition. It wasn't done a whole lot later though as the trim is all from basically the same era. I would guess the front was built in the 1850s and the addition 18880-1890. There weren't any fireplaces that I saw other than the kitchen, so I don't know how they heated it. There are some radiators from the '50s in some of the downstairs rooms but not the upstairs. They must have froze, or else this is in a very warm climate.

That would be after it gets the repairs it needs...maybe make a few of the rooms for the children, like a library, a small clinic type room, a craft/project room, etc. Lot's of potential no matter what ends up happening to it.

    What a beautiful old farmhouse! It is large because the farm around it is large and was a working farm at one point. Whoever built it had some money for the times. The bones are indeed good and it could be restored. The fireplace insert is a firebox and controls the amount of oxygen the wood receives as it burns. Those things can put out a lot of heat! Odd, I did not see any fireplaces in the upstairs rooms! And no bathroom! The small room with all the windows would usually have been a sewing room. The house had lots of storage. Plaster walls. Had been electrified. The metal cabinets and enamel sink were typical 1940's. There had been a female child there during the 1960's when the little kitchen toys were made of tin. Old board games and Dr Suess books. Evidence of a more recent baby. When the house was built large families were the norm with elderly grandparents living there too. Such a great house with much history!

    That reminds me of an old farm house in Kansas we lived in. The room with the 2 freezers is called the mud room. Farmers come in and take their boots and clothes off if they were to muddy. All those low windows and doors guarantee that if there is a breeze at all it would circulate through the whole house. Bottom to top. That's why the door blew to that went to the attic. There were normally the 2 stair cases one from the kitchen to help with the heat in the summer and winter. Then the other staircase was the fancier one that came up from the front door entrance way. And it also normally lead out to the main living room. Back in it's day that was one fancy built home. Totally beautiful home. ❤️❤️

    Negative air pressure can come from any opening to the outside causing that attic door to slam. As indicated before you went inside the house as well the broken window with the blinds flapping the wind had moments of intensity.

    • @spamanator666
      @spamanator666 6 років тому +5

      Exactly. Attics are not sealed rooms, they have vents to allow airflow and there were broken windows on the floor where the door was, we can see wind blowing at the top of stairs and in a room or two. No ghosts you scaredy cats, just wind causing pressure differences.

      Hi Brittany, yes I was aware that he usually had someone with him but I found a few 'curious' noises that I just couldn't explain. I decided to listen with headfones on and here are a few if you care to have a listen :-)
      @6:33 who is making the slurping noises whilst JP's talking, and then again @6:41 for about 10 secs...loads of slurping and like someone shivering when he opens and closes the buckaroo box...could swear it sounds like three people are making those sounds, and they follow JP around, listen when he opens the fridge @8:16 there's a laugh ...going upstairs @8:19 sounds like three people breathing ...@9:04 slurp..@9:12 sniff sniff sniff whilst he talks.... really strange voice @11:58 'ain't no one in...say no more', @14:57 another voice at same time as JP's ..weird' ?

    • @RevRSleeker
      @RevRSleeker 6 років тому +2

      Brittany, yes you're quite right about 'suggestions'. I only put my headfones on because of one noise that I heard that made me curious to listen again. My headfones were an Xmas present, I'm so lucky to have good ones !
      Oh well, glad you had a listen...thank you and maybe next time I'll convince you lol...

    • @RevRSleeker
      @RevRSleeker 6 років тому +2

      Brittany, yes, try again when you have your work headfones on...incidentally, I've subsequently found out that there's a theory with these EVP's that spirits utilise any sound as an energy in order to communicate, try listening for a voice when clothes are rustling etc...and that sounds that have embedded themselves into walls or even objects, still need a similar energy for us to hear it. Sometimes new batteries will drain, over and over, or the people present will feel enormously tired or even sick with this sudden loss of energy. It's all in this theory of energy and also there are theories on how some people who visit the same place won't experience the same thing as some people just appear better suited to hear or experience whatever is there...other than guesswork, it's apparently how 'sensitive' we are to this phenomena. Thanks again :-)

    • @RevRSleeker
      @RevRSleeker 6 років тому +2

      Brittany, yes, people expect to hear and see things on the paranormal channels but I only subscribe to a couple of them now...the comments are so funny sometimes as it's amazing the number of ghosts people are actually seeing there lol. I've found some really strange stuff on all sorts of 'ordinary' channels though, a channel owner keeps thanking me for simply posting what I'd heard..I'll say no more but it sounded scary and I just timestamped everything I'd heard...he's one of two people that messaged me back asking me what they could do about it, 'please don't ask me' is all I can say lol...I have helped this guy to seek help only because he was so initially frantic about it all that I couldn't just leave him be...funnily enough I'll be meeting the guy soon, he'll be holidaying not a million miles from me in october lol

A lot of times big farm Houses like this typically have an inside servant and a hired hand to help around the farm. Just like you noticed those quarters are normally the last to be renovated or done over, so a lot of times they are great time capsules...Original fixtures, plaster ect.. They had it real good. Like with any property one owns you have to keep it up. My Dad said that fixing will never end and he was sure right. The attic had nice treasures in it. Nice table, stuff can be refinished. Yes there were a lot of door in that house just like a maze. This was a great find I love these houses. To answer your first question, no, I am not afraid of the dark. I find it majestic. If anything spoils the effect, it's my natural tendency to trip over things.
    I noticed the book on the chair as you first came in, "If I Ran the Zoo" by Dr. Seuss. I clearly remember my mother buying it for me one day in 1951 when I was five years old. The only words I couldn't read were the nonsense ones. Those metal toy kitchen appliances may have been from around the same time.
    The window you pointed out was closed, but what about the one that was wide open enough to allow the wind to blow the curtains and blinds around and scare you? Also, in a house that old, just about everything can be out of alignment and allow doors to close on their own behind you. I loved that attic stairwell with those winding stairs. It's a damn shame that nobody is doing anything to preserve that place. Oh, BTW, as a former apartment building superintendent who has cleaned more than her share of vacancies, I was ready to scream, "NO!!" as you opened that refrigerator.
    These videos are great.

    Wow! I had that same toy fridge when I was little (early 70s)! Seeing stuff like that makes me kind of misty because it was just left with no one to do upkeep. I see places that were once nice that are now in decline either because of the occupants age, death, uninterested children, etc. But the price to restore; a labor of love will turn into a money pit.

      That what it appears like here. Elderly owners passed and kids want nothing to do with it.

    Lovely, well-built house. Original structure ca 1870-ish. Brick fireplace with iron stove inserted later. House has clearly been added-onto a number of times & remodeled more. That EWGLEY wallpaper is early-mid 1970s. Floors are PINE, not hardwood. Interesting!

    What a gem. Amazing, if only one could see the stories of this house. I imagine the sound of the highway in the back ground came way later in the history of this house. Adverse possession “squatter’s rights” shouldn’t be to hard to land this house.

    The outside of this house is so awesome! So awesome, in fact, that I think I will use its description in one of my future novels. YES!!!
