Sadness for this man No one will know it was him that saved millions and no one will thank him and his closest friend forgot him and and he still considers him a friend
True, you know Batsy. He's always the greatest detective but equal to John. Also he knew he is the boyfriend of his childhood bestfriend Zatanna. That is why he chosed & needed John to be his back up plan. By ordering Zatanna to cast a spell on her husband secretly. John is another brains like him.
This is what drew me into Constantine, the fact that unlike other superheroes, even other magic based superheroes, he is the kind of character who is willing to cross the moral line in order to do what needs to be done, to make the sacrifice. He couldn't have saved his friends daughters soul without doing something major, and sadly magic the way it works depands sacrifices, in this case, memories and love. Unlike many of the demi god like heroes in DC, Constantine is the most grounded of anyone, he's flawed, he does things you would expect a regular joe would do and hold the regret later. He isn't perfect in any way, far from it, but thats what makes him relatable.

You mean ease off now due of the announcement of JJ Abrams Constantine series for DCEU in HBO Max a year ago. Except Matt had returned but voiced John again in Harley Quinn s3ep5... Meaning he is still doing some unexpected...
Constantine is the unsung hero that actually gets shit done. If I compared him to Batman, I would say Constantine is more the one that works in the shadows... literally. Batman pays the price, but not mostly from himself. John, on the other hand, pays the price practically every time he does a job from helping one person to saving the universe from himself. Also, John is willing to pay more than Zatanna when it comes to magic because... well he’s not Hellblazer for nothing. He doesn’t want Z to lose her light in her soul so he always talks her out of it. Not to mention John Constantine seems to blend in more since he’s practically an unknown and prefers not to have the spotlight, but only those he helped would know him as a dark hero. This is why I love Constantine. He may be an ass, but he’s an ass with a heart that uses his darkness to save lives when he can. And he still making it a goal to save Astra, which I don’t doubt he will be able to do someday when he isn’t dragged into perilous events. Also, even animated John Constantine/Hellblazer is sexy as Hell! Even his actor is freaking gorgeous!
Batman is more like the ideal version of Constantine. Batman cares his city and the whole world, Constantine doesn't truly give a shit about the world because in his view, the world is shitty anyway. Batman can sacrifice himself for saving Gotham, but Constantine won't because that has noting to do with him. In this way, Constantine is indeed a selfish-bastard comparing with Batman. However, what Constantine will do is to be sure those he truly cares, stays safe. Chaz is one of them, and John knows the only way to protect him is to push him away. That is very similar to Batman. So in summary, Batman is more like a selfishness Constantine, a more ideal image of dark hero. Constantine is more like normal human that only wants to live in this shitty world by playing its shitty rules.

It's the cost that Chas and Constantine have to pay. In Constantine's world, there is no fairy tale happy ending. The powerful magic always comes with the great cost.

This movie made me really really uncomfortable. I almost stopped watching. I love dark stories but this is some serious shit. Don't get me wrong I loved this movie but I was really shocked by it since I'm not familiar with Constantine comics it took me by surprise.
Thats what I liked about it. DC was always referred to as the darker comic company next to marvels bright and colorful outlook, but even then the darkest thing I remember back in the day from animated dc line ups was batman beyond return of the joker. This however is on another level, its showing the seriously grim dark side of DC, much like how in the real world there are things we don't want to think about happening, stuff you'd find on the dark web, well Constantine stories allows for that kind of dark writing, and it doesn't feel like its out of place within dc.
dude, the dark constantine stories aren't DC. they're from Vertigo where they have more freedom to write which is why they can write messed up stuff. when he moved to DC he became way less dark than in Vertigo
@@SuiteBid I know that, but the stories are really different. the person above me mentioned DC as the darker imprint and that isn't really true since the stories in DC are made for the mainstream audience and is not too different in tone to other imprints such as Marvel. Tbh ive never know whos Constantine before i watch apokolips war(not a diehard dc fan). Then i fell in love with his character, now i want more of him. But his ending in house of mystery is,,,,, damn
I alway's wondered something. Is Constantine cursed? He seems to suffer an unending sleugh of tragedy, one after another. He loses friends, lovers, and it keeps happening. I'm not that familiar with Constantine, so can somebody explain it. Is it something to do with his magic, but that doesn't make sense because there are other magic users that aren't "cursed". Sure they all have their tragic backstories but usually their tragic backstories "End" but it always feels like i'm watching his tragic backstory in every show he appears in.
Constantine is a character who was just the latest born in a long line of old and powerful magic users. he has the literal gift of luck on his side. but luck is often fickle by its nature. he always ends up being the lucky one. he gets to live, to regret, and remember every single deed he's done. he's earned his spot in hell with the amount of people has intentionally and unintentionally thrown under the bus. don't get near him or you'll be the unlucky one. he's DC's survivor in the magical area. the one who has literally stepped into hell and lived to tell you don't ask about it.

Vertigo and DC are the same.
Vertigo was just the imprint name DC used to publisher darker stories.
@@SuiteBid I know that, but the stories are really different. the person above me mentioned DC as the darker imprint and that isn't really true since the stories in DC are made for the mainstream audience and is not too different in tone to other imprints such as Marvel. Meanwhile, the true dark comic imprint would be Vertigo
This is one of DC's best animated movie. 👌😎
I wonder how things would've turned out it john had kept his contract with the Aztec death god
That would be interesting.
What a tragic end and I love it
The wondering man john Constantine and his little midget
That s one Way to face Your demons.
What is that thing and why does it look like a demonized mini john?
it's one of Johns inner demons
Its a demonized mini John. Its a literal embodiment of one of his many inner demons.
@@00chla50 I would have a lot of inner demons too if I learned to use dark magic and accidentally sent a girl to hell. (Uh spoilers)
This animated movie, the TV series, and the Keanu reeves movie all have different versions of Chaz. I wonder why
i think this one is the most comic accurate
I would love to see a hazbin hotel Constantine.
hell no
0:17 Who the fuck just keeps loose cigarettes in their coat pocket?
constantine, apparently
I wish they'd made more constantine animation
Kinda reminds me 28 weeks later with the music
Why the demon looks like a mini-version of Constantine?
it's one of his inner demons made real. well the last one to survive, after he used them to kill the movie's main villain demon
@@sharjeelazeem2753 they only tried to kill negal, but negal died from the love of trish's parents and both the love of john and his friend.
It's one of his Inner Demons, a part of him.
Tbh ive never know whos Constantine before i watch apokolips war(not a diehard dc fan). Then i fell in love with his character, now i want more of him. But his ending in house of mystery is,,,,, damn
I hope he comes back.
No he's not cursed. It's just how his magic works
@@electromagneticpsychopath4973 Can you elaborate on that? I just fairly recently found out about constantine.
@@michaeldavis255 let's just say there is always a price to pay with his magic
Constantine is a character who was just the latest born in a long line of old and powerful magic users. he has the literal gift of luck on his side. but luck is often fickle by its nature. he always ends up being the lucky one. he gets to live, to regret, and remember every single deed he's done. he's earned his spot in hell with the amount of people has intentionally and unintentionally thrown under the bus. don't get near him or you'll be the unlucky one. he's DC's survivor in the magical area. the one who has literally stepped into hell and lived to tell you don't ask about it.
One of DC's best characters
He is the best character of all fiction and non-fiction.
@@thealterist9762 he's in my top 5 for sure
Why did i mistake cod with call of duty?...meep ;--;
Actually I dont find ending overdepressing, Chas could always try to win back his ex-wife. He after all has great advantage by knowing her.
0:59 i can't tell if that's a reference to the sandman with dream escaping from being imprisoned or the events of the movie
this movies is awesome I need more movie like this
I am a public official. I must go! But I don't enjoy a moment! Thieves and hustlers and the dregs of humankind, all mixed together in a shallow, drunken stupor. - Judge Claude Frollo, The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)

Haven’t actually seen the movie...is the pedestrians not seeing the demon dude a plot hole or can they just not perceive him? Similar to the mist in Percy Jackson?

Hey
Waddup m8?
Question, was Astra saved in this?
How did his friend forget him what happened to him
In order to stop Negal. 1 has to sacrifice everything by forgetting John and his family. Thats the deal and the spell to defeat him. Every deal has a price and this was the result.
He could've used his friends wife.
Exactly or he could've not used the curse.
@thealterist9762 Then what can he use if not the curse?
@@silverstrike5904 He could've contacted Zatanna for help or tell an angel to save the girl or destroy the demon. There are many possibilities.
