The best way to beat a villain with a plan is with no plan at all
Constantine's conning skills is second only to the devil himself, Lucifer Morningstar, but that says a lot since lucifer has millennia of knowledge about the universe and multiverses being the will of the presence and all. Still, Constantine is someone the presence has acknowledged to be "Conned" by.
Hes my second favorite hero just with how the drunk britishness clashes and combines with him being a badass magician

Constantine is basically the Batman of magic-users. He always plans ahead and always have something up his sleeve.
That's a lot more accurate than I expected. Don't forget that both would do almost absolutely everything to complete the mission (except John probably goes farther but just a bit).

In Apokolips war I noticed How he did plot relevant stuff and absolutely nothing else. He was usefull for the overall story but seemed like he was just refusing to use magic in most of the fights to fake tension. Great movie tho

@@jradjj2988 I believe there's more than one story that actually runs with that, quick answer is that it wouldn't be as fun to read about. The le quick answer is that, i dunno, the training to actually beome good at magic is pretty long, and magic isn't the most reliable ability. The JL has either a lot of magic users on it or affiliated with members and batman judged it too wastful of time to dive into. Hell it could just be lack of talent. As, while any old idiot can do it, just because you can, doesn't mean you're good at it.

He's categorized as Blood Magic because magic is deeply rooted in his genes. He was already a talented magician, but he's just too arrogant and self loathing so he wasn't able unlock his full potential
Both Raven and John chanting that spell that Raven always uses puts nostalgia in my heart. I remember Raven from back in the Teen Titans days. I love magic
Also don't forget there was another version of them in the DC's Bombshell from the other Earth. Where both John & Zatara adopted a young Raven in WW2. That scene reminds me about them. I can feel & see the similarity about these 2.

In the Vertigo comics, John was more of a Gandalf. Big displays of energy and booming incantations weren't John's toolkit. His magic was subtle and quiet, and mostly used the Synchronicity Highway that his family was heir to.
He did the big booming stuff once, "Fiat bloody Lux" if I remember correctly. He also seems to get flashier in the Milligan run.

Well the movie also forget the toxic relationship he has with Zatanna. Overall, he is faithful in a sense (mostly in the sense he is a manipulative jerk who always sees the worse) but it's true he's different there.

Casting Mat Ryan for both Live and Animated Constantine is on par with Kevin Conroy being Old Man Bruce Wayne back in Crisis. It's some of the best work ever. Screw any "just fan service" Bullshit. IT WAS AMAZING

I mean, his movie did fine financially, not amazing but not bad. His show got cancelled halfway through its first season and his JLD live action movie by Guillermo Del Toro got shelved. I love the character as much as you, but it seems like his luck is terrible. I doubt he'll make billions, but the JLD HBO show or JJ's new movie could popularize him for the mainstream. Don't bet on it tho

The incantation he says a 0:24 is in Danish / Swedish or Norweigan. I can legit hear him saying "Jeg kan tage kontrollen, så jeg betsemmer" . Which translates to "I can take the controle, so I am in charge". Pretty cool

Tbh, i think constantine is the most powerful hero in the DCAMU. Not for his raw strength, or even his magical power (which is only according to the universe, falling behind zatanna and raven, even swamp thing and etrigan) but for his sheer versatility and utility with his summonings and magical items and tools, and being clever enough to use them effectively

i like how the spell that makes them invisible is him pulling out some glasses and snapping them and probably saying like "disappear" or "invisible" and the symbol of snapping glasses is like "vision no more" - its so small but the idea of a spell being just making a gesture to represent the outcome is my fav way of writing magic systems-

John Constantine waves his hands a little too much in this one.
In the comics he would always trick, pressure or manipulate other magic users into doing all the actual work for him - I think that was actually his main superpower 😊
I like how they switch it up every now and then. I most definitely prefer his words and cuning to be his superpower but its enjoyable to see him use a little more magic with his same old deceptive ways.
The character that got me into comics, definitely my favorite. Also, Matt Ryan is the perfect Constantine, happy that he will come back for the new movie.

I do enjoy how unique the using of magic is by Constantine.
You know... there's always something different and he knows an array of spells with different visuals as well.
Usually you see Zatanna just doing a shield, or shooting a beam, I think every other magic user usually just... shoots a damn beam.
Constantine at the very least you don't even know what he's gonna cast.
I love how his magic requires components, don't see that very often.
With how good he is with magic weapons and spells it makes you really wonder what his limit is or if he's more powerful than zatana you know?

Is it just me or do John and Dr. Fate have similar fighting styles with their magic based attacks? I'd imagine John would be a lot more creative with his tactics while Dr. Fate focuses on ending the fight as fast as possible.

The thing that makes Constantine (even in animated form ) sometimes more appealing than Dr strange in MCU, is that atleast we get to see Constantine chanting the spell and casting it in a way such that audience understand what's the logic behind it, such as that scene of techno magic, Constantine gives a little vague line of what he is doing. Dr strange 1 managed to achieve it through making shapes and showing different spells, but didn't explained the mechanics of it, the scene of where he learns to use time stone was the best as it's the first time only we are seeing him reading instructions and subsequently seeing the shapes formed, but dr strange 2 took the magic aspect very lightly and showed it just like any other cgi effect, it didn't used magic at its core, rather just used it to make colourful lights, the comics actually go into depth of how Stephen acquires certain spells, and how he casts them. The only scenes in which the mechanics of Stephen's spell are explained when he first uses time stone, when he bargains, and when he casts the forgetting spell in nwh, others are just him playing with colourfull light.
