I'm convinced Gosetsu is a hybrid like Hilda. I assume one of his parents was an Eastern Orthardian Midlander Hyur because even though he is a Roegadyn in stature in mannerisms, his build, proportions, and features, mainly his facial features, are that of a Midlander Hyur, even down the aging. As for Roe children, until they're visibly featured in the game, I imagine them being chubby-like with broad shoulders through childhood and the chunkiness just builds into muscle as they grow.
Fantastic point! Though typically few would be more feminine and mountain more masculine but we have names in English that are like that so I think it’s fine.
@@TheEorzeanArchives It's also worth noting in this instance mountain is an adjective describing the kind of dew. I wouldn't question a male Roe called Rose Cliff.
As a fem roe player, I was confused when seeing Gosetsyu. And I was jealous of the freckles and blush combo. I do wish we had more curly hair to lean into the waves of the hair.
@@teph1256 Yep, I have a pretty decent looking full height femroe (female Viking), but there was essentially one path to take for her. SE needs to do an overhaul to femroe facial looks, after all, they only have one/two faces that are actually acceptable.
I love Roegadyn. It took me way to long in the story to connect that some of the people were supposed to be "tall" next to my 7 and a half fulm ass. All the elves were fine hights, same with Cid and Nero. I figured the twins were short and there's a teen crime solving thing going on with the scions. I finally put it together around late storm blood that wait no... I'm just big, and Zenos is supposed to be huge.
Great video on the much underrepresented Roegadyn! I kinda wish that Misija Votyasch and Queen Gunnhildr were mentioned. I think they are definitely noteworthy Roegadyn with unique positions but I don't know how much information there is about them aside from Bozja field notes.
I love my Sea Orc pirate, Roes are fun to play and look badass in most armors and their lore is overall pretty metal......though not as metal as the Lalafells strangely enough lol
I don't know if you know this but Roegadyn are also in the Nagxia region. If you happen to play the Zadnor part, you'll encounter and ally NPC who is a Nagxia Roe.
I see you’ve done some of the races, but I hope you continue to do the races you haven’t done, as I’m still trying to decide which race I should play when I finally get the game…
Seems like the pirate Roegadyns need to sail far west to the New World if they can't pirate Garlemald anymore :) Time to visit those cities of gold! Lovely video, just a shame there were no Incredible Hulk glamoured Roegadyns in the video :P

I'm disappointed there's not much expansion on the hellsguard in this video, idk if that means there's not much to say in the lore? The description of them seems to imply they kept some evil at bay fighting it back down into hell or something like that ontop of being hired often as mercenaries, sent off from their homes to become warriors. I'm just not that interested in the Sea Wolves but would like to know more about this metal backstory.
Apparently, according to one of the old Live Letters, they've wanted to add Roegadyn children for a while but due to the lack of popularity of the race there was never a time to add them that wouldn't take up resources that would be better used elsewhere. We roes get no love :
Can I just say, I really appreciate you not pausing your video every 5mins to insert a random meme. Thanks for not being that kind of channel. Every minute of lore is engaging and no frivolous padding is needed
I can't find anything in any of the fish descriptions that reference what you are talking about. I'm assuming you got Tomestones or Allagan pieces from doing some action that I would treat as non-cannonical. The same way that us getting Tomestones from hunts is.
@@TheEorzeanArchives yeah it’s from desynthesis, but still, it kinda opens another window if it’s discovered that the Allagan Empire got to the Unsundered world first.

Occassional reminder that Mountain Dew is a 100 % lore accurate Hellsguard roegadyn name. 🙃
not really, but mountain DEW would be.

Just this morning I got a femroe named Careless Whisper in my GC Squadron.
Lalafell video: 6 minutes. Roe video: 32 minutes. Seems about right.

square enix knows our character creation options sucks and most important roegadyn npc are made with impossible to select options.

To paraphrase the opening of JoCat's bard video: Catgirls? Whack! Bunnygirls? Whack! Elezengirls? They're a myth! Femroe? I'm tight as $&@%!

7? That would make you above 2 meters tall damn.
Curious Gorge is by far the best named Roe lol.
I favourite is Careless Whisper :3

This was such a good video, I always felt a little out of place trying to play a roegadyn because i didnt know much about them, this helps a lot!

Thanks! And relatively little and what there is I would rather focus on in a Bozja video. That said it is important history.
Queen Gunhildr was supposed to be a Hrothgar though, before the Viera were put into production.
You can see it in official art.
seeing all my favourite roes like curious gorge and Eynzahr I love it
actually all the cameos are great even lolorito
Yep, love my FFXIV Vikings!

As the most handsome roegadyn that has ever existed, I like this video.
Oh Twelve (which we are currently farming), please let us go to Aerslaent someday and it looks like Iceland, Amen.
My male roe's surname is Ernawint, in the old language that's Earnest Winter. I like it cause I'm a December baby.

Very in-depth and good vid :)
Why are there no Roegadyn kids in the world??? Where are they hiding? Are they all bourn as adults? We need answers!
Also great video!
Going with hoarding them in volcanos and on sailing ships. Glad you enjoyed!

One thing is for sure, they were clumsy with their currency if fish from thousands of years before their own time swallowed some.
Please CBU3 give us a Roe Scion!
Money on Horary becoming a bigger player.
I play a lala most of the time but sometimes will fantasia into a roe just to get a different perspective on things(and to enjoy 2B leggings).
"Arvina" is actually a surname used by Roegadyn living in Garlean territory, and perhaps appropriately means "fat" in Latin
So then my character Styrgeim Gohthyrwyn
I can guess that it would be pronounced like Steer-Geem Got-hear-win?
but why Welsh?
Casual reminder Roegadyn is canonically pronounced "Roo gadyn" like Rue the day
Fun fact in 11.
They had tails like lizards x-D
