The Balmoral Cairns Walk (what we could find of it!) Join us on a sunny jubilee weekend wander!

- To celebrate reaching 30,000 Subscribers, we went for a walk on the Balmoral Estate in Royal Deeside. We had heard of mysterious cairns and even a pyramid so had to go and explore! In truth there are around 15 cairns dotted about the estate, but with little prep and my renowned sense of direction we struggled to find a third of them, but still, what a great day out, far away from the crowds down at the castle and grounds. Join us on a random wander filmed on Friday 3rd June 2022.
The tartan I'm wearing is Ramsay Blue.

Never knew about those cairns, though I did expect Prince Albert's to have a hole through the top with a chain through it! 🤣🤣🤣. Great to see Alicja back keeping you in check.
Damn. You beat me to it. :)
Haha love it 🤣
@Kev Jaffray Apart from the watch there's something else known as a Prince Albert, or PA for short. It's a body piercing on a particular part of the body but I'll leave it to you to Google the details as this is a family show 😉
Scotland is beautiful and stunning 😍
😂I'm stuck indoors in Geordieland unable to walk or cycle anywhere after a big operation, but watching Steve and Alicija getting lost in Deeside has really made my day. You've given me lots of good ideas for days out and longer trips up the road in Scotland, so as soon as I'm fit I'll be making plans. Thanks for the inspiration.
Get well soon 🇨🇦
Great video and you do look dapper in that kilt. When I've worn the kilt I've been asked "What's worn under your kilt?" My answer is "Nothing. Everything is in fine working order." It's a bit of a conversation stopper.
Haha Scott I love it!! 🤣
Oh dammit ! I watched this amazing video to end just to see what a Scotsman wears under his Kilt, Oh well it was great fun as always Steve, Thanks for the laughter any how...
I’m loving your kilt with your walking boots Steve …. 🤣
Classy eh? 😊
Really enjoyed that walk through the Balmoral estate spectacular scenery x thank you both x loved the kilt
We laughed so much watching this, love you two!
Cheers Frank! Laughing at my nobbly knees eh? 🤣
Och aye the noo 😃 What a great walk! The kilt was quite stunning too 🙂 I'd love to walk up here, it looks so beautiful. Thanks for sharing Steve and Alicja 🥰
Good Times! I like getting lost myself
This was brilliant; started our day off right with beautiful scenery and a few laughs along the way. Congratulations on the 30K. Sandi & Greg H. #deserved
🎥😎👏👏👏, great camera work around Prince Albert’s Cairn.
Oh yes I enjoyed watching you walking & showing us the Cairns, I could never do that walk, thank you to you & Alicja for taking us round all that, from me in Irvine !! 🤗🤗
Love Alicja’s Egyptian walk.
Love the knees!
Anj, you are so lucky to have a cute, kilted Scot. Yayyyy❤️❤️❤️
Hi Steve, I assume that as a true Scot you are going commando under your awesome kilt. I was ready to cover my eyes rapidly as you lifted the kilt, but it will remain your secret.😄 You look stunning in a kilt and you should consider to wear it all the time. I think Alicja loves it too. By the way, it was again an amazing hike with you to discover the Cairns through the forests of Balmoral. Many thanks to both of you.👍👍
I agree with all you say Galway, but we may have to wait for another 30k. subs. before Steve dons the Kilt again he doesn’t like to draw attention to himself! I bet he would look good in the full Scottish Highland dress, dancing to strip the willow with Alicja, I’m off down memory Lane again 🫣
Your kilt added a nice touch to this video. A very remarkable place to see. Thanks for sharing this.
...so much fun to watch, Steve and Alicja (you're such a sweet family) - you deserve not 50.000, but a million watchers!!! And seeing you in a kilt, makes me consider to get one too! :) I live in Sco'land now for over 20 years (Findhorn bay), but there's still so much I haven't seen yet, and you cover a staggering amount of interesting destinies or travel options, like small flights to and fro islands, smallest ferries, climbing the peak on Eigg, the tower of Stirling etc, etc... I will probably catch up with most of your posts eventually - keep on doing and filming your fantastic trips, pleeease!!! :) xx
Thanks so much for the encouragement Jörn! Many more adventures to come :)
Look at you romping around my neck of the woods ;)
That was a wee bonny adventure, thanks so much to the both of you...
Great video as always. You always seem to get there in the end despite the poor maps and wrong routes! I''ve walked around the estate before but never knew of the cairns maybe because they are hidden in the trees. Good plan to keep the pyramid until the end as it's truly impressive. Great to see Alicja back again enjoying the countryside and the banter between you is great fun!
Great video as always 👍 congratulations on 30,000 sub🥳
And a massive thank you to the blank screen at the end 😊
I thought that might be the most appreciated cut 🤣
Awesome, cute knees...Enjoyed this walk. And you were just teasing us about what you have under yur kilt.
People always want to know what a Scotsman wears under his kilt. Maybe save the kilt for special occasions. As always, beautiful scenery. And y’all always have a good time.
Thanks Doris!
Congratulations of the 30k! What a very Steve Marsh way to celebrate it, a lovely walk round somewhere I didn't know you could even go - and with the added bonus of cairns I'd never have seen otherwise!
Thanks a lot!
I realy think Alicja is up for mischief 😂😂. Love your video,s ! Greetings from the Netherlands 👍
Haha she sure is :)
Loved the video as usual Steve, great to see you both enjoying the beautiful scenery, another place for me to make a note of visiting in the beautiful country of Scotland. Well done on 30k subscribers, very well deserved and you looked great in the kilt. Keep up the great work, look forward you your next video 👍
Thanks so much for the lovely comment!
What a lovely one to wake up to! And to see Prince Alberts Cairn was pretty special!
Thanks again you two 🙏💙
Love the kilt! ❤️🏴
Cheers Susan!
It’s a beautiful walk so far….however many cairns toy find! Thanks….oh the Albert one is stand out isn’t it!🎉
Now we see who wears the trousers in your relationship 🤣
Fascinating walk. 👍
Love the McMarch tartan kilt
Brilliant video. Definitely worse places to get lost. Deeside scenery looks amazing. Luckily for you, no parts waist high in Thistles or Nettles 😂
Well Steve, I guessed correctly what your surprise would be, “A Scotsman in a Kilt” doesn’t get any better, you are a man of your word indeed! I like the colour, what Tartan is that! Oh! and congrats on reaching 30 thousand subs. Amazing 🤩 Very impressive Cairns even if found in wrong order, and what spectacular views, especially from Prince Albert’s Mighty Cairn, I had to smile when Alicja asked you what everyone was wondering, Cheeky little minx! …. That was a fabulous walk round the Balmoral Estate with a perfect view of the Castle, bringing back memories again of many moons ago! Thank you 🙏 both for a very entertaining stroll round those beautiful 😍 Balmoral Woods “👌” not going to mention the black out at the end of the video 😉
Steve looks really amazing in the kilt, a true Scot from head to toe. Unbelievable, 30k subscribers in this short time. His trips are really wonderful, interesting and above all entertaining. I love it when Alicja accompanies him, they both have so much fun together.😊
@@GalwayGirl1 good morning, Steve always comes true, he looks grand in his Kilt, like I replied to Zweispur Mopped, I think all men look good in a kilt, he sent me a humorous reply, I recommended MinK to prove my point….I see you found Pam’s beautiful video she had me in tears again!!🥲….just replying to Magali her Dad was taken into hospital yesterday, so more worry for poor girl, it’s one thing after another, will keep you posted Galway 🥰🥀🤗
Hah I stopped the camera rolling at the right moment eh? Thanks Bernice! :)
Love the LL Bean fleece!
Haha Steve, oooh you tease! 🤣
You deserve all your subs. I was one of the early ones and love everything you share. Keep up the great work 😃 thanks Steve

@@steve-marsh no, thanks for keeping me entertained
Good video, lovely walk and views, kilt looks good,
This was awesome, had the best time watching it!
You two would be "my kind"of hiking partners 😂❤
A true scotsman always wares a kilt but first time we seen you in a kilt
So thrilled for the “bonus” on this video!!! Nothing better than a man in a kilt! (I should know…my husband has SIX!!)
By the way…that appears to be a Ramsay tartan. True? Do you have a Ramsay connection?
It's a big pleasure to see you both !!!
Awesome video guys love watching you guys explore.
Absolutely enjoyed both of you “back on track” and your singing pretty good too. Keep up the good work and congrats to 30K subscriptions.
You look great wearing the kilt .
I had to make my daughter watch this...we both love a man in a kilt🥰🥰
Haha thanks Yvonne :)
Excellent Steve, great video, well done for wearing the kilt
Cheers Bryan!
Great video as always. I was amazed to see you wearing a llbean sweatshirt. I live in Kansas. I've been wearing llbean clothes since the 1970s.
Beautiful day for it 🌞 and so glad you found Albert's pyramid. We walked the route clockwise, Princess Beatrice being the first one then Prince Albert, then the rest. The paths are so confusing and very easy to get lost. I loved every moment. Beautiful place 💚
Congrats on the 30k subs on your channel great achievement 👍👍. Continued success to you ahead take care 👍👍
Whoot Whoot - here comes 50k
Thanks so much Michael!
Lookin sharp Steve!!
Congrats on 30k You two..... Great Video... I love to see Scotty Land in the Sunshine.... You get all dressed up (Looking good by the way... I like a man in a Skirt) and then you give the Map to Alicja!!!!... Never mind... lol..... Love ya really Alicja..... :-))) xx
I give her the map in the next video too 🤦🏼♂️
@@steve-marsh She has to learn... :-)))))
Adore your videos! Probably because Scotland is my favourite country after my own, Canada. Wellll maybe Scotland is #1! Suggestion: video at Famous Grouse which IIRC is the oldest distillery in Scotland and Culzean Castle - and surrounding areas of both as they are absolutely stunning! Selfishly, I just wanna see videos on these from your perspective to compare to my own ❤️
Thanks so much for the ideas Kurt! This kinda stuff keeps the channel going :)
Super cool skirt Steve ah sorry kilt :-)!!! Great video with you great guys!!
Another great video. This location wasn't on my list originally, but has become so lately, so it was great to see this. I think I'll bring a few different maps when I try it though ;) The forest was beautiful! But the trail & cairns aren't accessible in August or September? I thought I'd heard that they were, but that Balmoral wasn't open to tourists. Maybe I heard wrong.
The effort was worth it (to me siiting comfortable here) so glad you found the big one. Spectacular view, legs and all (almost, not quite) :-)
@SteveMarsh
Prince Albert pile of stones "A Cairn" does not have the same ring to it Steve. Lovely walks through Balmoral. A Congratulations on 30.000 subscribers. Well done.
Lovely video, really good to see both having a fun day out. I had no idea those cairns existed. Congrats on the 30k as well!
Thanks so much mate! Happy travels!
Another great video! You two are so cute together!
Aww thanks!
Loved the video Steve / Alicia keep up the good work and stay safe 👍
Steve, great to see you and Alicja! Another great video. And you look good good in a kilt. It was something unexpected when I went to Scotland to see kilts being worn in non formal occasions - a barman, for example - and to see wedding parties where all the guys were in kilts.
The scenery was lovely, so green and I could almost smell the pines. Congrats on having 30k subscribers.
A beautiful place to.get lost in. Definitely one to check out.
Chris
Great video as always Steve cheers to use both.🥂🍺🍺👍.ps congratulations for reaching 30k.👏👏👏👏
Great video Steve, who need a map with your sense of direction!!!
Haha! :)
Awesome Steve. That vid was so much fun and it was great that you went off the beaten track (literally!) instead of just walking around the castle. Congratulations on your 30k milestone. A terrific achievement and I'm sure you'll get to 40 or 50 in no time as you and your good lady are so watchable 👍
As always Davey really appreciate your support!
Steve and Alicja, could you see about a video at Dunnotter Castle in Stonehaven? The castle looks amazing and very interesting. Thanks, Merry Ann from Minnesota.
Another great video, looking good in the kilt.
Cheers mate!
Brilliant :) .. lol
Fab video guys
Been there. A beautiful spot.
Stunning scenery - no wonder the Queen loved it so much.
Once again a wonderful video, thanks to the both of you and looking forward for more.
Cheers :)
I really enjoy your content keep it up🙌
Thanks so much!
Great video guys 👏👏👏
Luv The Videos Steve
I walked some of the north York moors last month and there was also a shortage of signs. Without a phone I would still be wandering around there 🤣
30K well done! I long way to go to catch up Bald and Bankrupt... :o)
Our tartan is the Graham tarten. Quite a fetching green with a yellow stripe. Great job Steve and co.
Love a man in a kilt❤
Great wee video, happy 30,000th. I think Alicjia should get a kilt for your 50,000th subscriber ... Polish Tartan?
Another cracking video Steve = so your a Ramsay ??
Thought Alicja's tee shirt said Girl Boobs til I read it better- so she is the Boss?
The poor direction finding must be the egyption bosses fault
VG 10/10
Lovely video again Steve! Do you think the cairns were erected to commemorate people who simply got lost in the woods and died of old age trying to get out?! 😅
I said it before but I’ll say again: You look fantastic in a kilt!😁
Interesting to know about those cairns that people built . The scenery along the trails is so beautiful. Also nice to see Steve wearing a kilt.
Love the kilt steve🤣🤣 Man of your word. Thanks bringing us along once again cheers mate.
Well done to you both. What a finish, reaching Albert's Pyramid (is he entombed inside?) And you looked a true highlander Steve, straight off the Porage oats packet. 10/10 for wearing the kilt though. Thanks for sharing.
Aw great fun guys, you two are nuts, but we love you 🏴😎
Congrats on the 30K subs!
Very green tartan as in Green River Marsh. I think my Malcolm tartan modern nicer. Had woven at Loch Carron weavers for my 21st birthday. My son still wears it today.
That was a great video Steve. What fantastic weather you had for your walk. Beautiful scenery! Beautiful trees! And you certainly know how to use blue sky days to great advantage! I really sought you out tonight because I have just been watching UA-cam videos of Puck's Glen which I have wanted to visit for a long time, but havn't managed to yet. but I have been to Benmore Botanical Gardens several times, which is more or less on the other side of the road from the Glen. I think you & Alicja would like this place. When I used to go I took the ferry across the Clyde to Dunoon & then it was a short bus journey to the Gardens. I think it would be magical to go there on such a day as you have just shown in your video. 2 videos which I have watched of the walk up the Glen were done on dull days, but it still looked fascinating even on such days!
Screen shot taken of this one so I remember! Cheers!
What fantastic views, not only scenery wise but also fashion wise 😀.
Great lighthearted video, beautiful scenery and walk. Did not know about the Cairns either. Another for the to do list!
Must have been hot work in the kilt, trust the socks were tick proof, as always great stuff
Looks like you guys had a nice hike in the forest, yeah, clean crisp air, lucky. Kilt, very nice touch, local boy and all, awesome. Prince Albert Cairn, I thought that was photo shopped in, then WOW! Maybe you folks got some good magical 'spirit' from the experience. Congrat's on the 30k! Hope you and Alicja have the weekend off.
Very funny Steve! Enjoyed the cairns walk too!
the goat of youtube
Loved seeing the Cairns and the views. Never been up there but it on the list now. Love your videos.
Great video and congrats on 30.8k subs..
Cheers Ben! :)
Darn those trees getting in the way of a view...the last one was cool though. Thanks Steve
Amazed how you always manage to get great weather for your trips 😀
