To the poor and innocent people who took this seriously, I am going to calmly tell you that this is a joke. And the sounds aren't accurate. So don't go thinking that the viola sucks or something. Every instrument has its own beauty. Brett(white shirt) and Eddy(black shirt) are both more experienced in playing the violin. So they ain't professional viola players. If you want to know the difference, go watch another video.

Yup. I've been using their 'professional vs beginner" series in my classes as a laugh but they don't have one for viola, got all stoked that they had this one. I should have known. Thankfully I am a vioist and much better than these two (on viola).

@@jiannicheng what I have learned from the car community is if someone makes a joke about your car (in this case instrument) just make a joke right back at them (again in this case about their instrument), removes any stigma that could be left in my experience as it just lightens the mood up in general. A joke only hurts if you act like its serious.

The problem with playing the viola isn’t the musician’s fault. It’s the Viola’s. They’re so awkward cause they’re like a tiny cello, but because of that the sound doesn’t come out right till you become really really good with it. It’s stuck between the land of cello and violin and I think that’s why it’s so hard to play in tune. Honestly I don’t blame violists. It’s hard. The true heroes here are the ones that pick up a viola and master it. Bless them.

leg elbow the viola sounds a bit weird at times because the instrument is too small for the strings so it sounds weird, and god forbid they make a viola that’s actually the correct size for its strings because then it won’t be able to be played like a VIOLIN
same with double bass but they can’t really make it any big because it already has to be taller then the player to be played properly

So I play the viola and I can say this clearly is a joke and isn't accurate. Although they could've tried harder and make it less rude. Although I have gone through criticism throughout my time in orchestra because of the instrument I played. Some of the cello and violin players have made faces and said things out of pure disgust of the instrument. they even make faces when just hearing the word viola. Not everyone is like this I can say, but I hope that the viola will be more respected in the future since it is a great instrument to play and I can say that with some experience 😁
I totally know what you mean! When people say things like "violists are so awful that no one ever even stands up to the jokes being made about them" and stuff like that, I just say "no, it's because violists are so much more mature than violinists that we don't need to put others lower to feel good about ourselves." I havve gotten a few people to be quiet by using that lol! But anyway, yes! The viola is such a beautiful instrument. Obviously this is supposed to be a joke, however they definitely should have made it more clear and nicer!
