  • When I got the go-ahead to book rock bands at the Dugout, one of the first bands I wanted to book was YUR - an acronym for Your Universal Reality if I remember correctly. The band was fronted by Abstract and Kellye Kendrick; they were friends with the hippie scene and played some of the same clubs but I never considered them a jam band. I heard a wide variety of influences in their music, from 60's psychedelic to proto-punk, punk, post punk and beyond. I am disappointed that they never made a record as they were a very creative band. I'm happy to be able to share this demo, which still sounds excellent to my ears. I don't recall who else was in the band, and I'm not sure if Abstract continued making music, but Kellye started a band in the 1990s called Bootlegg Shaman, with her brother Michael on drums. They released a CD and there is a copy for sale here: www.ebay.com/i...
If anyone has any additional details, insights or updates, please leave them in the comments below. Enjoy this timeless recording from one of Druid Hills' finest bands, YUR!

I can see where this is going... you're going to have to start a music history channel based on all the recording and stories you have. I don't even remember this band but I great to hear. Another great tape from the archives. Thanks for posting!
