Valdy (The London Town Criers, The Prodigal Sons) Interview (11/23/24)

Paul Valdemar Horsdal aka “Valdy” is a Canadian singer, songwriter and guitarist who has specialized in the folk and country genres over his career. He began his musical journey during the 1960’s in the bands The London Town Criers and The Prodigal Sons. In 1972 Valdy had his biggest hit single with “Rock and Roll song” and the same year his music was featured in the film The Getaway starring Steve McQueen. He has won 2 Juno Awards for Folk Singer of the Year and Folk Entertainer of the Year and has been nominated many more times. Valdy has worked with artists like Blake Emmons, Gary Fjellgaard and Graham Wardrop to name a few. He has also appeared on the TV shows The Beachcombers and a couple of children’s programs. Over his career, Valdy has played countless concerts and folk festivals across Canada and has released 16 to 20 albums, 4 of which are certified gold.
