    Really neat to see more of the Jude interview, and his pointers on promoting indie films are awesome! It would be neat to have something like this with Sam and Niko or some of the other longtime filmmakers at Corridor talking about some of their experiences in a single video - it'd be cool to hear kind of an "all-at-once" takeaway of their experience in the same way this is set up!

    I have so much respect for this channel and the crew. Ive been following you guys since before these channels ever became what they are today. To see the collaboration from all of my long time favorite youtubers for Corridor, Corridor Crew(Sam and Niko), and Node is incredible and like a dream come true. Ive been religiously watching all of your content for a while and i can definitely say when i was younger you guys captured my attention with amazing entertainment and a good dose of humor. Now i look to you guys as a source of information. Creditable, researched information, entertainment, and overall guidance as to how id like to live my life surrounded by amazing friendships that derived from working hard at a similar goals. To see how far you guys have come, to see how humble, intelligent, and giving you guys are on a daily basis really makes me crave more content from you guys. Ive always wanted to thank you guys for honestly giving me so much joy to open up my devises and tune in to see what the next adventure brings. So Thank You to everyone that makes these videos possible for us. Because of that I've been able to turn these fun side hobbies into a career that i can say i genuinely enjoy on a daily basis. I may just be one random subscriber from years back, but you guys really had a big impact on me growing up. So Thank You! I cant wait to see whats to come in the future! I'm 3 years in working the production side and let me tell you, he is very right for my field too. There is a set system and the industry is really "get used to it or get out" changes don't come easily and creative ideas get killed by the higher ups. Granted that depends on the management and market but it holds true

    Hey Niko, speaking of channels trying to expand their audience, I found this channel a while ago called Door Monster, who have been making videos like the ones you guys at CD and the people at Rocketjump have done, and they are now starting to make their first professional show called Skyvault, having made somewhat over 150,000, plus what they get from Patreon, on their Kickstarter campaign for it. I suggested to them that they try and contact you guys at CD or the people at RJ, either to collaborate on a video or just for advice on making something like this, a 12 episode show on a relatively low budget. If you have not heard from them or heard of them, I would greatly appreciate it if you checked them out, as their videos are great and they really deserve a shot at this, and I think you guys would really enjoy and appreciate the stuff they make.
    (Ps. They have talked about putting all their money into a pilot episode in order to get sponsorship from either Netflix or another streaming sight, but I don't know what the situation is as of this comment. Just so you know)
    (PPs. They did make a short show called The Guards Themselves some years ago, but that was basically out of pocket and posted on UA-cam, though it is still very funny and enjoyable)

    in firearm EDC training they actually train you to look at and assets everyone you see for facial expression, body language, hand position and check waistbands to see if you see a bulge where a weapon could be. sounds exhausting and not realistic but you actually get used to it and it becomes second nature.

    "Only in France you can find castles everywhere".
    No, you can find castles in all of Europe everywhere.
    Every old town had or still has a castle in it.
    Europe isn't like the US where a crapload of people were dumped onto a landmass.
    It grew from farming towns to castle towns to every level of royalty and blue blood having their own land and castle to rule over those lands to all of them being ruled over by someone with a bigger castle to having many castles, forts, locks and whatever else kind of big stone building all over the place for various reasons and purposes.
    I can point you to at least a dozen still standing or ruined castles of various sizes in a 10 mile radius from my house and that's in Belgium, where the density of that is relatively low as most of our history, instead of being the central hub for Europe, we were the border region between France, Holland and Germany that changed hands a lot.

    • @core7344
      @core7344 6 років тому +9

      Starving artist is very real. Any person looking to become an artist has a chance of running into that problem due to the constant changes in the art world and what people find appealing, not to mention starting off is harder because you have to put yourself out there to make it in the art world you need lots of contacts, which are the people who will get you out in then world and introduce you to others, also not to mention almost all of your small work is coming out of your pocket due to the fact you don't have big companies to cover for you or are getting steady incomes. Hence why most artist start as a hobby/side job to their main job until they have an solid foundation where they can take their art maybe to a bigger scale. It takes a lot of time and effort.

    • @person906
      @person906 6 років тому +3

      its an industry where you can try your very best and still end up short for rent. That kind of effort is the baseline, I usually only see it in people that are truly passionate for the craft and put money second. If you're asking about whether the pay is good or not before you even start, maybe you should look at safer career options.

    • @ianharmening8033
      @ianharmening8033 6 років тому +5

      I can sort of answer this on a very low end level. If you are not trying to be a writer/director/producer the pay can be fantastic if your network is good. Writers/directors/producers in indie films have to really put a lot of their own capital into their projects and hope for distribution/recognition/cult following before it pays off (if it pays off). If you are Union in those roles the pay is fantastic, but you might find yourself between work a lot until you are recognized and trusted and good. If you are below the line crew and union you can make serious money.
      I know people in G&E (Grip and Electric. They rig all the lighting and equipment, etc.) who make 6 figures. People in camera can make a considerable amount consistently. Some below the line crew can quickly jump between projects because they are not as locked into the critical roles that absolutely require a single person to fill it through pre-production, production, and post-production. It really is a question of what route you go, Indie is hard to get going with pay especially outside of the big film markets, but Union can pay well.
      For example I was a Production Assistant on a TV show and I made ~$170 in a day. If I did that 5 days a week that is okay money (but you are working 12 hours a day). People higher than me made considerably more. The staff PA's probably made 15 and hour, the Key PA probably made 15-20. Then you have people who've been Unionized. I'll use Script Supervisor as an example because that's what I am more familiar with. A Union Script Supervisor in their first year as of 2015 has to be paid a minimum of 33.73 an hour, 2nd year is 35.90, and 3rd year and beyond is 37.95. That is a minimum per hour. If you are good and can work consistently you can make good money in basically every role, but you have to do hard work and work long hours and show you are passionate and be willing to do mind numbing tasks as a PA until you are union eligible.

    What's a good job to look for if you have no "job experience", and you're mostly trying to get into the film business?

    Hi Jude, have you ever worked on any animated films? If so, how are they different from live action films in terms price, camera direction(I know 2D animation doesn't actually have a camera), crew needed, etc.
    Also have a nice day :)

    Question:
    I want to know what's the deal with the whole credited and uncredited thing and how does it affect you if you want to list something you're not credited in?
