Great video! Your comment about the Campy 45/45 integrated headset dashed my dreams haha. BUT this video is two years old, so do you think the BOX Two Alloy Sealed Integrated 45 x 45 1.5" Tapered Headset would work? Maybe it wasn't out when you made the video, or maybe I'm just not thinking about it correctly. Cheers!
The bike I have is a ZOOZ ebike with a 45/45 integrated headset but it fits a 1 1/8" straight steerer tube so there's got to be something out there that lets me run a tapered fork.
Excellent video, down to the need for the exact type of lower headset to accommodate a contemporary tapered fork in a 44mm straight head tube. Pulse, what about the upper headset? Would I be looking for a 44mm upper external cup or will the 44mm head tube and tapered fork accept a zero stack type upper headset? Thanks.
@@realmentalpulse2622 depends on who you talk to. Some people would say absolutely not not touch it and it will weaken the frame. Other people will say what is a mm here or there??? For me I say it depends on how wide the od of the frame is. If there is some meat left, and you want a tapered fork, then I would do it. Tbh I am in the process of doing it myself. I am going to take 1.5mm from frame and .5 mm from the cup 🤷🏽♂️. Some people can call me crazy but the bike is a 2015 and I bought it before I knew that 42mm eccups weren't available. I already bought a 2022 lyrik so I am running with it. Hopefully I will be smiling on the trail w my new tapered suspension that they told me I couldn't have soon????
I originally bought a funn lower cup but since got the cane creek bc it is deeper, which is needed to fit the tapered part all the way up into the tube as the shallow funn was hitting. I mean it's not a 12 cylinder Ferrari motor we are talking about here. It's a 10 year old mtb head tube that needs a little massage to catch up to the times 😄
Its a 42/48 headset. FSA makes one. It won't work on a campy integrated headtube though, this project did not work out so well but I've seen it done on a straight headtube that is 42mm

@@GatewoodBrown there is a way as long as its not the campy/bmx spec
Manitou still makes the Circus Expert Dirt Jump fork in a straight tube.

@@loft4meon a tapered fork the top is standard 1 1/8, so its a stock upper bearing/stem/spacer
@@realmentalpulse2622 I appreciate the info, thank you.
Parktool 788 reamer. U can ream the bottom 2 mm to fit a ec44/40 bottom
I wondered about that - was somewhat concerned about weakening the frame though. Thoughts?
