- Here we go with spending some time with the Nephew again! Teaching him how to do a headset installation this time. He did a great job and for $20 this is a great find!!!
Link to Headset - www.amazon.com...
Tysm for this!! I was in a Facebook group, and these people where calling me dumb, and stupid saying this was not possible.
So I started linking tons of these types of videos.
Also Ty for linking the headset
Glad you found it useful! HAHAHAHA What group is it if you do not mind me asking? I may try to swing by in it 😉
ill have to dig around, I think it was some DJ group tbh. Also might be getting these forks today for like 80-100ish, Rockshox Silver TK 130mm Fork 27.5. Gonna put that on my specialized pitch, and use it till I upgrade to my full squish. But whats sorta cool about this upgrade is that its forcing me to get the new through axle design front wheel. also the head set is hella cheap compared to canecreek , so then I can buy some used wheels for like 100-200ish on facebook. that way once the full squish is here, and I can just slap it all together.
also can you make a video discussing bottom brackets for mtb, and the diff sizes, and widths? I been playing extreme sports for 25 years, and sorta new to mtb. Just love any of it all the gaps , drops, downhills, rock hills any of it love it 100% its deff my stye lol@@chickensendies
@ProDMiner No worries if you can not remember the group was just curious lol Sounds like you are gonna have a very nice set up for your bike here soon!!!
man im hoping cause next year im going back to the dakotas, and im gonna make some really cool DH trails, miles deep into the blackhills, and like to even get to where the trail head will start will be miles deep you gotta go so no one would truly know if that makes sense? ive made so many trails for bmx, and mtb is just MASSIVE, and thats right up my alley. I can not wait to make like tree drops, and stuff or tree drops, into boulders etc, or just brutally hard lines. Im aware im new to mtb, but not to extreme sports itself so course design will be nuts. Been studying rampage lines, whistler lines, and other places getting a feel. but even in MI, I wanna do these road gaps at andrews trails thats do not really exist. But when walking in the woods, all I see is lines everywhere, and the "what if" possibilities. So ya van life next year / living in the woods way up in the trees :) Thats the other thing, gonna climb some of the big trees, and make a station at the top for me to sleep, and keep myself safe as shelter from predators in the hills. blah I just woke up, and going million miles a hour ha@@chickensendies
Man, you got so much energy, like you drunk too much coffee! I have a feeling your just like that naturally!
I definitely got some energy 🤣🤣🤣😅😅😅
Like Obelix...Mr. Sendie was dropped into coffee cauldron as a child and have endless energy for life ☕😂
@@fracturedrider bro 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you! I’m going to do this to my 2017 rockhopper. I don’t ride enough to justify a new bike. This is the last upgrade I’m going to do!
Very nice!!! Still working great on this bike 😁😁😁
Holy s.... Your nephew grew up since the first time he was in your videos
Right????? That time of his life BAHAHAHA
Your nephew seems really cool! Fun video.
When I started riding many years ago Manitou were the most popular and best performing forks. They are still very nice and affordable.
Manitous are definitely nice and affordable!!! Appreciate it, John!
Side note - Noah, is a pretty cool cat 😉
Thanks for this. Just used one to put a new Recon on a 2016 Xcaliber for a used parts project build. Worked great
Thank you and glad you found it helpful! 😁
This is awesome can't wait to get the FSA adapter on my rockhopper
Works great!!! 😁😁😁
Hi guys cracking video 👍 just a quick question I did notice you say the fork was for 27.5 wheel so my question is… is that frame 27.5 or 26 and if 26 will the 27.5 wheel fit in the rear.? 👍👌🚲
This is just what my ‘Chromag Stylus needs!
@@mr_shiba_inu there you go! 😁😁😁
Was about to smash my keyboard but then you said "ou no" and realised that the fork was backwards 😂😂😂
RIGHT!!! BAHAHAHA Big ope lol
Sweet now i can upgrade my forks
Glad you found it helpful!!!!
Cool man, I've had a couple of those, but no bike to use them on.
Definitely pretty sharp headsets!
I think you have the cup guides on the installer tool upside down, it supposed to keep the headset cup centered
You are an absolute genius 🤣🤣🤣 Had this tool for like 3 years and that never ONCE occurred to me 😅😅😅
Now I can put a really good fork on my old frame XC bike.
@@riverwolf695 glad you found it helpful! 😁😁😁
Thanks for the info
Of course! Pretty cool adapter!
The bike industry is so comical. You know what I never broke in anytime of my life? a 1 inch threaded non tapered fork non tapered headtube. tapered head tubes look cooler I guess, in theory are stronger but like I said...in my 40+ years of all kinds of riding on all kinds of bike the one thing I have NEVER broke is a fork steerer, headset or head tube. Wait, I lied...I did break the fork steer tube on a walmart BMX trying to jump it about 20 years ago.
Sadly it is what the industry is going to so I am just glad there is a little headset that is budget friendly that exists to help make it easier to upgrade older bikes.
@@chickensendies Oh I've used them. I have one on a Vintage Trek currently in fact. Was an old quil stem, race drop bars deals..now it's a flatbar gravel bike..lol.
@@WitchyKatz very nice!!! 😁😁😁
The grease for metal to metal contact. You can use 💯 % Vegetable based Red Rubber Grease on the inner tubes so you don't get a pinch in the inner tube. That is what I do with my Dirt Bike inner tubes.
Good to know! This is the first time I've heard this!
The video I needed thank you 🙏
Glad you found it useful! 😁
I want put tapered forks in diamondback heist 2.0 2018 do you think would fit? Integrated straight headtube
@@robert8077 as long as the headset is 44mm top and bottom you should be good!
What is the size of that headset?
@@GrenoliGonzales Dioche Headset, Headset External Bearing Headset for 44mm Straight Tube Frame Accessory Black a.co/d/6erHJye
@@GrenoliGonzales it is 44m top and bottom for the cup sizes on this frame.
Nice working with your neophew, how old is he?
He is currently 12. Hopefully will get him out on the trails more this year 😁
Lol, if you left him on his own, he would have been back to video games in five.
@@jaychu2691 gotta keep him busy! 🤣🤣🤣
Hi
Is a 1/8 inch tappered fork ? I really strangled finding righr headset for my Raleigh piglet frame , i would fit 1/8 inch tappered for 44mm head tube.
you guy's are funny!! I never swapped out my headsets to a sealed bearing type do you really have to? Also have a ? you know ware to get the bushings for the rear of a mongoose ledge X1 the ones in the frame by the axle pivot? mine seam warn already I know the place I ride is rough but I don't know why they would be worn out already? Thanks
Hmmmmmm.... I'd try to reach out to Pacific Cycles for a replacement set! They would be your best bet unless you take them all out and measure them. Appreciate you!!! 😁😁😁
You do not have to swap the bearings out by any means. But, If you are swapping forks might as well 😁😁😁
@@chickensendies Thanks for the info.
@@chickensendies yea I did that but nothing from them so far... I was thinking you can probably put a ball bearing in it? Thanks
@Fishing With PH & Biking as long as you measure them and find si.e actually bearings the same size you should be able to no problem 😁
What brand is that
The adapter is a risk. It is a budget brand on Amazon
so i bought this exact headset and same dimension on bike. for 2 weeks now i have not been able to get it to sit flat into the fork. i tighten the headset up and it just stays loose rockibg back and forth in the headtube. any idea? ive checked over everything over and over again
Noah sent me the link to this video
I am sorry, but I do not believe I know who Noah is....
@@chickensendies must be my imaginary friend lol
@@titanwasher3 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
quick question
why does the forks have to be backwards, is it the certain fork or the adapter? thanks!
It is specifically a Manitou fork design
@@chickensendies so Rockshox recons would be fine?
@bikebros2 Yeppers! It is just the design of the fork. They have the arch on the other side so they "look" backwards lol
Its a "Risk" using cheap parts! Just kiding, ive never spent more than 20 couple dollars on a headset!
I started running Brand-X headsets on most of my new builds. hard to beat for $10 and the only branded part is the stem cap.
Yep!!!! Hard to complain about the price when they just work 😁
2:21 vernier caliper
He had absolutely no idea 🤣🤣🤣
Backwards 🤣
Right 😅😅😅 I mean.... At least I saw it before producing the video BAHAHAHA
@@chickensendies I get a chuckle when I see used bikes posted with forks legit fork mounted backward.
@@the_blair_bike_project Oh me too lol I wonder if they legit have been riding them that way 😅😅😅
By any chance this cheap chinese part hold up?
@420bandit yep! I've actually put a few on different bikes and they have all been good! 😁
@@chickensendies i got a 2010 stumpy with the old straight steerer. The headset doesnt have cups, its intergrated specialized style. Will it work in here. Ive been looking to upgrade my fork, cant afford to upgrade the bike. Thinking of making a mini mullet and slopeduro bike out of it. But all 27.5” come with tapered steerer tube. Will this only work with bikes with lower cups?
@420bandit Sadly if it's integrated I do not believe it will work. You have to replace the old cups and yours won't have them so this would not work.
