I learned SO much in these six minutes that I didn't even learn in all the other brick walkway repair videos I
video's I've watched. Thanks for uploading this!!!
Love how the guy is rocking these big old mitts, roger bare handed lol
I think it’s satisfying removing loose bricks 🧱
I installed a brick walk (about 50 ft. long and 4 ft. wide, running bond) at my house 20 years ago. The ground is clay and I set the brick in about 2 to 3 inches of sand. No problems at all, the sand base worked great in my case. The only thing I have done is replace the sand in the joints with a polymeric sand which has prevented any weed growth. Still level and no-maintenance.
I think the main problem was that it didn't have concrete along the sides, the way he did it is the best but on walkways most of the time you just need to compact the dirt a little bit and some concrete on the edge. On driveways you have to do all this process cause the weight of the cars
&,~
David: So it looks like "we're" gonna dig 6 inches on the other side too...
Roger: Not really... just you. 🤣
0:40 "what about you start loading that sand in the wheelbarrel" already doing it
This guy is good and he is not afraid to get dirty
Awesome job guys would love to do at my back garage
Thanks guys for great job 👍
One of my favorite videos
Wonderful. I love Roger
Why are they called sailors? Because they look like sailors, David.
Because they look like sailers on a ship if they are crooked they are called drunken sailers.
@@Bestlandscaperinohio , or they call them "blow me downs."
What's wrong with sand?
It just nevah packs up hahd.
It will pack hahd if you use a qwata inch

I thought you were going to make a Star Wars Prequel joke... For shame.
I’m only here for the comments “dehh nahht mawjullah”
perfect job good work
but great video I love watching this channel
Any kind of curb appeal is a lot of work.
N
Absolutely
Excellent
Every time Roger says "take and". . . take a drink.
Great video
Good job al 💯
why would you go through all that trouble of editing this video for UA-cam and not show the finished product? What a waste of time this video is
Um because the point of the fucking video is to show you how to do this shit! You want to see finished walkways, go to google image search
Whaaat,we didn't even get to see the result dudes
wow good job
I thought you find jalousie windows only in Hawaii. I can't imagine those being too effective anywhere in the NE.
Why am I watching this I don't even own a house!!😂😂😂
Brandon Tolon .... Your quest for knowledge. Just in case you ever appear on Jeopardy.
Yeah but this is one way to own one very quickly.
Here in CA I install these all in at $28.00 sqft all day long.
Brandon Tolon because you can learn how. To do this job and charge somebody that has a house
If you watch this, someday you will Brandon!
Because you’d like to own a house some day to do all this kind of DIY things? As if you are not allowed to watch videos where you don’t have a direct relation with..
Nice job!
Макс Леонтьев the
Repairing it is why I push the idea. Simple
I wish you would have finished it until the concrete part of it, I am trying to do this in my house
i had a company install a patio paver and walkway. it's been 2 years and seems every year I have to call them to fix the borders because they are falling. The edging seals moves about inch away from the border pavers and I think this seems to happen when the ground dries up. Anyway to prevent this?
Often imitated but never duplicated
Roger that Roger
Wow
Im suhprised rogah didnt use a nail and string on the form to make even radius cuts
miss ya Rogah
Scrap piece of decking? Yea, I have that laying around. lol.
Robert Thomas So go buy a piece. It isn't expensive.
We don’t have smart ppl like this in our city.
Il pourrais ,dans la courbe faire une coupe des briques pour les joints rayonnent , non. ?
Pretty big gaps between bricks, if you're going to put dust over them...might as well run the compactor over them.
Thank.you.
Rosa Tula
Any link to the stone dust and the “pack” products please.
I would be inclined to use a cast in place concrete substrate. My thinking is; I have better control over dimensions during construction and over time, I should experience less settling/undulation of The brick surface. Also, much less labor to install. Concrete is relatively cheap.
Anything wrong with my approach?
Nothing wrong with your aporoach. Your mums approach was wrong to give you birth.
good approach, id do the same. guessing its the aesthetic that can be a catch
why am i watching this?? my house doesnt even have any bricks like that...
Donari very interesting
Ha ha ha same here but I might do the path in the back garden.
i dont even have a house
Beautiful walkway but show the finished product!!!
Como Asher Ina pader
nice/./
Roger I have a problem in my garden, how can I get help from you? I live in Reading Pensilvania.
this delam every day like this dibi cecal do nothing😂😂😂
"How we doing Roger?"
by "finish the concrete allaround the edge" does Roger mean to leave the form in or remove them before pouring the concrete? thanks..>Ron
Remove form first then concert
grass will start to grow up thru that
Yes. He should've put some backing material, the one which is allows water through.
Porous is the word!
Backing material then the pack ?
They call them soldiers here matey!!!
legal
My bricklayer buddy calls those standing up bricks a soldier course.
Standing up on edge is a soldier course, if they were on their edge and laying down it would be a sailor course. He was wrong in his description, but it happens.
How to make a basement
It must have been when he didn't know how to lay block because I've never seen a walkway look that bad and he usually does a good job
Why stone dust on second instead of sand
I bet that is slippery as heck
Not straight away. But you can scrub it and pour some diluted bleach . I know it's not good for your garden, so just scrub then.
SI NY or Boston
We have a sand and ants keep digging up the sand and making large sand hills on the brick. I rinse it off daily but theyre relentless.
Just put clorox in there, it'll annihilate the ant colony.
3:44 how did you made turn for the wood ?????😅😅😅😂😀😇
And the interlock also 😅😅
Se ve fácil pero no
so by using a stone dust pack and stone dust leveling goes against ICPI standard, you can achieve the same results with the sand and 57 (3/4) stone mix and leveling sand, the reason why the sailor course didn't held up is because you didn't have an edge restraint
shucks, I just used free sand that I got and now my paver bricks are loose. It's a bad base and the bricks rock slightly. We'll home improvement is not my forte
Sand is what your suppose to use, and its fine as long as you have a strong edge.
Маладци атлична ребят 👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌
Remember to use stone dust, not sand but stone dust!
Busted a few pieces of brick in half all jagged and shoved it in there? Interesting
I like moss. If he is like me, he wouldn't have redo the bricked walkway.
おォ~やりたくなる動画だね!!
haaaahd as a raaaack!
SAILORS? SOLDIERS.
You Should not hamer al the bricks of you make the grou d level you should be able to just lay them down
American shovels are so weird. Use a spade. So much easier.
EXTRA VIDEO.
Lewissimpkins
the last two Roger ... HA HA who belive it?
If u use gator sand u could of left it modular, it prevents weeds.
Except they’re not sailors...they’re known as soldiers 😂 gotta love Americans
Great Video. But, a template tool would come in really handy here. Just sayin. :)
Emmy Braxtly
Stone dust instead of poly sand no good at all
Mmmm? Idk about this’s one
HaAhd.
Just make it a concrete one
HEY THAT CONTRACTOR'S VOICE SOUNDS LIKE THE ACTOR DENZEL WASHINGTON!
Im confused, in this video ua-cam.com/video/rlZ8rAs0rcM/v-deo.html you used sand ontop of the Pack/Pak that was laid. And on this video you used stone dust, so which is better?
And you should show the finished project, you recorded this far, why not a ladt shot of it being finished?
They never show off the finish product wtf
Why not just pour concrete? So much work just for "the look"
Standing bricks are called "soldiers," not sailors! LOL!Interesting that homeowner knows to wear GLOVES, while "expert" has neglected that important step.
Soldiers stand up, sailors lay down
Mah soldiers touch each other with the wide face, sailors are connected with the thin face
so i wasnt supposed to use seamen to line the walkway?
Gloves are for pussies
I'm no professional but I have been around residential construction my whole life. Several years in each fields of carpentry, plumbing, building material sales and 27 years window and door repair business. I would never install a walkway that is level with the inside floor. Pretty sure that would not even pass code in most states.
They must not have wanted to show the finished product because it probably looked like hell. They should have laid the bricks perpendicular to the walkway, not parallel
Good thing you don't build walkways because that's wrong and would look awful.
@@jasonwebb5964😅
Sailors?
Soldiers
Ruben Borges .... that’s what I thought they were called.
Choco Latte they definitely are.. And I run a masonry business. This guy must have been in the navy.. Trying to steal some
thunder
I feel like the home owners are told to ask certain questions
Grandpa in the place You want it ?.
i feel like id look alot nicer after a quick pressure wash of those old bricks
))))))))))))
It’s 12:30 am
Stone dust is a swear word amongst us professionals.
Lol just like at 2:00 they are using “pack” aka 304
less talk more action.
Why is he making the homeowner do all the work Instead of him?
Because his service was free.
